Very clean rooms, and the lobby is nicely decorated. Maintenance appears to be kept up well. Staff was also very courteous. Although navigation to this hotel is accurate, it's a hard right turn just off the freeway, and you drive down a very short hill with trees all around so it's a little hard to find at first. But it's also very quiet since its away from the roads, and a pretty area with all the trees.
There's a pool, although I didn't use it. It also looked clean.
Although I could get on the WiFi easily, I suspect because it's in a dip off the road, I could not connect to my VPN.
Price was very reasonable. I recommend this place!

Very welcoming Inn. We made an emergency stop here during a snow storm and were met with kind staff, clean rooms, free WiFi, and a continental breakfast in the morning. Nothing too fancy, but had everything we needed. Absolutely would recommend if you need an affordable nights stay in the area.

Very nice hotel with a welcoming and friendly staff. Sam and his team were always pleasant and went out of their way to make us feel welcomed! The rooms were clean, nice large parking lot right out front, and complimentary breakfast and access to the pool & more! Plus, they support our troops with a military discount. As a veteran myself, I appreciate when businesses do this- especially, small businesses.

Located in downtown Portland, right off the highway, provides easy access to major cities like Grand Rapids to the West and Lansing to the East.

Will stay here again!

The staff was very friendly, understanding and accommodating when we stayed recently. I cannot thanking them enough for their hospitality and kindness. Thank you to the owner and staff. The rooms were as expected and clean, the shower was nice and warm, and the price was right. :)

The staff here is very accommodating, anything extra that I asked for was given to me with no issues. The suite is very roomy and nicely set up. No bugs, as I saw in other reviews. I grew up in this town so I knew what to expect. That being said, if you're looking for a 5 star resort, go to Lansing. This is an older hotel in a very historic town, so obviously there's a little wear and tear. My only issue was how bright those lights are outside, they shine into the room through the top of the curtain. This was easily fixed by getting an extra blanket and putting it over the top to block the light. My stay was very pleasant, and I will be back. Honestly I can't believe some of the negative reviews on here. Some people are just too picky.

Overall the stay was very pleasant. The staff was friendly and welcoming, our room was clean and comfortable and the pool was warm and relaxing! My family and I visit portland once a year and this is the 3rd year we have stayed here with no complaints. Highly recommend!!!

I had training for my job in Ionia and there was NO WAY I was staying at the hotel there. I tried this place as a roll of the dice! Yahtzee!!! Sam, the owner, and his staff were excellent! The room was clean and cozy, and my stay was very comfortable. Yea, the place is a little dated, but I can deal with dated as long as the place is very clean and the staff are attentive to my needs. I will definitely stay here every time my employer has training in Ionia. Thanks again Sam for the great service and hospitality.

what a relief! Came to American Heritage after leaving the hotel we reserved in Ionia because it was absolutely disgusting! We to American Heritage and the place was very clean , the halls, the entrance, CLEAN. Our room was clean. The remote was.even in a little bag lol the front desk person brought us some extra pillows and blankets and was just super nice! Bed was really comfy too. Glad we switched hotels!!

This property is so well maintained as a quiet cottage country field and if you have any special needs they are sure to accommodate. A special thank you to the staff for taking such amazing care thank you! Do not forget to ask about there jacuzzi room on the upper floor!

People at the front desk are always friendly and there to help if you need it. Rooms are clean and sanitary and we'll stocked with the necessities needed for a comfortable stay. Has a clean pool and hot tub, as well as an arcade room and vending machines.

The place is extremely well maintained. Their maintenance man, Dewy is one hard worker in order to keep everything going as well as it should be. The place extremely clean, the staff is Friendly and the stay was great..

We had been looking for a hotel from the time we got to Ludington allll the way to Portland and not a SINGLE room until here we stumbled in tierd then were greeted warmly given free water bottles and directed to our rooms which were amazing for the price. I would most deffinatly stay again though getting to it was confusing due to the road layout

Honestly could not have found a better place to stay the family owned establishment was very homie very comfortable very respectable. The family who owns are very cool respectable hospitablity coordinated and know how to make you feel welcome thank you guys for an excellent hotel experience

Hate they took the jaccusi out of the pool area but the room we got was very nice and it had one in it and the price was well worth it. We got the same room we did on our wedding night, will totally go back again.
