Very nice experience for dinner. The restaurant has a unique feel with a step back in time. The chandeliers provided a very romantic setting along with some live music. The food was quite good and had a very nice presentation. Overall there were a couple of bumps in service but they were quite friendly and quick to set things right. They didn't know as much about the items on the menu that we hoped they would but were willing to check in with the kitchen to get the details we needed. We would be interested in coming back here in the future!

We had a good experience at The Terrace Inn. The front desk staff was helpful and professional (not common in today's business world). One staffer even went above and beyond to search my room after I left and thought I had left a valuable item behind.

Our room was clean and comfortable. This is a historic inn so be aware that the walls between rooms aren't particularly soundproof, but our neighbors were respectful. Breakfast was a full, hot meal. My only suggestion would be for the staff to move the buffet tables out of the corner; if several customers were there at the same time, making waffles, etc., it was a bit congested.

The Bay View neighborhood is wonderful to walk in. So many cool homes with unique character. There is a lot to do in the beautiful Petoskey area, including wineries, bike/hike trails, shopping, and beaches (the state park has a gorgeous beach).

I would stay here again for sure. It's a classy place with a lot of charm. The parking on the street near the front door is congested, but we parked on the opposite side of the building (you will have a lot of stairs to climb there, though), and there were lots of parking on that street.

I must say, the Terrance Inn and Restaurant is delightful! I feel like I belong with the warm, very friendly hospitality. It's located in a quiet neighborhood, not far from Little Traverse Bay. Inside reminds me of a grandma's home, with its charm, elegance, and clean efficiency. The grounds are lovely, with several outdoor places to sit and enjoy. I ate breakfast and enjoyed a spectacular dinner comfortably in their classy dining room. The staff is sweetly accommodating, making you feel special. It may not have all the amenities of a ritzy hotel, though their charm, comfort, and graciousness far outweigh the non-necessities. If I'm vacationing in this area again, I'll choose to stay here!

Had a really nice visit at this quaint and quiet inn with my husband for a little getaway! The staff were so nice and helpful with giving information of what to do around town and adjoining cities. Our room was nice, clean and comfy! We will definitely come back! This was our second visit to Petoskey but first time staying here :)

The 1911 Restaurant at the Terrace Inn is hands down the BEST restaurant in Petoskey. Words cannot describe the thought that goes into these dishes and the FLAVOR… my God… it’s so SO GOOD.

Had a wonderful weekend at the inn! The property has so much character and takes you back in time. Patty, Belinda, Christy and the other staff were all amazing! All super friendly and helpful and fun to visit with. The suite we stayed in (309) was spacious and very clean. It is on the third floor and there is not elevator so we got our steps in. But well worth it! We woke up to the smell of breakfast cooking each morning that drew us out of bed earlier than planned! Well worth it. Small breakfast buffet but the food was very good. We spent a lot of time visiting in the lobby and exploring the building. Looking forward to our next visit!

My friend and I recently enjoyed another lovely visit at the beautiful Terrace Inn. Though we have visited the hotel several times, the owners always impress with their superb service esthetic. The historic hotel is well maintained, and the food and services are stellar, whether you're dining at the 1911 Restaurant (highly recommended) or choosing from the wide selection at the breakfast buffet. We will be looking forward to our next visit!

Beautiful, charming, historic 1911 Inn perfectly maintained, spotlessly clean with excellent food, sumptuous dinners and glorious terraces for enjoying the breeze through the trees or reading or chatting. Relaxing, gracious living from times gone by. Our family will return.

We sat on the porch and had a delicious dinner. The planked whitefish is perfect. The smoked whitefish chowder was well seasoned. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. And the setting was pure Northern Michigan.

Beautiful area and building, with friendly staff. Belinda checked us in and then was also there at check out time; she was especially lovely and so was everyone else. We had room 100, which I think was the largest room with a king bed, oversized bathtub, large shower and bathroom. We were right off the main sitting room and next door to another room but it was very quiet all night long. The restaurant was exquisite but we had a large lunch in town so weren’t hungry for dinner unfortunately so we didn’t try it. But we ate in the dining room for the buffet breakfast. A lot of options to suit my husband and my varied tastes, served by a friendly lady. We ate more than enough. We went for a long walk in the surrounding neighborhood and by the lake on Saturday evening and I went for a run on Sunday morning so I can attest for the beauty and quiet of the area. There isn’t a parking lot, and street parking right by the Inn can be hard since it is so popular, but street parking is free and allowed in the neighborhood so we got a spot about a block away.

I was researching what to do to celebrate my 18th anniversary with my wife when I came across this hotel. My wife usually prefers to stay at places that are right on one of the Great Lakes so I was taking a gamble when I chose the Terrace Inn.

After researching the area a little more I knew that she would love the hotel and the whole Bay View area. She was instantly impressed when we got into the area and fell in love with the hotel the second we pulled up. We have always shared a love of historical buildings and we absolutely adored everything about the Terrace Inn.

This isn’t really a hotel to just camp out in your room so choosing the modest garden room with the two twin beds was no issue. It actually worked out great because I spent so many years on third shift that we’ve grown accustomed to sleeping in separate beds. The only small issue would be - well, for someone who isn’t small. I’m 5’7” and the shower head was right at my head. I just ducked a little and it was fine. Keep that in mind if you are booking 102 and are on the taller side.

We never got a chance to eat dinner at the 1911 restaurant but we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. It was a wonderful experience having it out on the back deck.

On our last night, we walked down the back stairs and down across the pedestrian bridge to the pier by the Bay View Private Beach to watch the sunset. Approaching the grand staircase of the Inn at dusk was picture perfect and a fitting end to our last night. I’ll add the photo I took to this review but it doesn’t do it justice.

The only downside to our trip for me is that I don’t know how I’ll top it for our next anniversary. I guess we’ll just have to come back!

Decor was amazing. Front lobby and dinning haul has a very beautiful victorian style vibe. All the rooms here have a different style makeing them all very unique. Breakfast was very good. The staff and owners were very friendly and polite. Makes you feel like home. Room was very clean and welcoming. Would love to come back and stay some other time in the future.

Just went to restaurant. But food was fabulous!!! Will definitely go again! Fantastic fish options for dinner, we both had two different fish entrees. Old hotel ambiance made for a very pleasant five star meal. A bit pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for...delicious.

Had a lovely stay here at this historical piece of northern Michigan. The service is very friendly and accommodating and the food is just excellent. We even met a new friend, a lady in all white who kept passing by us in the hall. Her and all the other guests were very kind and curtious to us and over all was just a great time and would stay again :)

We stayed for our 15th anniversary in late September and they were great! The customer service was top notch, the breakfast in the morning was great and the jacuzzi suite was very comfortable and large. They helped us with multiple requests and one minor issue with our television. We will be staying here again!

Today as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary we think back to what we were doing at this time a year ago. We stayed the weekend at the Terrace Inn and wanted to write a review ever since. We both love historical buildings and the Inn is absolutely stunning! Our room was quaint, bright and so pretty. We ate breakfast and dinner at the 1911 restaurant, and our server was Miliah who did an amazing job. For dinner we had the maple planked whitefish and walleye; it was one of the best meals ever. There was a guitar player that added that special touch to the evening-beautiful! Since it was winter we snowshoed the enchanted trail near Boyne at night under the lights. We also walked around the Inn and saw many lovely cottages close by. The winter season is a quiet and peaceful time to come to the Inn; it was perfect. A big thanks to the owners Mo and Patty, along with staff Belinda and Karen who made us feel so welcome. We loved our stay at your beautiful Inn and hope to return again soon. Thanks for making us feel so special. We included a couple pics that Patty took.

The Terrace Inn is a qaint hotel complete with some updates to bring it into the 21st century. Signs of its origins like doors & floors that aren't square, plumb, or level - combine with modern flourishes like flat-screen TVs, and wifi internet to make you stay "comfortable." That's in quotes because the wifi is very slow, at best, and we discovered cell service at the Inn can also be spotty - Verizon was a notable no-show. If you are looking to escape the modern "social" world we live in, you are in luck! If guaranteed access is a must, you might want to check(in) elsewhere. Which, IMO would probably be a mistake! Despite its shortcomings, the Inn is full of character and the staff are excellent. Plus, you might miss dinning at 1911!

During our weekend stay we were going to be arriving late due to a several hour drive post work. So we took a chance and made a dinner reservation at 1911 for their last seating of the night. Best decision ever! We both had fish - whitefish & walleye - and both were expertly prepared, and beautifully served (see pix). Long and short, even if you do not stay at the Inn, do yourself a favor and have a meal at 1911... We might see you there as we decided that one meal was more than worth the trip! Bon Appétit!

My mom and I like to visit this beautiful historic inn every year. The rooms are all super cute and each is decorated in different decor. The Complimentary breakfast is delicious and the dining room is beautiful. The restaurant is a must try and offers the best planked Whitefish you’ll ever have! The inn is is quick walk to the lake and is a great place to hunt for petoskey stones. Employees are all very friendly and helpful. We love talking to the owner.

Our last visit last summer was pretty rough at night because we couldn’t sleep because of snoring from another room, but sometimes that’s to be expected when staying in a hotel etc.

I’d definitely recommend if you’re looking for a cute place to stay.
