Worth the drive from Cadillac. Easy access to parking and a short walk to the overlook. Good signage for those interested in the hiking trails. Mid October for color vista that was mid range towards peak.

Deadman’s Hill Overlook offers a hauntingly beautiful panorama that captures the essence of nature’s mystique. The elevated vantage point provides sweeping views of rugged landscapes and dense forests, creating an atmosphere that feels both serene and eerie. The name, though ominous, adds a layer of intrigue, making it a destination for those seeking an adventurous experience. The trek to the overlook is worth the effort, offering a unique perspective that lingers in your memory. An amazing view of the colors of fall, you can see for miles!! Highly recommended!! Great trails, too, if you like to hike! In the fall, parking is limited because of the crowds. This is a rustic area, outhouses, natural paths, etc.

Probably has the greatest views on a clearer day but we stopped to check it out in a misty rain, so while the view was still worth the stop, we definitely did not get the full effect of fall colors.

Absolutely beautiful! When pulling in it’s a little rough with the road being all messed up but when you enter the loop go forward until you see more signs and that’s where the trails will be. You don’t need to go to the trails if you just want to go straight to the view then there’s a little trail that goes straight to a good overlook spot!

A great place to view the Northern Michigan fall colors. We have not hiked the trails but hear many saying how fun and pleasurable it was.

Great, challenging hike. Would like to see campsites closer than the 8 mile Pinney Bridge.

A stunning overlook, particularly during fall color season. Catch it on a sunny day and be blown away by the view. Trails are great too!

Absolutely worth stopping at! The view was amazing. We did not hike the trails just took the short walk to the overlook. I'll definitely be coming back to hike!

An absolutely beautiful place to visit. Been here many times to enjoy the views. We took the 3 mile loop and we were not disappointed 😍
Be ready for a medium difficulty hike with lots of roots and things to trip on. Stop and enjoy the scenery any chance you get!!
Perfect time to go as there weren't any bugs!!

Awesome place with a moderately difficult trail. Huge hill at the end got me sweating. The loop is great but definitely check out the beaver pond. When you travel the loop clock wise, you will come to a perpendicular trail directly at the bottom of the hill. You would normally go right to continue the loop but if you go left it will take you to the shallow lakes after a bit of navigation. Use all trails or a similar app to navigate the trail. There is little to none cell phone coverage in the valley

Great views of the head of the Jordan River valley, plenty of hiking trails, and a beautiful drive through the valley floor!

This is one of the best day hike locations in Northern Michigan. Not too long, not too short. Not too easy, not too difficult. My son has had no issues hiking the loop since he was 8 years old and we have all enjoyed it. Most of the year it is not too busy and parking is plentiful. However, during peak color season, expect parking to be a challenge.

Beautiful lookout. We weren't prepared for the hike, so we opted to just check out the view.

Beautiful overlook with a grim background. If your a macro photographer then this is gold! Beautiful pollinating flowers attract mass bees. Plenty of shade for a picnic also.

Beautiful hike well groomed trail. Not to difficult and took our dogs. Recommend taking the trail loop counter clockwise as someone else also suggested as it would be an unpleasant climb at the end.

Walked the trail for approximately 6 miles (it has a 18 mile loop). Lots to see and was great for the soul searching solitude I craved. Parts of the hike were well wooded and worthy of the boots I wore. Plan to return someday.
