Opera House Steak & Seafood

Recently moved to Plainfield. Its been on my list of places to try for 4 months. Took my fiance there for a well deserved end of year meal. Ambiance was great, staff friendly as can be. Just made me feel like Family. Wine selection on point. Appetizers on point. Steaks cooked to perfection! Just a fyi - order extra garlic oil with the bread, its so effing good! We will be back for sure

Absolutely blown away. The second I walked in I was in awe of the space. Beautifully decorated with a vintage flair. Our server was actually a Sommelier (Alejandro) and he was amazing! Every bite of our food was delicious. After dinner we sat at the bar and tried some of the wine Alejandro recommended which did not disappoint. We also met the owners at the bar, one owner was behind the bar and the other sitting at the bar with friends. They were such kind, sweet souls, down to earth, and lots of fun. Thanks for making my date unforgettable. I look forward to going back.

My wife and I ate here for our anniversary dinner this year. Months earlier we had visited the Irish bar downstairs that shares the same owner with Opera House. We decided it would be a nice place to try for our anniversary dinner this year. I made a reservation through their website with Open Table. I would highly suggest making a reservation beforehand and getting there early to eat because they ran out of some of their specials and entrees. Our reservation was for 6:30pm, but I would suggest maybe 5 or 5:30pm if you want a choice of all their menu items for dinner.

The dining area is very nice and most of the tables are all in one area for the dining hall and there is a bar just off the dining hall. It’s a nice quaint place to dine. The server placed us at a table right by a window that overlooks downtown Plainfield Lockport Street. I assumed this happened because when making the reservation I said we were celebrating our anniversary.

There were a few things that happened during our dining experience that were not great and I could ding the restaurant for those things in this review, but most of them were not their fault and they did the best they could to make things work for the best. We were enjoying ourselves so we just let it go. They were horribly short-staffed the night we ate there so things took a little longer than normal and they ran out of a lot of the menu items. I had ordered the Coconut Encrusted Mahi Mahi for my main dish and after about 40 minutes to an hour later they told me they ran out of it and I could order something else for the same price. That’s the only thing that could’ve been better in my opinion. They should’ve told me earlier, but they made it right for me by letting me order the filet at the same price as the Mahi Mahi and comping most if not all of our drinks that evening. The restaurant was super crowded and the short-staffed workers were doing the best they could. We really felt sorry for them so instead of complaining we just rolled with it and enjoyed our night out.

Down to the food. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer and they were excellent. They give you complementary bread to dip into rosemary infused olive oil. The bread and olive oil were outstanding. We had two servings of the complementary bread before our meal. My wife had for her dinner the appetizer of the Sweet Thai Chili sauce Brussel sprouts along with loaded mash potatoes. Both were excellent. Especially the Brussel sprouts which she let me taste both. I had the filet with a side of vegetables. Both were great. I had asked for the filet to be cooked medium rare and it came a little rarer than I would’ve liked, but it tasted great. Medium would have been a better call.

Overall the meal, service and evening worked out great. After we paid for our meal, we stopped by their bar for a drink and then went downstairs to the Irish bar for a few more drinks. Excellent night out and we will be back to try again. Very much recommended. Enjoy!

Excellent spot for dinner out to celebrate our engagement. Food was amazing and the service out just as good. We impromptu dined at the bar and got just as good of an experience as in the dining room. Gigi behind the bar was a delight and the drinks were just as good 👍 We'll definitely be back.

Great service and wonderful food! Decor is also nice and 30's themed. I had the scallops and muscles, very yummy with excellent presentation! Will definitely be back again!

What a place. 1st time there took hr drive heard so much about it and it didn't disappoint at all. The nostalgia of that place is amazing. Went for Easter Brunch and it was busy, but the staff worked so hard to keep it so smooth. Food was amazing, drinks were awesome and our server, Rachel was beyond amazing n awesome. I been to the opera house many times last year. I posted items that are available on menu and some speciality items. I love the food and entertainment that available. The theme food is the best. Cheeseburger in paradise from last year.

Loved this place! The service was great, we had a reservation, but ended up just staying at the bar because GiGi was so nice! The coconut Mahi Mahi was delicious, the bread was even better. We even tried the loaded mashed potatoes. They were to die for! Great drinks too!

The hubs and I do date night once a month and we always pick a new spot. This place is a gem! The food was uhhhhhmazing and our server, Rachel, was the bomb. She was so sweet and very attentive. She knew the menu very well. My hubs ordered the ribeye with garlic shrimp, garlic creamed spinach, and bourbon mushrooms, and I ordered the scallops with parmesan risotto. Everything was truly very good. They have a drinks list that includes wine, and the drinks here were some of the best we’ve ever had. The ratio of each ingredient was on point. Highly recommend you try the blueberry martini and Risesa (it’s a mule with strawberry vodka). Find this gem and try them. The ambiance is very good too!!

Deandra was our server. She was great! Dinner was great! The 1920’s decor is a nice touch. We will definitely be back!

Dining is not just about food. The decor, service and ambiance all play a role for an unforgettable dining experience. We paid the Opera House a visit on our anniversary and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the steak was to die for! The dining room had a great feel to it (grand and elegant) and the personal service was outstanding. We were pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend this place!

Great experience to celebrate my friends Birthday. The General Manager just happened to be on the elevator with us when we arrived, and introduced himself. I will definitely be returning.

Very classy place! We had Surf & Turf & Swordfish. Very tasty! Bread/oil was excellent along with the Ceasar salad. We were celebrating a birthday and our server brought a piece of carrot cake for dessert. Great service and experence!

We went for my husband's birthday. Drinks were delicious. Our food was perfect and the creme Brule was melt in your mouth. Rachel was a fabulous server.

Enjoyed our wedding anniversary with our first visit to this restaurant. We went early, right at opening, so we pretty much had the space to ourselves. They accommodated us with a prime window spot overlooking downtown Plainfield. Quality food and staff. Definitely will be back again.

Wow! Exceeded expectations and can't wait to go back. The filet was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing coupled with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The asparagus was the freshest and best tasting I've ever had and loved their take on poutine which was done differently than I've had elsewhere. For drinks we had their blueberry lemon drop which was fantastic. All food and drinks were carefully crafted and presented beautifully. Our server was Amanda and the service was first class! The overall ambience created by the decor, piano player and service was great! Excited to have a place this nice to go to so close to our house. Highly recommended!

Had a wonderful time here. A nice intimate place to eat at. Staff was great! Food was delicious! Salmon bites, Lamb Shanks, Calamari, Bruschetta, Grilled Chicken, Salmon, Salads, deserts...large portion of cheese cake. Drinks were good. Was a little cold in the large room.

This is considered a fine dining experience located in Plainfield. Groupon has a half off for Tuesday - Thursday that is worth checking out. Dinner wont be too pricey if you stick to food and no drinks. Staff are all friendly and are well versed with the menu. Very unique dining decor. The food is very good as well. We tried the steak and apple pork chop along with union rings. Everything was seriously perfect by the time dinner was done.

Anniversary dinner, and couldn't be more pleased! Steak and lobster cooked to perfection!

Everything was very good, very good service everyone was very nice we had the crab cakes that were really good, good steak overall we loved this place definitely coming back soon !!!
