I stayed here a few weeks ago, and got a call from a Kim to let me know I left 'something' in my room. I was here again a week or so ago, and ran into Kim again, and she handed me an envelope her housekeeping staff had set aside that had my missing $135 in cash!!!

on top of that, the rooms are clean, the employees here are friendly, and breakfast is nice. :)

will definitely recommend!!!

I was quite surprised by how quiet and clean this hotel was. Considering how horrible people are, especially in this area, this place is definitely not what I would have ever expected. Pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Lol

Friendly staff and nice clean room. I have visited this place on busy weekend but check in was fast. Well beyond the expectation for the price paid for the room.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. This was the 3rd time we chose to stay at this hotel in the last 3 or 4 years. The room and bed were clean and comfortable. The bed mattress was VERY comfortable, enabling us to get 2 great nights' sleep. The air-conditioner worked well. We did not swim, but the pool was open and looked clean and inviting. The staff was polite. I was even invited to join them for their pizza lunch as I waited for my room in the lobby, while my husband attended a seminar. (I was EARLY for check-in and the room wasn't quite ready yet, which was totally understandable as this was a Sunday.) The large flatscreen TV worked, with many channels to choose from. Was glad that they have a NO DOG policy, so we didn't have to suffer through hearing barking dogs. The hotel was convenient, as it was within walking distance of many fast food restaurants, as well as a Perkins and a Mexican Restaurant. Caseys and Kwik Star were also within 2-3 blocks away. Czech Village was 2 miles away for a variety of bars, restaurants and shops. If you are on a no-carb diet, you won't find anything on the breakfast buffet for you. Do not expect a Hilton or Marriott Hotel, as you are not paying those prices. For the price, we were happy with our experience as a basic, comfortable place to sleep.

I am having a great stay here in Cedar Rapids all the credit goes to a wonderful and extremely accommodating, and caring staff. The check in clerks go above and beyond even the trainees!!!!

Stayed for 5 nights here. For the price, I don't think there's nicer rooms you can find in the area. Room was clean and the hot water and shower pressure were fantastic. The Mexican restaurant next door is incredible. And the front desk staff are lovely.

Only thing I could complain about is that the ice machine didn't look very clean, but I wasn't using it anyway, and I don't think it's bad enough for me to remove a star from my rating.

EDIT: Forgot to mention in the original review, but the bed I had was very firm. I actually liked this a lot, but some may not, so I thought it was important to mention.

This is an unbiased, completely objective, review of the hotel and grounds. For context: my husband and I had travelled 1,100 miles to attend CRST trucker training school, and this was the hotel they had booked for us for a total of 24 nights. This review is being written after only the first night - and will be updated as time goes on. I commonly stay at Hilton-affiliated hotels so my level of expectation may be higher/lower than yours based on your personal experience with other branches of lodging.

Check in:
We arrived late Saturday night. Two young receptionists helped us with check in which went smoothly. Though we had requested a king bed, we were assigned the two queen bedroom for reasons that they would need to keep it open for other visiting guests. Understandable - it would be difficult for a hotel to book out one of their king rooms for 3 weeks. After loading up multiple bags of gear on the luggage cart we discovered that there wasn’t an elevator. We were shocked as we are admittedly rather spoiled by having them during our previous hotel experiences. It took three trips to get all of our luggage moved up to the second floor, but the stairs were heavily carpeted with more run vs rise so it didn’t feel like “climbing up a mountain.”

Room:
Compared to a bright and crisp Hilton hotel room, the room is rather dark in comparison making it feel smaller than it actually is. I would say the features would’ve been considered modern for the 2010-2012 era. The HDMI input on the flat screen tv is accessible and features roughly 100 cable channels. Light fixtures are operated by a flip switch at the base and most have the built in outlet for easy access. The a.c. unit is operated from the control panel, not a thermostat on the wall. No issues with a.c.

Bathroom:
First thing I noticed is the hotel is rather cheap on towels for this room. It could be because as CRST students, we’re expected to supply our own. I’m sure they would provide more if asked, but I don’t have the need. The tub is ideal for someone who weighs 180lbs or less. But the water pressure from the shower is to die for and gets plenty hot. Countertops are granite and feature a newer faucet and sink basin. Some older features are still present like the shower head, toilet, toilet paper holder, etc. The heat lamp is amazing to have, and just so long as everything works, I don’t feel like design choices should reflect a hotel rating.

Cleanliness:
Hotel grounds and common areas are cleaned to a higher degree than the room. I’m confident that they would pass the white glove test. The room on the other hand has accumulated some level of dust, especially on areas not often clean like behind the furniture. However, when tested under blue light, it was obvious that the staff are very diligent at keeping the sheets, floors, bathroom, etc. sanitized. I don’t expect my hotel room to be like a hospital operating room so I believe it’s best to have realistic expectations. Just so long as the towels and sheets are cleaned and sanitized I am happy. While I can’t speak for others, there are no signs of mold or insects.

Breakfast:
Didn’t catch it in time but from the photos my husband took - it is considered a standard continental spread. Cereals, bread/bakery items, and waffles.

Conclusion:
The property and grounds when compared to the average nightly rate is considered “good” in my book. While there were surprises in the beginning that caused me to reevaluate my expectations for the following 3 week stay, I am very happy to be at this hotel and not my usual Hampton Inn down the street. I feel this hotel and staff greatly embodies the chorus of that Rolling Stones song “You can’t always get what you want… You get what you need.” I believe the hotel is family-run and operated, and as a result I feel very comfortable and safe here. There is true spirit and life in this hotel, and if you visit with a certain degree for the “American convenience,” you will miss it.

Our first night, was a tough experience, it wasn't any fault of the hotel. The next evening was spectacular. The staff is extremely friendly and it will definitely be our go to next time around.

Property and building is clean inside and out, staff was real accommodating after we extended our stay additional three more days and kept our same rooms. I do know that this is a 5 star compared to the Ramada down the street, where they tried to Jack up the price by150.00 for the weekend , while Sure Stay stayed the same. The handicap room has a detached shower wand for washing my dog and makes it easy for cleanup.

This is by far one of the best hotels I have been in. They have a gym, pool, laundry room, they offer breakfast. The staff is beyond nice they always greet you with a smile and a good morning. I would give them 10 stars if I could! We feel so welcome!

Great easy stay. The morning check out clerk (who also checked us in when we first arrived) was very friendly. Check in was a breeze. And check out was easy too! They gave us a printed receipt and sent an email ASAP too!

Searched online and having a budget I needed to stick with wanted to give this hotel a go even on some of the low ratings it had. My thoughts were if the owners truly cared they would read their reviews and make changes that’s necessary in order to keep your guest happy... Gave it a go and to my surprise the employees had great customer service and the rooms where very clean. I will recommend this place and will stop in again when I come into town. Keep up the great work!!!
