The Hotel at Kirkwood Center

What a unique and interesting hotel.
It’s very clean and sharp looking.
Check in was good with friendly service. Beds are very comfortable and rooms are spacious with large windows.
Hotel is connected to the culinary school and they also run the restaurant.
Quality of food was very good, just needed a bit more seasoning on everything. A touch of salt and pepper would have put it to the next level. Service in the restaurant was a bit slow but not bad.
Definitely worth a stay if you are in the area or even check out the restaurant.

I stayed here for 5 days recently with a family member at the University Hospital in Iowa City. The entire staff, from the front desk to the restaurant staff went far beyond every day to make sure our stay was exceptional. The level of commitment to the guest is very refreshing in the current times.
Our room was very clean, and well appointed with very comfortable beds and the stay over service was perfect.

Attended a seminar during morning hours. The lobby and greeting area was very well staged with fresh pastries, fresh coffee and other foods and drinks. The restrooms where very clean and modern. The meeting rooms where appropriate sized. Comfortable seating with tables. The audio visual aids helped the presentation flow perfectly. Parking was available, close to entrance and safe.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in a very nice, central location. Went for a 3 day summit, and was overly impressed with all the staff we interacted with from bartenders, servers, housekeeping, and managers. The rooms were clean and kept up very nicely with plenty of amenities.

This was the 2nd time I have stayed at the Kirkwood Hotel, but it has been a few years. The first time I appreciated the practical design features in the room-big t.v., wall length multi-purpose bench, numerous tech electrical hook up options, black out blinds, and roomy bathroom and beautiful shower. Oh the bed and pillars were fantastic too! Most of all I was impressed with the staff—all I came across from front desk, restaurant and housekeeping. I am sure all would rather not be working during the Thanksgiving holiday but their pleasant nature and service mindset was notable. I highly recommend to others.

I cannot recommend Hotel Kirkwood enough for events. Melissa, Jess, and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly, communicative, and accommodated all of our needs (even the last minute ones!) Excellent venue and food as well.

Clean, modern, and quite luxurious room accommodations for a not outrageous price. Friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant on the premises was superb.

I have been there several times for events. The location is great, the place is open and clean, and the staff is always kind and professional. This actually is the perfect place for larger events for hundreds of people. Not sure about smaller groups.

Top notch hotel with spacious rooms, sustainable products, professional staff, and cleanliness. There are spaces to meet with friends, have meetings, and socialize. There is a bar lounge, outdoor courtyard, and conference rooms for your event planning.

I stay here 2 times a year and I look forward to staying at the hotel as much as the trip. So I got to the hotel and and my shirt for the next day was all wrinkled and I’m not the best with ironing. Ms Dawn the head of house keeping come to my room right away and ironed my shirt. I’m so thankful for the staff here. If you are anywhere close stay here! The rooms are so nice!

This is a really nice hotel. I wasn’t sure when I first pulled up because it looked kind of utilitarian to me. I wasn’t overly excited about the building style. However, it probably is timeless with the way it looks. The rooms are excellent, spacious, bright and very clean. The windows in the room are huge giving you a feeling of being outside. The convention area worked very well for the conference that I attended. The staff at the front desk, bar, convention and shuttle were super helpful and friendly. This place is definitely off of the beaten path, but that’s not all bad either.

They need to move the bar from the entry of the hotel. It's a bit off putting when you walk in and you can't even function to pay attention to the check in person. It was very loud. However, this is not a complaint by all means. (It's just not my kind of thing for noise)

The rooms were clean and the shower was great, the restaurant was really good. The people awesome and very pretty hotel. I plan on staying here again next year.

Went to the convention center for corporate training. They were ready for us, had an excellent spread for breakfast, and lunch was amazing as well. The outdoor patio area was a nice place to relax during breaks in our training sessions. Very clean, well maintained facility with very friendly staff.

This property is a DELIGHT. As other reviews stated - the staff is extremely competent and helpful. They ALL went above and beyond in different ways. Zack, Brooke, Casey, Max are just a few that went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We were in Cedar Rapids for a funeral and friends we hadn't seen in years all stayed at the Kirkwood. It provided a wonderful environment for all of us. The room was spotless and the shower delightful! I think the most surprising to us was the quality of the food in the Class Act restaurant. We all live in larger cities and were impressed at the offerings. Everything was delicious and flavorful. We ended up eating all of our meals over the weekend in the hotel! I would 100% stay at this hotel again.

I don’t think I can say enough. Fantastic rooms, restaurant, and bar. The staff is great and the architecture is modern and cool. This is not what I was expecting in Cedar Rapids Iowa. So amazing that this is part of a school for hospitality and culinary arts. Kudos to the whole program.

This location is misleading. I didn't go to the hotel. I went to the restaurant. It was amazing the food was wonderful. The service was great. Drinks were spectacular. Try the duck. It's worth it.

The hotel and the room we stayed in are both beautiful, the service is awesome. Molly who ran the breakfast in the morning was absolutely AMAZING! She was externally nice to everyone and she was the only person working. She still managed to run orders from the kitchen and keep up with large demands. She was extremely generous to me and my wife each morning and very helpful with everything we wanted for breakfast. I would definitely stay here again!

I would recommend getting a room with breakfast included because you save so much on it if you stay multiple nights.

Wish I could remember names of all who served us. Wonderfully gracious and helpful. I do remember Ms Michelle, the gracious 1am night auditor who checked us out and made sure to meet our needs that stormy night. (Thanks!)

I messaged several questions before and after our stay and always received gracious, timely answer. LOVED THAT. But not near as much as I loved our room … gorgeous, roomy, and open with those stunning floor to ceiling windows… and the food at Class Act, I think their restaurant is called. Top notch all the way. Be sure to make your way to the back garden outside from the restaurant.

Highly recommend bumping up your budget a touch to get a suite! Gorgeous kitchenette with roomy fridge and optional, yet economical, huge drawer-format microwave. Need to bring your own bowls and silverware, however! __My bad I did not even ask the front desk, and as it turned out, kitchenware could have been easily supplied upon request! I should have expected such graciousness considering the rest of my experience!__

Bed is comfy and beautiful, and shower divine!
