Homestead Cafe

My wife and I stopped in there the other night and we have wanted to try the place for a while. $72 plus the $10 tip later, I walked out of their full and happy. I had never been there but I've seen the place several times and it always has people there. I had the 16 oz ribeye and my wife had the 10 oz with shrimp. Normally I take pictures of food but I did not plan on actually leaving a review for this. The decor is lackluster. It's old but it's clean in there and that matters tremendously. The food was fantastic. My steak was cooked almost correctly. I like mine medium rare and my wife likes her steak medium. Well hers was cooked well done and mine was cooked medium so they were off a little bit there but the flavor of the meat was fantastic. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to stop by for a nice dinner. Don't be thrown off by the decor and the hole in the wall atmosphere because some of those places are the best food you'll ever eat. So I recommend it 100%.

So you say that you've had excellent catfish or shrimp and home cooking not until you've come here.

I like catfish fillets and I do like fresh shrimp however this is slightly out of the ordinary. How often do you order shrimp or catfish and the breading is applied by hand The onion rings are large and crispy and done right The shrimp are good size lightly breaded and fresh. The catfish fillets are a little thinner than you might expect but they're lightly breaded - crispy and moist inside.

we have been to the homestead at lunch for their buffets however this time we because of the covet thing we stopped by in order through the takeout window. waited for a few minutes took the order home and began eating and enjoying and complimenting that there's no reason to go anywhere else for fresh breaded fish with a nice light crispy crust.

Good food at a great price.

Update. Still great food. You will not find a better lunch at their price.

We wanted comfort food for dinner while on a road trip and they weren't far from the hotel plus I saw they had fried green tomatoes so we had to stop! We were most definitely Not disappointed! They were huge and fried perfectly with a crispy hand batter just like their onion rings! They were absolutely DELICIOUS! 😋🤤 Boyfriend got the 2pc fish and it was bigger than the plate, he couldn't finish it all but it was very good! I also got the fried chicken salad but had to take it to go because I filled up on the fried green tomatoes LOL! 100% Will go back if we're ever in town again! Friendly staff and I noticed many regulars coming in because there were many friendly hugs and greetings with the customers! Recommend stopping in if you're looking for a hearty meal and down home cooking!

Great spot to stop and eat. We make it a point to visit any time we come to town. Food is awesome and the staff is great. Best waitresses that I have ever experienced!!! Highly recommend!

Food was good, service @ check out was good. We ordered our food for pick-up. Everything was just like we ordered it. It was getting late we were tired from sitting at Dr office for almost 4 hrs so we were very pleased with our food. Thank you Homestead Cafe for being here!!!

Their fried pickles are great. I was recommended to try the loaded tatter tots, by Ms. Katelyn. They were extremely good. Dine in for those, don't try to eat em and drive! Dine in or take out the service is great along with the hometown atmosphere! 👍👍

One of my go to places for a great lunch buffet or even a good ol cheeseburger for supper! Fresh food and friendly faces always!

The food is very very good we got Fried Green Tomatoes fried squash whole or filleted catfish and I got smothered chicken with peppers onions and mushrooms you can get anything you want you can get a meat and two sides very good home cook meal desserts are wonderful look it up online and they have a menu with prices. You sure will enjoy it!!!!

What a pure delight! 1st time there, drove an hour one way from Mississippi. Opened the door and the aromas of seafood were in the air. Everything on the buffet was absolutely delicious!! There were so many different choices and left there with a big smile on our faces. The young ladies working there were top of the line. Friendly and so good at their jobs.😊😉 Will be back real soon & bring friends.

Cute little country diner. Food was excellent. Portions were huge. Friendly service, and lots of regulars. If it weren't an hour from home I'd eat there regularly.
