Camino Viejo Mexican Restaurant

Great little authentic traditional Mexican food restaurant. I Love the decor. There are TV's mounted to the walls, playing various sports events. It's hidden away, off Houston Street, down from the Sherman Grayson County Courthouse and government building.. The service was excellent. The server made sure we had what we needed. Cosy smaller location with mostly booths around the walls. The food had large portions and was really good. Street 3 hour parking. There may have been a close by parking lot but we did not utilize it.

Such a great experience eating here! Our server was amazing. Brought us extra chips and salsa without us even asking. Got our orders correct even with my dairy allergy. The food was amazing. The Pastor tacos are a must!
We will definitely be back.

YUM!! We stumbled upon this Mexican restaurant looking for some street tacos, & they did not disappoint!! I had the carnitas tacos & enchiladas as part of the “create your own plate” option. The better half ordered the brisket enchilada plate, and we had the ceviche as an appetizer. No negative comments here! We are stuffed from trying to indulge every last bit! The vibe & atmosphere in the place was amazing, loved the music! TVs everywhere! & lastly the price was great! 10 out of 10 Recommen!!

Food and service was excellent 👍. I really enjoyed the chips and salsa. I was amazed at how great the freshly prepared guacamole 🥑 was. I ate the Enchiladas del Rancho. It was delicious.
Update: Had the Chimichanga Mexicana today. It was excellent. Guacamole was prepared as deliciously as every other time I've gotten it.

The Carnitas Mexicali was crazy good !!!
My wife had the stuffed avocados, and they were good too, but not like the Carnitas.
Their salsa, IMHO, was the best salsa I've ever had. There's something their roasting in it, and can't quite figure it out. We'll definitely be back.

We were looking for a new restaurant to try that was fresh and unique. Camino Viejo is a treasure that is hidden downtown Sherman. It’s so hidden, we walked right past the door. Once we entered the restaurant, it was magical. The food is prepared fresh, so the smells are divine. The walls are decorated authentically. They have TVs. It is BYOB. I usually rate Mexican food from the salsa and chips. This salsa is fresh and delicious. The chips are fresh. Before we finished our 2nd street taco, we agreed this would be a go-to restaurant for us. I highly recommend.

The food here is delicious and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back!!

Best Mexican food I have ever had!! Their salsa has an amazing toastie Flavour. The brisket tacos were absolutely amazing. The brisket enchiladas were absolutely amazing. The flan was amazing as well!

I really enjoyed this place. The food was top notch. I was hard craving some nachos so i got a mix of beef and chicken. Flavorful and cooked perfectly. I'll definitely be back!

What a great hidden gem in downtown Sherman. A little pricier than some Mexican restaurants, but definitely worth it. Wide selection of menu choices, salsa and queso were excellent. They don't serve alcohol, so it is BYOB. We will be back the next time we are in this area!

Delicious, interesting and creative! Must try the ceviche tower and shrimp stuffed avocado. Everything is so fresh and good. Our favorite place! A (not so) hidden gem!

Fantastic authentic food. The carnitas street tacos are the best I’ve ever eaten. The atmosphere is very laid back waitress was fantastic. I will make this my number 1 Mexican restaurant as it is the best in Grayson county. I have been to most others and they Dont begin to compare in taste and authenticity

My Best friend, her daughter, and I went out to lunch. I just moved here, and they came to visit. We went all out! Queso (So good!!! Didn't taste like Velveeta which I appreciate. We each had a meal that had us crying TY to the food gods!! However the best was still yet to come!! Dessert wad LITERALLY HEAVEN! I can't wait to bring my husband! I will be coming back again and again! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC 🥰

Update: Still an amazing restaurant after all these years! Today I brought a vegetarian friend in and the chef took amazing care of her and helped her find some options that would fit for her. She had accidentally ordered a dish cooked with meat and he happily took the plate back and remade her food. Just wow! A hidden gem! The food is so fresh, no corners cut. Flavorful and the best queso around!
