Old Iron Post

Dog friendly patio seating! We decided on Old Iron Post since our dog kid was with us. It did not disappoint all the food was good (cheeseburger, buffalo chicken wrap, fries apple cobbler). We also had a Margarita flight (Fireball, peach, baby blue and mimosa) they were all amazing. Our server Erin, was really great and very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely stop in again next time we are in Sherman.

This place is an absolute delight to dine in or to just sit at the bar or patio and enjoy drinks. My fave meal are the chicken habanero wings, sweet potato fries and the best spicy Bloody Mary. Love how cool this place is!

We’ve gone a few times for breakfast and lunch on the weekends. Great service and always hot, great food. I had the BLTAE sandwich with fries this time. Their fries are hand cut and cooked to perfection. Hamburgers are so good. Chips and queso are really good for not being a Mexican restaurant. Out place to go in Sherman on the weekends!

I dropped in on Mother’s Day and enjoyed a $2 mimosa while I waited for my BLT and fries. The host was very nice and the waitress was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was nice to watch people taking their mom out for lunch.

My bartender Nick was super awesome and attentive. This place is a pretty cool hole in the wall. Dart boards to kill time and have fun. Beers are cold and service is great. What more can you ask for in a local watering hole.

Stopped in for a quick drink after work today. The staff was so hospitable and made me feel welcome. They have a great beer selection for the area. The menu was stacked full of options and the burger was delicious.

Came here for late lunch while my car got a tune up at Peep’s. First time having the lemon summer shandy beer 🤩 Most probably will say ‘where have you been!’ but I don’t really drink much anymore. Best summer beer ever. Thanks to the waiter for the wonderful suggestion. He was very nice and attentive. My veggie nachos, monkey balls and fried Oreos did not disappoint either. Overall experience 5 stars.

Had a Delicious burger, perfect sweet potato fries with a yummy maple mayo on the side, and got the giant pretzel to go. Server was super friendly and the prices were good. Burger was big enough to split.

Went to try out the new old iron post and was highly impressed with it. Fast and good service. Food turned out amazing and with great service definitely will be returning soon.

Very roomy place. Outside eating too.very friendly employees. Appetizers and drinks are really good. I would have taken pictures of the Appetizers but they were so good. They went fast. We had on Appetizers, stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon and boudin eggrolls our favorite!

Best place to eat in downtown sherman for sure. A very nice place to hang out on the square and eat some bomb food!! Our server Eric was super funny and welcoming and made this a great experience. The pretzel was amazing the garlic fries are amazing. All around 5 star experience.

A great restaurant bar in Sherman . Wonderful specialities from the great fried mozzarella to the tasty entries . Burgers , TX cheesesteaks and the fried orioles . Service was fantastic and great bar atmosphere and lots of TVs to watch sports . Our server John was fabulous.

The outside of the Old Iron Post restaurant and bar is long and low, with contrasting rust colored stonework and black iron posts and trim. Inside is like waking into the largest old west turn of the century saloon you can imagine. The rustic floor to 20 foot ceiling interior is dominated by the center of the room four square bar, boasted to be the second longest in Texas. And true to its name, tall motif capped iron posts span the cavernous room from front to back through the center of the bar.

The waitstaff are the most personable and friendly you’ve ever met, wielding a menu of stick to your ribs Texas style selections of chicken fried steak, hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, and Tex-Mex, along with soups, salads, and sandwiches. If beer is your destination then you will not be disappointed with the chalk board full of listed beer offerings.

I had the Teriyaki Grilled Chicken with the pour over grilled pineapples and mushrooms sauce, along with an ample serving of their slow cooked to perfection pinto beans. My wife had the Pesto Chicken Salad Sandwich with fries. Both our plates were without a doubt most enjoyable and exceptionally well prepared. In sum total it was platefuls of amply delicious and very much rustic dining at its best.

Great food, great drinks and great service! Madison was an excellent server. There are lots of beers on draft and signature drinks to choose from. Everything we had was delicious!

Love this place! Excellent food and a very cool rustic style building. Hoping they open the rooftop for some scenic dining in the future.

On our way from DFW to Tulsa I asked Google Maps for the best restaurant in Sherman. We were ready for lunch. At the top of the list appeared the Old Iron Post. We found it just far enough off the highway to offer road relief, but without significant delay. The old downtown setting and character of the restoration made a great first impression. Our server Haley welcomed us quickly and immediately made a personal connection. I'm always impressed when a server offers authentic recommendations on my first visit. Mom and I split the fish and chips with a side salad each. Excellent fresh ingredients and upon order preparation made for a delicious and ample meal. Without intrusion, Haley took great care of us and made us feel as though we were long time friends she offered special attention to. She even answered my questions about the architecture and history of the building. I will bring more family back to Sherman specifically to visit this iconic establishment! And we will come for lunch to see Haley!

We got the recommendation to come here and try the Chicken and Waffles from a local antique shop in the square and were not disappointed!! The food and service from chase were excellent!! We will definitely come back to try more from their extensive menu!

The food was delicious! I got the beef sandwich, which was made perfectly! There were a lot of flavors that I enjoyed a lot! The service was also very friendly and I felt very respected by the staff. I didn’t get a chance to try any of their drinks, but I’ll definitely try to come back to try some. Definitely a great little place to go if you want something good to fill you up with a very friendly atmosphere.
