Red's Blues and Bbq

We stopped here 9 months ago from New Orleans back to Iowa and stayed 3 hours. It was amazing then, still amazing. Had to stop here again. Excellent food, live band best host/owner ever.

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. Red’s is the real deal. From open mic night (lots of local talent) to the booked acts, the music is great! But the FOOD will blow you away. Chef James has perfected his menu to offer the best that a smoker can deliver. He cooks on only cast iron with wood for heat in his kitchen. And the service is excellent. ‘Queen’ makes you feel at home and treats everyone like you are in her home. Love this place.

We've been going here for a while, so let me lay it down for y'all. They got some of the best dang food ANYWHERE around here.

And if you ever get a chance to enjoy one of their themed meals - DO IT. We went for Valentine's Day and the menu was out of this world! Ingredients you would have never thought to coincide together, but tasted amazing. A good chance to try something different.

They always have live music (band permitting) and it's always a great time. Our family and friends LOVE coming here. Make sure you take care of Sunshine, because she does her best to make sure we're all taken care of, as well as James and all his skills. We love that y'all are here!

I had the pulled pork egg rolls and I will never be the same again! I won't even try another menu item --- at least until I get over this obsession.
I had both side dishes available today, smoked mac & cheese and potato hash. The mac & cheese was excellent but the potato hash was a little on the cool side. I would also like salt and pepper on the table since the potato hash had no black pepper.
The restrooms are immaculate and they're single seater. They should take the male and female symbols off the door. I went in the men's when the women's was occupied.
The band, Pretty Boyz, was outstanding. They played an eclectic blend of music, from Tom Petty to INXS to Dobie Gray and Janis Joplin.
Sunshine, the co-owner and server, has a pleasant attitude. She asked me to dance when she wasn't busy. She is attentive and my glass of Michelob Ultra never ran empty.
James Roaché, the other owner, is a real chef, not just some fella putting barbecue on a bun. His dishes are unique. He locally sources and grows some of the vegetables in his Victory Garden at home.
I wish I could give them a 10!
I went back tonight - a week later - for Open Mic Night. I had the Pig Wings (ribs) with the Asian sauce. It was very tasty. A cloth napkin was a nice touch. My only complaint was too much char on the meat for my taste. But I'm the type who wants my Waffle House hash browns with no dark brown or crunchy parts.
The band. House Blend band, played for the vocalists and they did a great job. Their covers of Billy Jean (Michael Jackson) and Superstition (Stevie Wonder) were superb with their own flair.
The crowd got into the music and danced on almost every song..

This place is a whole vibe! We thought we were walking into a small town BBQ joint, but surprisingly discovered a hand crafted, made to order, chef driven, one man show, BBQ and Blues joint. I can’t think of a praise high enough for this place. Just go, and thank me later!

We loved the atmosphere! Excellent customer service!!! Superb food!! Everything is smoked over pit! Love the cajun flavors too!! Made us feel like we were back home in Louisiana!! He making amazing boudin too!! Today we had the sausage cheese plate and chicken fried steak. Please stop in and taste his food!! He's open thurs thru sun. Enjoy the outdoors patio area too Check! Found this gem the night before we left. Glad we found it, sad we didn’t sooner. Food was amazing and James and the staff were great! Band was awesome!! Highly recommend!!

A very different type of restaurant (in a good way). The food was awesome and the owner was very accommodating and entertaining! The poor guy was running whole place by himself but still took time to speak to everyone and give us a tour of the entire place. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Great food. Great music. Great atmosphere. They have the best blues music anywhere. Beats Beale Street by a mile. If you want to hear real blues music, this is the place to be. Plus the food is incredible.

This is a new local gem in Tate Co. They serve BBQ but I consider it more of a Cajun restaurant. The food is EXCELLENT. You can karaoke with a live band Saturday nights. I tried boudin with my sampler plate and love it so much I had to get boudin the second time there.

Instead of seating yourself, walk up to the serving line and order your meat and sides (it comes with a drink and the price includes taxes.) I believe they have live music Friday also. The owner, James, was featured on Food Network with his previous Jackson MS restaurant. James is a friendly straight shooter and reminds me of the typical Cajun good guy. I'm becoming a regular.

We had an awesome time at this joint! The food was great and the atmosphere was awesome!

Walked up here from GOAT PICNIC Saturday and Finally caught them when they were open. Limited menu. I had Reds wings which were incredible. Nice bark and flavor. Service was good. Cool atmosphere and tunes.

Enjoyed the family style dinner, it was delicious and a great suggestion. Enjoyed the setting and Music. We love going to places like this. It’s rustic, nothing fancy, if you want a real southern, blues and bbq place to enjoy dinner at , this is the place!

This was the best BBQ I have ever had. The brisket was completely tender with not a hint of being dry. The pork was so fully of flavor and moist that even without any sauce it was perfect. The smoked Mac was a great side and tasted wonderful. And finally the sweet tea was delicious

The food is off the charts! The music is always fantastic. Guests will greet you as you enter the building, which is rustic and comfortable. I have become quite the regular, and I've never dined on the same thing twice. There's always something fresh and new. The entertainment is constantly changing and never disappoints. If your soul has any adventure, you need to check this place out.

If there's no adventure in your palate, and if you're in a hurry to eat and leave, this is not the place for you!

Y’all better get down here because this cherry wood smoked ribeye is not done anywhere else. He even finishes it on a wood fired grill. I can guarantee that no sauce is required.

100% Recommend to everybody! The staff and owner were super helpful and friendly, the food and flavors were unreal. This guy really loves what he does and it shines through in his food!

5 stars for the "VIOLENT CHEF"
BE WARE OF POSSIBLE VIOLENCE IN THIS PLACE. Read the other bad reviews especially the one where he actually followed one woman to the parking lot.

My experience with Reds my wife and I went there and everything was great. A couple weeks later on Cinco DE Mayo. We went back with two other couples, we told them how great this place was. We all ordered, my friend ordered the steak, they were bragging about. Everyone got the food except the guy that orders the steak. After everyone was done eating my friend kindly and respectfully ask the waitress if she could check on it. Her answer was "he will cook it when he gets ready, i just work here". While she was gone i offered my friend one of my taco's he told me he doesn't eat vegetables we all had a good laugh. The waitres came back and told him the order was never put in and was apologizeing he smiled kindly told her lets not worry about it that he was having a couple beverages and would get something later. Everything was good we were all enjoying the music and the evening the waitress was great. Any ways she brought back two salads my friend explained to her that he was weird about eating vegetables. His partner got one and no one else wanted the other salad so she took it back .
Shortly after this the very big guy the Chef came out and threw the plate of salad on the table and ask what the F is your problem and whats wrong with the salad. this guy was very angry and acting like he wanted to fight. I at first thought it was a joke and this was there stick, then i quickly realized it wasn't .He was acting in a very violent way. My friend handled it very well we all tried to explain how it was all good and no worries. any ways the waitress came back we're all still stunned she wanted us to tab out. we paid for our meals and left a generous tip.

There are bible's in the front entrance so don't be fooled they are not very christian like people. Also they charged us a cover of $10 a person we got to watch the band smoking weed next to the patio for the first hour after the second hour we had to leave wondering what just happened.

Y'all! If you are looking for some dang good 5 star food, service that is personal and all inclusive with a side of rustic nostalgia, this is your place! If your local, great place for Sunday lunch (y'all know that's limited in our area)! Bbq with a cajun flare! Bbq that doesn't need sauce! Oh, and don't just go by the menu, the deviled eggs are amazing!!!
