Charlie's Catfish House

I almost gave it four stars due to the long wait at dinner time, but the catfish is so good that it deserves five stars for the catfish alone. If you like soft-cooked catfish, you won't find any better anywhere in Mississippi. Fluffy, light, delicious.. The oysters are also equally tasty. French fries could use some seasoning, but who cares about French fries when you have the best fried whole catfish that can be found?

Suggestion: Don't come between 5:30-7:30. You'll be waiting forever to get your food. Come late afternoon or at 8pm. But if you do come during rush hour, the fried catfish is worth it!

The food was good. Catfish was fresh and delicious. They bring you a bowl of coleslaw, hush puppies and a bowl with a big piece of raw onion with lemons. Did get the raw onion part and it was too thick for me to eat. However definitely will be back when I come to Mississippi. The only thing negative is that they only take cash.

Absolutely delicious!! Everything from the coleslaw to the fried oysters. We got the seafood platter and it was so much food that we had to take most of it home.

If your in a hurry,this is not the place. If you are by yourself this is not the place. If you have the time and like coleslaw and crackers then try it out. The food was seasoned and good.

It was standing room only, that's how popular they are! People came from near and far. I came 1100 miles and family took me there. The fish seasoning was awesome! They serve cornbread, Cole slaw, French fries and a Vidalia onion. $12.95. If you visit Ellisville, Mississippi or near by, please visit for their catfish! Absolutely delish!

Service is very slow not the waitresses fault they're trying to serve to many people with not enough cooks but if you're not in a hurry you can't find a better fish house

Live 2 hours from there. Every time I go through if it's Friday Saturday or Sunday. That's where I eat. Thank you all

Good food and plenty of seating. Busy on weekends -may me a wait- but worth it. Price $$, each table is served coleslaw, fries, and sliced onion. Fried shrimp is my favorite. Also oysters, catfish, seafood platter. Hamburger steak for non seafood peeps. Don't forget the wonderful sweet tea!! Family atmosphere. Cash only- ATM on site.

I am craving Charlie's as I type this!! I have been a Charlie's fan for many years. Since I no longer live in the local area, I have tried numerous fish houses/camps trying to find anyplace that could compare to Charlie's fish and shrimp. After several years searching and disappointment with each trip, I have given up.
It's worth an almost 2 hour drive to dine at my "fave!!" In fact, (Happy Birthday to me) I'll be coming on Friday of this week. My mom offered to meet me in Hattiesburg to treat me to dinner for my birthday but I suggested I drive a little farther and get what
I really love! Absolutely the BEST boiled shrimp, fried catfish, out of this world coleslaw, and perfect sweet tea! Being another year older won't be so bad after all.

Fish was awesome! Prices reasonable. Would go here again, given the chance.

Amazing as usual! My grandfather started the tradition of taking our entire family once every few months 40 yrs ago. Now my father takes us. From the time we sat down til we got our food tonight was about 10 minutes! That alone is amazing!! Not to mention that they get the order right every time and the food is always hot and fresh. NO ONE beats their catfish! Delicious.😍 Can't wait to go back.

Charlie's is an family owned business that employs several people locally. Yes it can be expensive. Yes, It takes a awhile for them to get your order. Try to call in and order BEFORE they get busy. They DO care about how the food is made.

I don't think I've ever had a complaint about them. It's always a good place to have get togethers with friends. The only issue I have is their waiting lobby can be a bit chilly during winter.

Awesome as usual for the 50 plus years I have been eating the whole catfish plate there. Best coleslaw in the entire world. But as info cash only no checks or CC! We stopped by on a recent trip through there a few days ago and still the same level of good!
