This is hands down the best Italian food I've had in the states! The food is fresh, well-seasoned, and delicate. The drink selections are excellent and they cater to any taste if you want to go off menu. Anna is incredibly attentive and a whiz behind the bar. Cassie is a friendly and charming hostess. Can't wait to go back!

Beautiful new venue, cozy intimate atmosphere. We went for a date night and had a very pleasant evening. The wait staff was very attentive. She answered any questions we had about items on the menu. We had olives and the bread appetizers. The bread dish was SO good, it was toasted to perfection with a soft inside. Just the right amount of butter and salt. The olives were warm and delicious. Our meals both came out delicious. The pasta was very fresh. We even saved room for dessert and enjoyed a local blueberry ice cream and olive oil cake. I would definitely go back to try out this cute new spot again.

Authentic Italian, reminiscent of my trips there. Fresh ingredients, light sauces, not overly garlic or overly salted, appropriate portion sizes, and beautiful wine list. I’ve been a few times and keep coming back for more. Staff is always terrific. So happy to have this gem in S Berwick.

We are so fortunate to have this restaurant here in South Berwick. The offerings are DELICIOUS and meticulously prepared - they are so representative of homemade authentic Italian food we enjoy when we visit our relatives in Italy, and presented on the owner's varied plate collection.
And while the layout of the restaurant has not changed significantly from its predecessors, the dedication to the menu is what drives us back - again, again, and again. We are definitely feeling the "Amore"!

Secundo was sooo amazing! My husband and I really enjoyed the food and their service was great! I'm defiantly adding this to our dinner spot rotation! 5 stars!!

The perfect combo of amazing food and casual atmosphere! Staff is welcoming and helpful- tried this as a new spot but will definitely be working this into the regular repertoire.

We had an excellent meal at Secundo. Thoroughly enjoyed the home made pasta and loved the atmosphere.

Another lovely dinner at secundo! We always look forward to dining at festina lente and now the newly secundo that has given South Berwick a breath of fresh air with an elevated feel. My husband and I sat at the bar and enjoyed some lovely cocktails, starters and a main that blew us away. If you are looking for fresh homemade dishes this is the place!

Nice Grappa. Well executed but limited menu

No AC on a 95 degree day.

Freshly made pasta unique drinks. The atmosphere was the same as the other two restaurants in this location. The restaurant seems to have multiple personalities. The food and drinks are high end but the attire of the staff that I saw was extremely casual. My waitress was fine and I have no complaints about the service I got. I think the restaurant has a level of food quality that could take the restaurant to the next level if some changes to the atmosphere and staff attire happened.

Secundo is the sister location of Festina Lente, a beloved Italian spot in Kittery. The menus share a lot of commonalities. The food was middle of the road - I enjoyed my cacio e pepe, which you also will if you love black pepper, and the caesar salad was grilled, providing a fresh take on a classic. However, one of my companions ordered the scampi and the shrimp was very overcooked - something that shouldn’t happen to one of the most expensive items on the menu. The real highlight was the cocktails - the limoncello spritz in particular was fantastic and something I would go back to order! Hoping that this spot finds its footing because the service was great and I think South Berwick deserves a great Italian spot with staying power.

Fresh restored interior. Minimalist setting. UnderCooked main as well as no scent of Italian herbs & spices. Unmemorable for me. No bread. No local conversation. No bread?..

Unfortunately the host staff and the atmosphere do not hold up to the food. I saw in another review similar sentiments were expressed. They can't take criticism either. Kicked us out because we commented on the backless seats and pointed out that while the hostess offered us a choice between a two top and a four top and we chose the four top she backtracked and said "Oh no, I'm saving that for a foursome". Ten minutes later she sat a couple. You don't ever have to wait for a table though, I guess that should have been a tip off.

Very disappointing. May 18 2024 We enjoy dining all types of food and are not picky but unfortunately there was no part of our meals or service that would make us even consider going back. Big miss all levels. Limited strange bar selections.
Menu descriptions were not true to what came out.. Orecchiette dish looked nice on delivery but had no flavor, no salt and pepper on the table, to try to enhance it and no server came back to ask how our meals were.. Sausage in the dish had no flavor and in fact, if I had to guess was microwaved (tough and an odd flavor). We also got shrimp scampi. In fairness the server did comment it was not what we were used to - that “is a traditional dish more fishy flavor from Italy” -This made us excited! Again no flavor, not even the shrimp, no garlic. It was as if the only addition was fish sauce you use in oriental cooking.. Very odd experience.
Really too bad was excited for new dining option in South Berwick.
