Tasting Soul Food

The fish fry plate was so good! The seasoning blend and coating for the fish and shrimp was just right. The catfish fillet was cooked perfectly (taste and texture). Our plates were well packaged and stayed secure for the drive home. Since moving to the area, we haven’t been able to find soul food. Tasting Soul Food definitely fills a void in this area. By the way, we’ve already pre-ordered our next soul food plates of turkey wings.

I Google Southern Fried Fish and Tasting Soul Food came up and I read the reviews. I called and my order was taken over the phone and the man was nice. I also spoke with Shar. The food was ready and I took a minute to get back and the food was still good. I am very picky about soul food and down home cooking. I am from Mississippi and California and my folks can cook. I ordered fried shrimp, it came with coleslaw and baked beans. I was in the area as I work at Fry's on 67th & Bell. It wasn't too far. I reside in Phoenix. The baked beans off the hook, and coleslaw very tasty. Do yourself a favor and call Tasting Soul Food. They know how to cook. I am not always a weekend cook. I like to treat myself once a week at least. The portion is fair for the price. They are good " peeps". I highly recommend it's worth the drive. The food and service great. I met Shar who gave me curbside service. I ordered fried shrimp, it came with coleslaw, baked beans, a dinner roll, a slice of cake and a soda. The portion was fair for the price. The shrimps were perfect in taste, and texture, devein very clean. The baked beans delicious, coleslaw tasty. I recommend this Tasting Soul over " Mommas Soul Fish and Chicken in Phoenix 🍤. I mean no disrespect but the truth . Do yourself a favor and check out Tasting Soul Food. I'm a Mississippi, California girl. They both has great food. These are Tennessee folk. I've been to Tennessee and they can cook. I will definitely, be going through the menu. These are good " peeps ". The Lord bless your business.

Food was good! Very much like being over at family’s house. Tasteful, quick, and simple . I had the catfish with two sides: spaghetti and coleslaw. It also came with a Pepsi and bread with a little slice of chocolate cake! All for $15. Steve was very hospitable and allowed us to wait in his living room. Definitely will be back!

Just a nice little mom and pop style business run out of their home, food was good and came with an RC Cola. Shrimp was delicious and so was the cole slaw and chili mac. Service was great and prompt. Very nice couple.

I haven’t had food this good since leaving the south. Waiting for my food was like being at a family fish fry. The Blues music playing and the aroma coming from the kitchen took me back to my years of growing up in Arkansas.

I plan to order again and again.

Yes you are in the right place when you pull up! Call the number and wait 10 minutes of goodness! No photos because I couldn’t wait lol only $15!!! And you get a complete meal!!!

DAMN! This food is righteous. So glad I went and found this place. Tasty and absolutely delicious. Everything is so flavorful and cooked to perfection.

I called 15 minutes ahead so the fish were 🔥🥵 when I arrived to pick it up.

It's a decent mom-and-pop restaurant in the area if you are craving for soul food.

Only open from 1-8PM on Friday.

My family was looking for a soul food establishement in the area and when googling came across Tasting Soul Food so decided to give it a try. We had catfish, shrimp, sweet potatos and black-eyed peas. The food was delicious and we will definitley be going back. Very good and we highly recommend it!

This is an absolute hidden gem, y'all! The food is PHENOMENAL! And at a very fair price. The owners are really cool, super down to earth folks. Loved everything about my experience here and will definitely be back!

Fish and shrimp were seasoned perfectly! Corn bread was fire. If you're craving a good meal you need to try this! First time here and will definitely be back!

Everything is always perfect. It is just like eating a home cooked meal from your ma which makes it so great.

Food was sooo good!!! Tried it on a whim and it did not disappoint. The food was so flavorful and the fish was fried to perfection. I literally drove up, ordered and was on my way in a few minutes. Can’t wait to try other plates! It’s a must-try!!!

Extremely good food, was blown away buy their fried fish recommendations. Easy to order and deal with, will definitely be back! Would recommend to anyone looking for freshly made food just like they make it in the south!

Wow! Just Wow! The fish was perfection. Tender and cooked just right. The greens were awesome! The beans would make my grandma jealous. Plus cornbread, dessert, and tea. A Taste of the South is a great family enterprise who knows how to feed you. We'll be back!

This was our second visit tonight and they did not disappoint. We had the wings tonight prior to that the fish and the fish dinner is our favorite. Great service very friendly and welcoming. Always greeted with great hospitality we will definitely be back. Thank you!!

OMG!! AMAZING FRIDAY 🐠 FRY!! FISH, GREENS, BEANS.. CORN BREAD, BROWNIE.. AND COLD DRINK!! Easy to order easy to pick up only $15 !! Enough to feed 2 people! Thanks Steve see you next week for the Ribs on Saturday afternoon. We loved it yes we will be back.

It's extremely delicious, the fried catfish has great crunch and the collard greens have nice sized pieces of pork. I will definitely be going back!
