CGH Medical Center: Emergency Room

I was a little worried to go because of the reviews but my experience was just fine. Was there about 2 hours but went around 5pm on a Thursday, it wasn't very busy. Some of the nurses were friendlier than others but none of the ones I encountered were rude or unpleasant. I dealt with Brian Johnson as the nurse practitioner- he was super nice, explained everything well, got meds ordered, and ran multiple tests to make sure there wasn't a bigger issue than what he originally thought. I was happy with my experience at the CGH ER.

My daughter was here a couple days ago before being transferred to the childrens hospital in Peoria, I didn’t get everyone’s name who worked with us but everyone was fantastic! Our doctor Cory did a phenomenal job at giving us some clue as to what was going on and one of the nurses I believe her name was Jessenia was the absolute BEST with my daughter! She was calm, friendly, and just the absolute sweetest person to my daughter! If you were a nurse on 8/21/2021 in the ER I want to thank you for helping me and my family so wonderfully!!!

We are very lucky to have found this ER for my sons tongue stitches- the doctor, nurses and check in staff were all amazing!!

Upon arrival, the staff promptly requested X-rays to be placed on a doctor's desk. However, I spent an extended period of four hours in the waiting room, observing others arrive with ailments ranging from children's sicknesses to back injuries—conditions seemingly less critical than a crushed hand. Yet, these individuals were expedited ahead of me.

I am keenly interested in reviewing the hospital's official guidelines regarding patient prioritization and treatment protocols. This inquiry aims to understand the rationale behind allowing patients with seemingly less urgent needs to proceed before others who have been waiting for hours to receive care.

I hope this hospital has a good attorney.

I personally love CGH never had an issue first time visiting the ER and it was not that busy wait time was 2 hours. However my MIL the one being seen had hit her head and was bleeding .. she received staples and after being in the back getting assistance they didn’t clean her up they sent her home with a bloody head , matted hair , and 4 staples and told her Don’t get your hair wet ?! ok so why didn’t you assisted the 75 year old women by washing her hair cleaning the area and then doing the staples .. they sent her home looking like this .. obviously we helped but the fact is would you send you mother home like this ?

I took my Father in on the 3rd shift around 11pm, there is two nurses Emma and Sara, Sara needs to learn some bedside manners and listen, my father’s meds were changed and she wouldn’t even listen or give us the time of day, smiled and said I got it, I already know, she will be one of the reasons I never use them again. Absolute little brat in my opinion.

I arrived with my 77 year old mother presenting with laying in bed for four days, vomiting, lack of appetite and fluids. Although she was assessed by two very nice nurses, they sent us back to the waiting area until a room opened. FIVE hours later my mother was still in the waiting room! We finally left without seeing a Dr. due to my mother had had enough of trying to be comfortable in a hard chair while feeling weak and nauseous. I have never had an experience like this from any ER

I came in around 9pm with my mother and 3 daughters (3,7,8) for a covid test. Right away they told us we wouldnt get reaults for 3 days, but i wantwd to make aure my girls didnt get any of the side effects. All 3 girls had fevers with other symptoms, and my mom and i have been having multiple symptoms for days. They took my mom and my 3 year old and put them in one room. I got the next room with my other 2 girls. We have all been swabbed hours ago. Right now it is almost 2am and still no doctor. I thought covid was high priority, but we are in the first 2 of 8 rooms and still havent been seen...

I was taken to this hospital by ambulance was sent to triage witch was normal waited in the triage room for 2 hours then was taken to a room for treatment. When the doctor finally came in an hour later I explained what was wrong. This doctor then looked at me proceeded to tell me I don’t know what is wrong with my body and was being very condescending then entire time. When I requested to leave due to his attitude after 3 hours and having a second blood test with out being told anything from the 1st round he came in and gave me a fake apology and was even more condescending then the 1 time he come to talk to me when I 1st got there.
This is the worst hospital I have ever been to in my life. No excuse for this doctor to have acted like he did. Will go out of my way for medical care from now on.

Was left in a room,no i.v. no vitals for 3 hours. When I paged and complained about how much pain I was in and that my fever felt like it was back up, I still received no help. (They turned my pager off completely)My boyfriend was told "I didn't have a fever" when he called, which is funny because they didn't take vitals over the course of 3 hours and when I walked out after 3 hours and we drove to OSF peoria my temperature was 101.7 when I got there and I had damage to my kidney and extreme dehydration, and a tear in my lung and also pneumonia. Also cgh said they were busy, well OSF was packed and still managed to get my fever under control, a pain med, and vitals before I was even in a room. Ended up at KSB today as I slept the day away and didn't get a chance to call my doctor, and they got me in quickly, labs and actual medicine for my lungs and body pain very quickly and they were friendly

Never been to this hospital new to the area. I brought my son in for medical care the front desk lady was very nice. We got to a room which first nurse practitioner was a male who was very Rude then the RN comes in named krista which was worst nothing but very RUDE and disrespectful

This is the most incompetent farce of an emergency room I've ever seen. They forget to give you the pharmacy prescription card, then run you around on the phone when confronted about their incompetence. Refuse to phone your meds in, essentially forcing a second visit from you for the same exact diagnosis. Wouldn't bring a dead animal here even. If I had a choice I'd go to Peoria

my mother was grave robb on 3/2/22 they took her cash jewelry. even the funeral home can see her jewelry was cut off. this place is a joke

Absolutely terrible I told the nurse I have a infection on my tailbone causing sepsis she literally rolled her eyes at me told me I have to wait in the lobby after 2 hrs I left untreated by anyone this place is unbelievable go to ksb in Dixon

I’ve been here over 5 hours and still waiting. Many people have been here much longer and already walked out

If Nurse Practitioner James Earl walks into your room, RUN! He doesn't care about his patients at all!
