Ole Barn Knoll Trailhead

Mule Deer Trail starts here, one of my favorite hikes within an hour of Denver.

A must do, starts with a steep incline and a pretty tough 2 miles, then it pretty much smooth sailing from then on out. You'll go through a pine forest, then see a cool cabin, followed by an aspen forest, stop at the viewpoint, then finish going through some grasslands.

I think it's an outstanding hike, and I almost never see anyone on it! Total Seclusion!

I use this trailhead several times a year. It has ample parking, picnic tables, and restroom (not plumbed) facilities. I do a loop through Frazier Meadow and then do the Coyote Trail to Bootleg Bottom and back to Old Barn Knoll. In the fall, the colors on this loop are fantastic.

I loved hiking from this trailhead. We crossed the street to start the Mule Deer trail. It was a fabulous loop! Maybe 9 miles or so, and very scenic. It is mostly in the forest.

Beautiful location, especially in the Fall!
