I come here about once a week and I’m always greeted and welcomed. I love the opportunity to hold the animals with the help of the staff. I love the fact that you are able to take pictures with any animal you desire. The Tri-County Humane Society is a great place to Adopt, Volunteer, and Donate.

I've volunteered here and have had family members adopt pets here. They do a wonderful job in both areas!

As for volunteering, they thoroughly train you and provide support after if you have any questions. Volunteers do tasks that are safe and comfortable for them, they are not required or told to do anything dangerous. If a task or interaction is uncomfortable, a staff member will happily take over. They want to ensure that their volunteers are happy and safe (this also keeps the pets safe, too). I would definitely recommend volunteering here!

As for adopting, the viewing process is nice and staff are happy to answer any questions. They don't rush you and let you get a feel for the animals personality. The paperwork is straightforward and relatively quick to fill out. They care about each of their animals and do their best to make sure they're happy and healthy from the time they come in to when they're adopted.

Overall, they truly do care about the animals in their care and are a great organization!

Staff and volunteers were kind and knowledgeable. I was offered a private room to meet and greet a couple of kittens I was interested in. The room had a couple chairs, toys and treats available that allowed me to interact and see the personalities of both kittens without the distraction of other visitors and cats.
It was very helpful in finding which kitten and I "clicked" best.

The adoption and payment process was very straightforward. Kittens are $200 however, It's nice that the kitten was already neutered and chipped before I even took him home. 17 years ago when I adopted my previous 2 kittens from TCHC, they were not fixed, I had to do that within a month of bringing them home, and that cost more than $200.

They also sell basic pet supplies so you can get what you need if your bringing home a pet for the first time.

Tri-County Humane Society was easily located close to MN-10 in a facility that is about 4 yrs old. Very nice, bright and happy facility with great volunteers that were helpful and caring. So excited that we were able to adopt the newest member of our family, re-named Shadow.

I recently adopted mop here and everything has been a 10/10 experience. What I really like about the place is that they keep a record of everything and they are super nice! Whatever questions you have about adopting kittens they will definitely answer!

We adopted Willis 6 years ago. He was 16. He was the sweetest natured cat I've ever known. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully at home tonight. We're so grateful to the Society for passing him on to us. There's nothing better than rescuing a senior cat.

Gummy has been with me coming on two years now, and he is my heart and joy. Although he had more breeds than advertised I am happy with the puppy I adopted. These are pics of Gummy now and when he first came home.

The wonderful staff and volunteers at Tri-County Humane Society not only were kind and helpful, but were able to help me make a knowledgeable decision in selecting one of the Crosby cuties to be my forever friend! Both Newt and I thank you for putting us together! Can't thank you enough for all the wonderful work you all do!

When our family decided to get another pet we knew we wanted to "adopt not shop". I visited the Tri-County Humane Society and was overwhelmed not just by how many animals were there but the rate at which they were coming in and also being adopted. I expected to find one, over-worked employee/volunteer attempting to help people while answering phones, etc..
What I found instead was a full staff of employees and volunteers eager to help with tons of helpful knowledge and insights into the individual animals as well as just the animals in general.
I had my eye on a couple cats but was advised that they would do better in a home without other pets. So, instead, I decided to take home a six year old domestic shorthair named Tate.
Our little Tator Tot was TERRIFIED of everything when we got him. Fast forward one month and he is like a totally different cat! He is brave and curious and full of zest, personality, and life! He is also the SWEETEST cat I have ever met, who wants all the pets and cuddles he can possibly get!
TCHS let me take him for $100 which felt like robbery to me because he had more than that in vet care alone at the shelter. I can not articulate the extent of the love in that building. It is palpable. Every human there is invested in every animal that comes through their doors.
In my time there, I also got to witness staff interactions when people came in to surrender their pets. I watched and listen to them treat those people with kindness, respect, and dignity knowing that no pet owner ever wants to have to surrender their pet. Their staff treats everyone kindly, across the board.
I can not possibly say enough great things about this amazing organization and the work they do. We are so blessed to have them as a part of our community. I wish I could shake the hands of and thank every single person with a hand in helping this very worthy cause. I can not. However, I can assure anyone reading this that the people in this organization are doing God's work and are the closest thing to living angels as I have known.
Please consider donating to this very worthy cause. Every dollar helps. I am not employed by or affiliated with TCHS whatsoever. I am just a really big fan and am grateful they exist! On behalf of all animals and also all people, thank you Tri-County Humane Society. Keep up the amazing work!

I've been volunteering here for about a year now and I believe its the best thing thats happened to me. I love working here and hanging out with cats. I hope to work here or become a vet when I get older and this has definitely put me on the right track.

Please consider adopting, we have plenty of animals that need friendly homes.
ps all these cats that are shown have been adopted and have happy homes.

Im sorry my photos distorted into 360s

Edit: going on 2 years as a volenteer and I truly believe their is no better shelter. This place is so amazing and I hope everyone who comes here only has good experiences.

A family member of mine adopted a cat from here... the staff was so nice and helpful and due to her age she didn't have to pay an adoption fee but still donated to this place as they always need donations to keep this going... they really care about the animals there and take great care of them... the cat that my family member ended up with is so sweet and amazing... they were up front with everything the cat did have and what they would need as this cat was newly vaccinated and was spayed... unfortunately they aren't able to test for feline leukemia and FIFV I may be wrong on the letters but I know it's something like that because they just don't have the funding... I am glad they are honest and I wish they had the funding to give the animals those test but they would if they could... the lady at the desk was honest about how the cat acts and it was confirmed how sweet, snuggly, playful and overall an amazing cat that gives my family member lots of love and comfort as they needed a comfort animal and a companion to be around... I really appreciate all the hard work and dedication that the employees and volunteers do for the animals... all animals deserve a new home and they strive to accomplish this... there website gives great pictures and descriptions and they also do a deposit to hold an animal you would like since they do go really fast and for the cat was $20... they have really nice cat carriers for sale at a really great price and have 2 sizes as I forgot to bring one along... I was really impressed and happy with the whole experience and now my family member has a companion to help with loneliness and overall health improvement and stress relief that animals bring... thanks so much to everyone for everything you do... keep up the great work!!! I hope people adopt especially the older animals as they don't get as much want as the younger ones but they all need great homes and this is a great place to goto...

5 star for the service to animals who need those services, but I have called to request the adoption of my cats Panda and Lola. They have informed me they will put a no-money hold on them and refused to acknowledge my request to call the other family to inform them of my decision to adopt them back. My son lost his job, and now feeling the loss of the cats. The cats are the remaining lifeline for his mental health, I am kindly requesting to be considered a priority in adopting the cats from my home over the other family. My kids know them better than the other family. The cats will be thankful to go back to their home where they know everyone rather than a new home. Thank you

Wonderful place!!
But if you see a stray animal it 50 dollars just to be dropped off just a forewarning I wasn't told that over the phone I was just kind of freaking out because I had a stray cat in my basement and I have two giant dogs and my boyfriend is allergic to cats but they where kind enough to except that I spent all my money on this cat and I donated my dog's stuff that they don't use anymore and whatever I bought for little girl the stray cat I found crying in my yard I could have called animal control but she would have been dead already horrible place!!!
