It's challenging to get to, but well worth the drive! Some very rough off-roading and 4X4 is a must! Peaceful location and incredible views!

Beautiful hike! 4wd Recommended to get to the parking lot. If u have 2wd like me I parked at the dirt road turn off and hiked the road to the parking lot. Dirt road is really rocky with loose rocks. Hike is nice but really steep when your close to the mountain. So worth the climb!

Gorgeous hike from Loch Lomand up to the alpine lakes above. Much of it was no trail and steep but I like those things! Amazing wildflowers even in late august and waterfalls everywhere. One of my favorite hikes so far!

Breathtaking views! You feel like you're in a different world exploring the many trails that lead to the lake. We went on an overcast/rainy afternoon and had the most wonderful time!

Lovely dog-friendly hike up to clean and swimable alpine lakes. Or you can drive your water toys and camping gear all the way up to the first lake. Camping is allowed (it seems like) anywhere you want to set up-- even along the way there are a few small inlets to pull over and park. We gradually got used to the water and swam for about an hour but next time will wear wetsuits for warmth. Expect to run into friendly badasses who dive off boulders into the glacial lakes and children who climb boulders next to slippery waterfalls wearing crocks (Max!!)

Very beautiful trail up to the lake with scenic Mountain Views. A waterfall awaits you at the top.

Bring plenty of sunscreen AND bug spray!! The mosquitoes were so bad.

Be cautious of the road to get to the top. It’s only for 4x4 and off-road vehicles. Very narrow (one way traffic usually) and difficult to drive

This is a great trail that runs between Loch Lomand and the higher lakes. A large part of the trail hugs the creeks, and there are many rapids and small waterfalls along the path, as well as some really cool rock formations and some amazing alpine scenery. Because the road to Loch Lomand is very much a 4 wheel drive track, you generally get more of the "serious" outdoor types up here, and a lot of them don't go up the trail, so this is one of the more isolated places in the Front Range. Be warned though, the trail is not well marked, and in some of the shrubby areas, you can lose the path.. Also, if you get off trail, you can end up in some really boggy areas, so watch that as well. Finally, despite what the google map here shows, the trail continues past Steuart Lake up to Ohman Lake, which is the best of the three lakes on the trail, as it is the only one that is completely natural.

It is a rough drive to get to the trail but worth it. It has a water fall and layers of lakes as you hike up that are breath taking. Great fishing spot too.

Very Rocky trail. The waterfall was just starting to flow after winter's icy grip.
