The BLT salad was great. The fish was cooked well and portion was large enough to bring home for a sandwich the next day. Hush puppies good and fresh.

Nice looking spot on the inside. Got the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with fries for the road. Would sit down at the bar next time. Huge portion for the price!

Our Friday afternoon visit around lunch wasn't busy yet. Fantastic quick service too. The only appetizer we had was the cheddar cheese cubes with made fresh buttermilk dip that cools your mouth
after the spicy goodness of the creamy cheese with the excellent crispy spicy coating. The fried fish is crispy and fluffy not oily or soggy and spiced perfectly, fries are crispy and fluffy perfection. Another of us had the fried green tomato and pimento cheese sandwich the was on crispy not too thick Texas toast with the house voodoo sauce and beautifully tangy not sweet and the crunchiest onion rings I've found around. The last diner of our group had an absolutely juicy with crispy edges pulled pork plate with two side. One was a crispy bacon pasta salad with that incredible ranch dressing again and hamburger beans . Not your typical baked bean. Wonderful. We did take in and extra side to try the coleslaw and it rounds it out to a large portioned, delish lunch that we all took half home from those big portions. Moderately priced and worth the ride to Duquoin to pop in for lunch. On weekends they do a pork steak that definitelyakes the drive well worth it! Impeccable service and fantastic food on thewnu will definitely bring us back. I have to go try everything!

Both the chopped brisket and the pulled pork sandwiches were excellent. Fast and attentive service and very good prices on the full menu. Can't wait to go back

This place was recommended to us for their food being great. Me and my husband were in the area and stopped in. The food was freaking awesome!! Great service, friendly staff, cold beers. We didn’t have to wait long for our food which we had fried fish (huge catfish filets) and probably the best baked beans I have ever had. Look forward to stopping in next time we’re in the area and trying some other items on their menu. Definitely recommend this place!!

Update: went again and blown away. The waitress was amazing and explained everything we asked her. The food, as always, was so delicious. Great atmosphere, great prices, and amazing food. Food is given quickly (definitely recommend the onion blossom, and the spoon bread). My husband, son, and I have never had anything less than amazing from the Salty Boar.

Absolutely fantastic!!!!!! Our family ordered literally everything on the menu to try it and we were blown away at both the flavor and and quality. The ribs stole the show. Hands down the best we have ever had. The chicken, pulled pork, and brisket we full of flavor as well. And the sides were uniquely made and delicious. We will visit again for sure.

The Salty Boar has some of the best BBQ I’ve had in Southern Illinois. The server was very kind, the people are friendly. It’s just what you’d expect from a small town. Kindness served with great BBQ. If passing through or going to visit, put this little spot on your list . Try the Beef sandwich…

Really nice menu. Tasty food. Loved the chicken and waffles. Just an old corner bar, which I grew up on, with a Foosball table. Reasonable prices. What more do you want?

Amazing food, friendly service, nice atmosphere.

The food here is amazing! Great place, great atmosphere. We bought the pulled pork sandwich, the pulled chicken sandwich, and the pulled brisket sandwich. Also a full rack of ribs, and several sides. We purchased the farm slaw, potato salad, and cucumber and tomato salad. The cucumber tomato salad it had a lot of vinegar,like a refrigerator pickling. The potato salad was a chipotle salad, so it had a smokey flavor. The farm slaw was like a Cole slaw it didn't have to much mayo or vinegar. All of the sides tasted great. None of the sandwiches was dry at all. The bbq sauce is delicious! Not to sweet, tangy or spicy. It does have the great bbq taste though. The ribs cost $20 a rack. It is definitely worth the money. The are FREAKING DELICIOUS!! They just fall off of the bone. So moist, juicy and tender. I will definitely order from them again and again. They do not disappoint with their bbq!

Great new place downtown. I’ve had the pulled pork, pulled chicken, smoked Italian beef, and pit beans. All delicious. He is expanding the menu every week too!

Service was good, the owner went around making sure all tables were satisfied with their food.

Cant beat the pulled pork, or the service. Excellent place to visit. I highly recommend. And they have STAG that is good and cold, another plus.
