Creative Metal Design

Last year, I was given 5 links from a WWII Navy anchor chain, engraved with family names. The chain was about 5-6 feet in length and weighed close to 450 pounds. it was a beautiful gift, but I then needed to decide what to do with it. After contacting a number of companies, and running through a million ideas, we decided to work with the team at Creative Metal Design. They were able to help brainstorm ideas, they created multiple drawings so we could narrow it down, they helped us picked the right finish (in this case a bronze powder coat) and then they turned the raw chain into an unbelievable 6-foot tall, 650-lb bronze sculpture. This is something that we'll have for the next 100+ years in my family and this team did an amazing job! Thank you!

My son died in September. He had written in a lot of journals throughout his life. In all of his writings he always had this doodle on the pages, and those that loved him knew about this doodle. I asked Creative Metal Design if they could create Walker's doodle in metal. They did not disappoint. From the very beginning they were respectful of our feelings, helpful, patient, and asked all the right questions so they could get it exactly the way we wanted it to look. We had a lot of back and forth (this was all done through email) and they were great about showing us the different options, sizes, colors and materials and the option of with or without a frame. I wish every person, company or service was this wonderul to interact with on a daily basis. I highly recommend Creative Metal Design for anyone looking for a unique piece of art from your design or anything that they might create for your home. The last photo is one of the pictures that I sent Creative Metal Design to show them the doodle.

Pete and Cedric were wonderful to work with through the design, measure & template, build, and install process. They recommended we start with images of fireplace doors we liked, and went from there.

I had a bell from an old railroad engine and was looking for a metal fabricator who could construct a bell frame to display it. After searching the internet, I came upon Creative Metal Design and was greatly impressed with high quality and vast array of different pieces of art and other installations.

The bell and its new frame was a birthday present to my grandson who was fascinated with the story of the sinking of the iron ore carrier EDMUND FITZGERALD in Lake Superior on November 10, 1975 with the loss of the entire crew of 29. The bell in its new frame is also a homage to the actual ship’s bell that was brought to the surface in 1995 and now part of the Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point in Northern Michigan.

The frame that the Creative Metal Design group produced was perfect as the pictures portray and truly a smaller version of the actual bell.

I include a number of pictures of the completed project and a picture of the original bell as is came to the surface from 535 feet below Lake Superior in 1995.

A few years ago I designed and built an oxbow gate for our garden, and I always wanted to hang a lantern over the gate. I searched for years for a blacksmith or an artist who designed in metal, only finding 2 or 3 to even consider the project. When I found Creative Metal Design, I was so pleased with Pete's understanding of the project and ability to design to my specs. This isn't just a static sculpture (although it delivers on that front!) but it will be wired with a suspended lantern. Pete was able to fabricate what I needed and even surpassed my expectations. He really fussed over the fit & finish, and the finished product is amazing!

I am so happy I found Creative Metal Design. Previous owners had removed two of the three railings on the top floor to install window's AC units, Pete did a beautiful job in recreating new ones, they look absolutely as if they had been made over 100 years ago.
While renovating our deck, the railing broke, the repair had to be done onsite. Unless you knew when the brake was, you would never guessed it had been repaired, great job!

Creative Metal Design created an interior cable railing banister for us. They were a delight to work with and clearly wanted to make sure we were satisfied. They (particularly Elisabeth and Mark) were great in all aspects, from scheduling, to the design (including color selection), construction, and installation. The finished product looks great, and we could not be more pleased or recommend them more highly.

We wanted something unique to hang above our family room sofa, and were enamored with the shop's work. Starting with a vague idea, we iterated with Cedric and Pete several times to firm the design up. CAD drawings supplied by Cedric were extremely helpful in visualizing what it would look like and getting the dimensions and color right. They also worked through tricky issues in fabrication and mounting that we had never considered. They were great to work with, and what they produced was better than we could have imagined.

Pete, Cedric, and the whole team created an amazing piece of art! We gave them our very rough image and they worked from the scratch to develop it. It came out exactly the way we were thinking about it. They really worked hard, and were patient and understanding as we tried to explain what we are looking for.

We had an excellent experience with CMD. We started the dialogue at the early stages of the Covid situation, and were able to continue, on line, sharing thoughts and photos throughout. As a result, we have a beautiful outdoor wind chime stand, which holds a chime a dear friend gave me for our new home 12 years ago!
