This place is a hidden gem. A small quaint cafe with warmth and happiness inside. My wife and I shared the Philly cheese steak sandwich, a bowl of soup and a Marionberry cheesecake. Everything was very good. My wife loved the cheesecake. We loved the charm and I plan to return in the morning for breakfast. My wife enjoys sleeping in and I enjoy eating breakfast.

If you are visiting Seaside, you MUST visit the Chalkboard Cafe. What a lovely little cafe with lovely people serving their patrons!!! When we first walked through the front door, they'd just taken puff pastries out of the oven ( Marionberry with cream cheese or Peaches with cream cheese) and the smell alone made them irresistible! They are fabulous! Great choice!
We also ordered pancakes, eggs, and bacon breakfast that was very tasty and cooked to perfection. Happy vibes inside make you want to linger and savor your coffee and meal. It is " off the beaten track" on Broadway Street on a pathway that runs adjacent to Necancium River. So worth it!!

Friendly, excellent service. Great ambiance and good chats.
Huge portions of good food.
Real biscuits and gravy, properly fried shrimp. What more can you ask for.

P.s. - The birds like chalkboard cafe too! Keep an eye on your food, a little clap lets them know you aren’t in the sharing mood today 😊

The atmosphere here is really delightful. They have really great fresh baked goods and I really do enjoy a gluten-free crinkle. The Philly Cheesesteak is one of the better ones. I’ve had my life. The food is good here and I enjoy coming in to get a tree on my walk by.

The Chef is Amazing! We had two of our weekend meals here. He shared his potato seasoning recipe. He was proud of his Mother’s Day special, pictured! What a fun vibrant place. Such an amazing addition to the Seaside experience. Love it! Thank you!

If you have a gluten free family member, this place is a dream come true for breakfast. Country gravy, biscuits, fried chicken Benedict, all gluten free! Super friendly owners and cool atmosphere as well as incredibly well priced!

Excellent food with homemade biscuits! I got the redneck Benedict - the biscuit was incredible and tied the whole thing together! Friendly staff and a fun decor, lots of plants in the windows, we will definitely return next time we are visiting the coast.

Amidst our OR coast vacation dining experience, my family and I decided to take a break from seafood and go for a plain ol' sandwich. Our expectations were not high -- we were just cold, hungry, and needed some sustenance at an ordinary restaurant in between souvenir shopping stops. Our first clue that our experience was not going to be ordinary was the decor -- what an interesting looking and inviting place, with a way cool mural on the wall, custom-made tables with gorgeous inlays, and an abundance of tasteful items and photos adorning the interior. The staff all wore tie dyed outfits and were very welcoming.

I wish I had thought to take photos of our food, because the dishes were amongst the best we've ever had and I would have loved to have posted images of what they looked like for this review. I ended up having the quiche, and my wife and mother-in-law split the philly cheese steak sandwich. Wow! I had to steal a bite of the sandwich, which was generously stuffed with slices of ribeye steak, green and red peppers, and cheese. I am trying to improve upon my own quiche recipe, so I had to have theirs. It was the best quiche I've ever had. I had all sorts of questions on how Chalkboard's quiche was made, and the owner/chef Ken came out and gave me all sorts of pointers on his quiche prep. It turns out that Ken has formal training as a chef and decades of experience in high end restaurants. Preparing the Chalkboard menu items constitutes a very, very small percentage of Ken's culinary skill set, and quite frankly is child's play for him; however, focusing on that comparatively narrow menu allows Chalkboard to deliver food that is consistent and of superior quality.

I need to come back to the decor and outfits. Ken's wife and Chalkboard co-owner Angela painted the large mural on the wall, and her son made the beautiful inlaid tables. Ken makes all the tie dyed outfits worn by the staff, and the tie dyed t-shirts and aprons are for sale in the store. I love that Ken and Angela have poured so much of their versatile artistry into this establishment.

Overall, what started as a simple meal amidst sightseeing turned out to be the highlight of our day. We will be returning to sample more of Ken's cooking, and to see our new friends before we leave.

It is a small cafe that has great homemade food. The workers were amazing. They have the most amazing desserts. Merionberry cheesecake Is a must, but they sell out quickly.

Wow! This is THE place in Seaside- my quiche and soup were amazing and clearly made with care (no microwaved or frozen and fried Sysco junk here). Portions are huge and really affordable, especially for fresh, handmade food. The owners are also lovely humans. It’s well worth the half block detour off the main drag for the best breakfast and lunch on the north coast.

We tried a variety food here and it was all good . I can recommend the Philly cheese steak, breakfast sandwich and burgers. They also have a variety of baked goods. The soups are also very good. Definitely a diamond in the rough.

Found this place on a walk, not searching for food but we had to go in for the good vibes... A "happy accident". The powdered gf brownies were very delicious. We will definitely be back with an appetite. The staff were super kind. My preschooler thought the place was magical.

I am pretty picky about my biscuits and gravy… so even when it sounds good, I don’t order it. Something told me to give it a try, here. Was extremely satisfied!!
Boyfriend had the breakfast Philly sandwich. and devoured it 💛

This mom and pops has the best breakfast all day. Rich, tasty creations with a rock n roll atmosphere to boot. We had the Philly breakfast sandwich, Redneck Benedict, "simple" muffin ... all five stars!!

I came here on Friday, turns out it was there soft opening. The woman behind the counter was absolutely wonderful and the chef was just as nice! It's a great location where you can see the water through a big beautiful window filled with greenery. It's a little bit hidden from street view but it's right along the boardwalk here, cirled in white. The menu has something for everyone and I would recommend it to anyone!

This place is absolutely wonderful!! We discovered the Chalkboard Cafe a few months ago while staying in Seaside and made a point to come back during our visit to Astoria this weekend. Everyone who works here is extremely nice, and the food is incredible!! The Philly cheese steak breakfast sandwich was fantastic and far exceeded my expectations, and the muffins and savory pastries are exceptional. Do yourself a favor and have breakfast or lunch here next time you are in Seaside. You will be so happy you did!!

Super fresh and super friendly. Not only was the food fantastic - and at very reasonable prices - but they offered a bunch of tips for seeing the local area. The buttermilk biscuit is huge and very tasty! Highly recommend for a good breakfast and good conversation.

Food is fantastic! Multiple gluten free options. Our family stopped here multiple times on our seaside trip. Try the quiche, it's fantastic. The Philly is very good also.

The best part of all is how the staff welcomes you like family.
