LOVE this beach, definitely one of my favorites in Connecticut. Free for CT residents, and super close to the highway. We usually go to the west end and it is so beautiful there. The sand is super soft and there’s plenty of space to settle down, there’s barbecue available on the grassy side and the train that comes once in a while is actually quite nice! if you’re having a good time it feels like a scene out of a movie 😌 there’s multiple lifeguards so i feel super safe at all times. crab fishing is very popular on the rockier side of the beach. definitely my go to spot!

Beach got super busy quickly
Plenty of hiking trails
Bring bug spray if hiking mosquitoes get bad the further inland you get.

Another great state park to visit! There’s so many places to explore, their beach is always clean. Lots of space for a picnic in the yards. If your a state park person add this one to your list

We enjoyed our day very much. We paid $15 to get into the park entrance, as we are from out of state. I am guessing free if you live in Ct. Sand was great, water is warmer here, and no waves as beach is tucked in a bit. Life guards on one side of the beach, none on the other side. Has bathroom/changing area. Pavilion with lunch such as burgers, chicken fingers, hotdogs

The park is huge and there are tables in the picnic area. entrance is for free for CT residents only.
The beach is also not so deep, nice for families with kids.

While on the beach today a young boy was missing. The mother alerted the lifeguard and within a couple of minutes 7 lifeguards were in the water. A human chain of volunteers joined the lifeguards hunt for the child. Thank goodness the outcome was good and the child was found safe. Thank you lifeguards for the wonderful job that you do.

Absolutely beautiful beach. The sand is so white and fluffy. It’s always clean. The parking is free for Connecticut residence. They have bathrooms and outdoor showers. There is a noisy train that passes by pretty often but it’s still cool the same time

Awesome beach with free parking for ct residents, and the warmest water in CT by Far, specially on the West side of the beach were the ocean meets the pond entrance is truly really warm in that area and the whole beach is very shallow, really amazing for kids!

Smooth, fine, clean (does not have empty shells at all)sand beach with clear water. Smaller than Hammonasett beach. It’s right by the railroad, so you can hear the loud train pass by occasionally. A noise I can do without. But the views are gorgeous. Check out the photos. There’s a huge, old building with benches on the porch to relax enjoy the ocean breeze or just put your beach towel, mats or chairs on the elevated grassy areas or huge rocks to enjoy the view. There’s still a lot to explore since it’s our first time coming here and we will surely be back.

Awesome experience, even though there was a bunch of people there was space to enjoy your time in the beach. Got there fairly early so I was able to park pretty close as well.

The place was soothing, you can see small islands and some portions of Long Island while looking deep into the sea. The water is very clear. There is a walkway near the rail line on the perimeter of the beach. Really enjoyed the place.
