Emil's Lounge

Emil's is a surprise to some, tucked away on a corner in Rankin, PA. The restaurant at one time had a line waiting outside when U. S. Steel's Carry Furnaces was operating in Rankin. Although the mill has been closed for over 40 years, the legacy of Emil's lives on. Krissy, Emil's daughter, has taken over the business and nothing has diminished. This is a family home cooked restaurant. This is not, I reemphasize this is not a fast food place. The food is outstanding, listen when a restaurant gets rave reviews for its Liver and Onions, you know you're in the right place.
If you like sandwiches, try the Reuben, Rachel, Italian Hoagie or their Fish. How about soups, do you like Wedding Soup, Potato Soup, Vegetable Soup? She has outstanding entres from Amish Fried Chicken to Prime Rib. A caveat is during Lent, get there early, the restaurant is packed from opening to closing. I hope this gives you a little insight into a Pittsburgh restaurant diamond. I drove a taxi in Pittsburgh close to 40 years, which I have dined at restaurants throughout Allegheny County and its surroundings; Emil's is at the top of the list of home cooked meal restaurants.

Searched for nearby restaurants after a day of travel, road tired and hungry. Emil's did not disappoint. Katie was friendly, patient and very helpful. Ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and it was delicious 😋 So glad we stopped and filled our bellies! Plenty of free parking across the street.

Had the opportunity to enjoy a great lunch with six fellow “Youngstowners” recently along with our tour guide “Big Al”. This place did not disappoint!! Huge portions, great service, and friendly atmosphere. Chrissy was a joy to talk to and made us feel so welcome.
Food that reminded us all of our mothers and grandmothers home cooking . Can’t wait to go back….

Who would have thought that this gem was hidden in Rankin? The best Reuben that I have ever had! It was huge! A pound of corned beef. Great flavor. Friendly waitress. The menu looked good but I went there for what was called “The Best Reuben in Pittsburgh” It was. I can’t wait to return!

Best tasting rueben I’ve ever had and ate it for 3 days! Fish sandwich beautiful flaky cod. Quality and taste of food EXCELLENT. They don’t make restaurant food like this anywhere these days. Highly recommend

I grew up in Iowa so I like restaurants that are not pretentious but have good food. That is the basis of Emil's Lounge. You don't find a lot of names you can't pronounce on the menu, and it's made well. The prices were very good.

Excellent, local local local restaurant and bar serving the area for over 70 years. Wide range of menu items including all of the normal staples of french fries, onion rings, etc.

An American local classic with full and complete bar and table service.

The ONE pound Reuben or fish sandwich is a must have served on locally baked Mancini's Italian bread...

Excellent service and very hospitable from the time you walk in and take your own seat when they're not crowded.

Be sure to ask for Tera who provided excellent service and representation of the complete menu and history of Emils.

Excellent experience here. Picked up food and got the Rueben. The Rueben was huge and very tasty. I was only able to eat half! Definitely a hidden gem, recommend taking the time to try it out.

Neighborhood restaurant with a bar and plenty of tables with comfortable chairs. Reuben was delicious and huge $15.50, they offer a half reuben for $9.00 (still large enough to take some home) 😋. Got a slice of tiramisu to go for dessert after one of my tablemates devoured hers stating "It's the best I've ever had!" It was very, very good.🤗 Server and bartender were friendly and professional. Would love to return with friends or family.

The best fish around. I go out of my way when I want fish. Everything has been delicious everytime I visit

Classic and comfy. Best Ruben you'll ever find. Always fast and priced just right. If you're not in the area find a reason to be.

The place has been there for 60 years with minimal updates. But that's what it is. We had fish sandwiches, they were excellent! It's an older place but you can tell the staff cares to do things the right way! Seems like somewhat of a time warp. There is a big parking lot for easy access.

Stopped in for a quick bite during walk around town. So pleased I did! Truly delicious BLT and flavorful potato leek soup. Add in a super friendly staff and you have a winner of a restaurant! Will definitely be back for the Chicken Parm! Stop in for a bite. Like me, you’ll be glad you did.
