I just returned from my July 2023 fishing week at Port Lions Lodge with my son Brian and good friend Larry. This was my second trip to the lodge having gone in 2022 as well. 2023 was better than ever! Fantastic food prepared by the excellent and personable baker and chef, good weather, and our boat captain was wonderful. He worked hard, knew where to go for the different fish, was very friendly and I caught my largest fish ever, a 121 pound halibut! My son and I brought home 200 pounds of filleted, vacuum packed King Salmon, halibut, black bass, lingcod and pacific cod! The Lodge now has Star Link WIFI which is excellent! We couldn’t be happier and I’m going again next year!

Fishing at Port Lions feels like a family affair! We had a fantastic time and brought home plenty of fish. Brett, Marvin, and Tyler were amazing and I know we’ll all be talking about the salmon shark for the next year (or more). Definitely check out the lodge for any of your Alaskan hunting or fishing needs!!!

September 2017 was my 4th trip to Port Lions Lodge. I keep coming back because it such an spectacular place! James is an awesome host. He and Marvin team up as a pair of expert fishing guides. Catching is always good (not just fishing). Friends and family back home always welcome me back with my frozen fillets of AK finest seafood. The ladies at the lodge are gourmet cooks. Don’t be surprised if you have to loosen your belt a notch by the end of week! Come once and you’ll have the itch go back like me!

Fishing with James at Port Lions Lodge is an experience you will never forget. The waters are calm and the fish are plentiful. Halibut, Lingcod, Yellow Eye, Salmon and all sorts of rock fish. Lodge is beautiful and the food is amazing.

We came here based on very satisfactory experience with prior ownership. Our boat captain John was exceptional and the meals were also great.

The owner Brett has a big chip on his shoulder, is arrogant and appears to be antisocial. My wife and I owned and operated a very successful business for many years and I would have loved having this guy as a competitor. As long as he is the owner and there I and the other three gentlemen I was with honestly wouldn’t return to Port Lions Lodge if the trip was free. The bedrooms are very small with no closets to hang clothes and the mattresses and pillows are very cheap and uncomfortable. Everyone was required to sleep on the same sheets for six nights and also to use the same towel and washcloth.

We went here based on a prior experience of friends with the previous owners. This trip was terrible, however.
No internet or cell service but found out that the owners have wifi, they just werent willing to share the password with the guests.
The cook was borderline hostile to us.
Found out at the last minute that the lodge couldnt get us to the airport for 7:00AM flight. The owners suggestion was to change our flights or to stay overnight in Kodiac although we had paid for the night at the lodge ( and food). It cost us (8 people) an extra $500 each for different overnight accommodations. Overall, an awful week & we will never go back to this lodge. My suggestion is if you, Brett, actually dont like people or are antisocial, dont run go into the hospitality industry. Loved Parker & Marvin, who were wonderful and busted their butts for us.
