The Athens Rooster

Yummy & Friendly. I attended the Greene County Chamber breakfast this morning at The Athens Rooster. It was my first visit. The food was delicious, the service/hospitality fabulous and I was genuinely impressed by how clean and fresh the place both looked and felt.The aesthetics of the Rooster coupled with the great food and service are an tremendous combo.

Lovely little place for good lattes and breakfast items. Small indoors but nice tables outside (some in front of defunct restaurant across the street). Love that there were vegan options :)

Made a detour on my way to NYC from Albany, to get some lunch.. love the place, and people that run it.. food was great l, keep it up.. The only thing I would change is the use of throwaway containers for food. I would have loved real bowl for that bean soup.

Great coffee and pastries, also a big fan of their breakfast burrito. Super good and a solid price. The regular crowd there talks so, so, so loud though. Not a knock against the establishment at all, but the handful of times I've been there a gaggle of regulars are practically yelling.

Owner snapped out a table outside for us so we could eat there. So nice! The food was amazing as expected. The sausage and pimento burrito delivered and the brunch pizza is exactly as good as it sounds. Perfectly prepared, crispy cheesy crust. Turmeric latte also quite yummy.

Wonderful place. The bacon, egg & cheese wrap is 10/10 and the coffee and fresh baked sweets are top notch. Highly recommend!

The Athens Rooster is the true gem of Athens, NY. It’s such a cute place to grab breakfast. It seems like a lot of locals love to eat here. The prices are amazing- this coming from someone who brunches in NYC. It’s street parking but Athens doesn’t have a lot of traffic so it’s easy to find a spot.

Whoever makes the pizzas s a culinary genius. Super friendly staff, well crafted beverages , and the pizza tho. I miss the city- this makes me miss it a bit less.

A local who always receives great service and coffee!! I recommend all my guests there.

Absolutely charming shop right here in the village. Baked goods galore, soup, sandwiches, salads, pizza, frozen prepared foods to go for easy heating when you get home, they have a little bit of everything. There is a petite section with shelves filled with local goodies, some edibles items and other kitchen-y things. Reba, Eric and Melissa are there all of time and ALWAYS sweet, genuine, caring people! There are huge windows with tons of natural light if you're a reader. Currently their tree is up and the place looks quite festive. I look forward to my mornings there, always makes for a good start to my day

What can I say about The Athens Rooster. I moved to Athens back in September not knowing anyone or anything about this town. The Rooster was one of the first places I tried.

I don’t know what it is about The Rooster.

It could be the food. The freshly made pizza (The Greene County specifically is delicious), The southwest breakfast burrito (when I can manage to get up early enough), or the always refreshing iced mochas.

It could be the service. The staff is some of the most positive, effective, genuine group of people you’ll ever meet. Serving the town consistently and taking pride in their work, as well as their food. No matter how busy they are, The Rooster seems to always treat you like you’re their favorite customer.

The Rooster is more than a café to get coffee and pastry(I recommend the lemon poppyseed cake). The Rooster truly feels like home. I’ll always cherish all the friends and memories I’ve made here. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Great place to have a bite. I had the cuban sandwich, the pork was delicious. I stole a slice of pizza from my wife (ok, she let me) and loved the thin crust, so tasty. The owners and staff are friendly to everyone. It was obvious that they had a lot of regulars who they chatted with.

I love it here! Freshly made baked goods, hearty sandwiches, and delicious coffee at reasonable prices. The entire staff is incredibly nice and truly care about making people feel welcome.

Super friendly staff, tasty food! Stopped by for some Janes Ice Cream that they carry in pints, and had lunch too. Great sandwiches and a very yummy cookie!.

The cutest cafe in the Hudson Valley. We came for breakfast and had the tastiest breakfast burritos, oatmeal and avocado toast. And their baked goods are out of this world (the espresso muffin is amazing!). Great coffee, too! Can’t wait to come back for another meal!

We found this place purely by accident. It was lunchtime, and this small inviting restaurant appeared before us! We had the Sausage & Kale panini (the winner!), and the mushroom and wild rice soup (which was very tasty but could have used a dash of black pepper). The staff were all really nice, and mask compliance was 100%. We took the order to the waterfront park for a perfect picnic.

I am so happy this place opened in Athens. My fave are breakfast burrito, whitefish salad toast and avocado toast. I can’t wait to try lunches. Highly recommend this gem and service is exceptional. Thank you! Wishing lots of success and happy customers.
Edit: I wanted to share how amazing and delicious Hanukkah dinner to order was: braised brisket was so tender, flavorful and melts in the mouth; latkes was a pure delight, so light and Delicious, fennel salad was so fresh and so crisp; rugelach was out of this world, so beautifully made. This is a Superior quality meal to have. I can’t stress enough how talented these chefs are and so appreciative of their dedication to provide great feast and everyday meals to go. Thank you!

So happy to have a shop open on Mondays to go to. Amazing lunch. Great cuban sandwich and awesome pizzas. We'll be back!
