Bluebird Cafe Solon

I loved having a great salad with chicken for lunch one day so we came back the next morning for breakfast. A great find while visiting family in CR and staying at the Literary Hotel. The waitress is so friendly and attentive. The food is delicious. Very clean restaurant and comfortable. A great place to meet for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Sister restaurant of the North Liberty establishment. Just happened upon this place in the small town of Solon. Stopped in for lunch. Quick service. New place. Everything was very clean. Clean restrooms. Special for the noon meal was spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread. Good presentation. The food was delicious but not special. Meatballs were great. Spaghetti was something I could make at home.
Garlic bread was good.
Server was attentive and polite.
Spent $18.70 for the noon special and a Coke.
It's a nice place to eat.
Recommend.

This is a great restaurant with vintage furniture and nice decoration. Food is very good and service is excellent. The meatloaf was awesome, meaty, lean and with little bits of red peppers. Coleslaw and mashed potatoes was very good. I’ll be back!

They have super friendly and attentive services, from our host to your service. Our server Michael was above and beyond in his service.
Our host/ or manager was really thorough and hospitable.
They brought me a wrong omelette which I didn’t realize and started enjoying it. Then the host/or manager came over to apologize and had it replaced in no time.

Our omelettes were really yummy and well displayed. Kids got waffles and bacons with orange juice and they totally loved them all.

Adore this restaurant!! My family and I come here very often. The waiters are very kind and friendly and the food is great. Have never had to wait long for a seat or my orders. 10/10 recommend!

Due to health challenges and age (mom is almost 88) it had been a long time since the two of us had ventured out. Wishing to avoid crowds we decided to get out of the Iowa City orbit and made our way to Blue Bird Diner in Solon at around 3 pm. It did not disappoint! I asked if it was possible to get a cup of simple veg broth in addition to the entrée and Anna, our kind server, said: I feel sure our chef can come up with something! Not only did Chef Simone come up with something, it was a perfectly balanced veggie broth presented beautifully. You can definitely feel when things are done with the heart versus just for a paycheck. The food at Blue Bird was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented (mom had a BLT and I had veg fettuccini, and we shared strawberry crumble for dessert). In addition to her obvious culinary expertise, we could feel the love and care that Chef Simone put into it. Solon is lucky to have this hidden jewel. For sure we will be back when possible. We both left uplifted and nourished, body and soul. Thank you all at Blue Bird Solon!

Great place to eat. Friendly staff. We ate breakfast this morning, and had a small issue. The manager came right over to see what she could do to make it right. I highly recommend this restaurant if your ever in Solon they have something for everyone.

Bluebird Cafe in Solon has a good selection of traditional foods with options for vegetarians. The atmosphere is nice with what seems like a recently remodeled dining and seating area. Staff are courteous, attentive, and patient. I had an omelette with veggies and it was quite good. Solon is close to Iowa City, and also a good stop for those on their way to visit Lake Macbride.

Fabulous Sushi! We are from St Louis, and have lived here, for over twenty years. We are so happy to find a place with great sushi!

I was in a party of four, and we each ordered a different breakfast. No one was disappointed. I can't resist corned beef hash, and I would rate their hash among the very best I've ever eaten.

Great food and atmosphere with friendly staff. A bit more generosity with the omelet ingredients would be perfection! Plus they offer a gluten free pancake.

Quaint cafe in Solon, apparently one of 3 in the area - other two being in neighboring Iowa City and North Liberty.

Our server was pleasant and helpful with suggestions.

The atmosphere was quiet (we came in about 45 mins before closing) and calm allowing us to chat without having to yell. The decor was modern and pleasant but simple.

Our food was very good. My wife and 14 yr old had breakfast for dinner and ordered the cinnamon roll french toast. I had the fish and chips, not being a big breakfast fan and my 10 yr old had the prime rib french dip. I think he wished he had gotten the cinnamon roll french toast too - his eyes bugged out when they arrived and he ate about a third of my wife's. He also liked the French dip but was obviously envious of the French toast. My fish and chips were also good but the batter was a bit thick which took away from the well cooked cod inside. That being said, I still liked it a lot and their tartar sauce appeared homemade with little pickles that added a lot of flavor to the dip.

This would be a favourite of ours if we lived in the area. Give it a try if you are ever travelling through the area. You'll get warm great service and satisfying comfort food here.

Everything was fantastic their house made Hollandaise sauce should be sold by the glass. Don't forget to ask for extra so you can dip your fries. Everything was incredibly clean. Full bar reasonable prices Actually made by an excellent cook. My new favorite place on earth. I wish we had taken pictures but we ate it too fast and practically locked the plates. Super bright and friendly staff HOUSE BREWED ICE TEA. Seriously, full experience, wonderful attention to detail

Our waitress was terrific- friendly and attentive. Breakfast for lunch was ideal - 2 thumbs up!

Stopped in for breakfast last Sunday and had a great experience! The front desk manager at The Literary sent us over and we could not have been more pleased! Our waitress was wonderful and gave us some great suggestions, our food was hot and delicious, and the mimosa flight was a fun treat! We’ll be back!

Always love eating at either Bluebird locations. Waffles are really great.
