Love this place! Great for a meet up with friends or family. Big menu so there’s something for everyone. And the bakery items and coffee are AMAZING! Really can’t go wrong here.

Always a wonderful experience here. Came for lunch, had the fish fry and was blown away. Probably my favorite fish fry anywhere. Fish was perfect, batter was light and crispy. Same goes for the shrimp and fish combo. The pre lunch bloody was top notch. Just the right balance of everything. Service was outstanding. If you've never been here before, the place is like a rabbit warren, but the staff are always friendly and attentive and will find you wherever you end up! Would be rude not to take some of their signature desserts home with you if you don't have room to eat any while you're there. They taste as good as they look. It's not the cheapest lunch experience you'll find, but the extra cost is reflected in the extra quality of everything here. Parking can be a bit dicey at peak times and it's a little out of the way, but this place is 100% worth the visit.

Tracy and Lauren were amazing to work with when we had to get our desserts for our wedding, including our cake! All of the desserts were a hit at our wedding and the cake was to die for! We think the cream puffs were better than the ones at state fair. We had a tasting and Lauren was able to explain everything regarding each individual dessert. It was hard to pick just 6 desserts in the package that we picked. Lauren did such a wonderful job helping us design the cake, and was able to help explain all the different intricacies into designing it. They also did a great job dropping off the cake and desserts within the timeline so the guests did not see the cake before the reception. We were more than happy with how everything turned out, and cannot recommend the Gingerbread House enough!

We are from out of town & went on the recommendation of our hosts. Wowsa!
Charming factor 100%
Food taste & presentation 100%
Friendliness of staff 100%
Length of wait for a table less than 10 minutes

We had the eggs Benedict & scrambled eggs with a hard roll…both were delicious & food arrived fast. Very fresh & hot. The only thing I didn’t love is my ‘hard roll’ was a soft brioche grilled bun. I’ve had excellent hard rolls & was expecting that, since it is a bakery also, but none the less, the brioche roll was also good.

Sadly we didn’t make it to try any of their sweet treats…next time!

This restaurant is my favorite place to take friends for breakfast or lunch! Such a cute cozy indoor dining area and a beautiful outdoor patio. There’s even an adorable and friendly rooster roaming around outside, which gives it a great farmhouse feel.

Every time I visit I am greeted and welcomed. The services is exceptional and the food is delicious. Highly recommend the bloody mary and the burgers!

Only disappointed that they no longer provide free complimentary ice water with your meal. You have to buy bottled water, which kind of takes away from the cozy farmhouse vibe.

My husband found this gem while delivering material for his job.
When he told me about this place, I was skeptical and did not want to go, originally, but I'm so glad I did! Now I can't get enough of The Gingerbread House! Unfortunately, it's almost an hour away from us, so we can only go occasionally, which makes it all the more special. Please check it out!

For years I have driven by this charming restaurant vowing to try it. Concerned that the decor may surpass the service and the food I delayed doing do. Boy was I wrong. My wife and I finally did go and have breakfast and left amazed. I rarely say that about a restaurant. We will be going back soon.

The decor is exquisite. You can sit outside on the porch on a warm summer's day and enjoy a leisurely breakfast with a fresh glass of cool orange juice. If you do, do not be surprised if you see one of their chickens from their chicken coop stroll by. You can choose to sit inside and enjoy a hot cup of coffee and enjoy their delicious food and wonder at the amazing decor.

I had the traditional Eggs Benedict and my wife the Farmer's Omlette. The eggs benedict had delicious ham and the hollandaise sauce had something in it I can't identify, but I now crave. My wife's omlette had three eggs, bacon, ham, tomato, onion, mushroom, green pepper and cheddar cheese. Both dishes were served with crispy seasoned wedge fries that were amazingly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Everything was simply outstanding! A strong recommend for those with the time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. You will leave not just full, but inspired.

This was my first visit. This place doesn't disappoint. I came for the Fish Fry and left with a lovely berry dessert and a frozen banana mocha iced drink. Everything was tasty, large portions, food arrived hot, and the waitress was super attentive. I love the whole farmhouse vibe, and decor was filled with cool antiques, and seating was inside and outside! The menu has variety (sandwiches, Fish Fry, and fresh made pizzas)! They have a small bakery inside the restaurant and a coffee bar, and even a boutique on the 2nd floor. I will be back for sure!

Cute place to get food. Drinks, service and food are amazing. Love the baked goods. Croissants are made with European butter (its a must for Croissants). I stop in at least once a week just for a chocolate croissant and they are big boys. Once you experience the food and service it'll be a must visit when you're in the area.

I don't know how this place flew under my radar for years. I've passed the cute farm house hundreds of times, but never stopped for lunch or at their bakery.

What a mistake that was. I cannot believe what a find this adorable place is. This is the type of place Wauwatosa has in spades, but we seem to be missing, to some degree, further out in suburbia.

This place gets everything right. At the point, when a live chicken came up to our covered front porch table to say "hi", I blurted out to my dining mates that I wanted to live here!

Food excellent!
Prices - reasonable for what is offered
Service- pleasant and attentive
Atmosphere- off the charts adorable!
Baked good - they deserve a review of their own...

Having lived and travelled what seems like everywhere, I believe this small place has the most beautiful display of baked goods I have ever seen. Famous chef's would be put to shame by this unabashed display of baking prowess. This chef is clearly an artist, most obviously demonstrated by stunning mirror glazed cakes.

Everything is so beautifully and professionally executed and, of course, enormous- as is currently on trend. If you're lucky enough to live in this area, or are traveling through, you do not want to miss an opportunity to stop in here. You will not be disappointed!

Recommend definitely going during the summer for the outside seating. I love that the chickens come around.

Food portions are huge for the price but so so worth it. Especially if you like flavored coffee drinks. I had the frozen zebra and it was so good. The breakfast burrito was to die for.

Do be prepared to wait 20 minutes as this place is pretty busy but worth the wait

This place is amazing! I wanted to try a new breakfast place, and am so glad this was where I chose. I had their hot chocolate to drink (made with Ghirardelli chocolate), and the Gingerbread House Eggs Benedict. It was absolutely phenomenal. The ham was slightly sweet to balance the savory and topped with perfectly poached eggs. I will definitely be going back.
**Editing to add photos and mention that we are now regulars at The Gingerbread House. I've had quite a few of their weekend special (which changes weekly); the 2 pictured are the croque madame and their chicken and waffles. Everything here is fresh and locally sourced. Please check this place out. The food and atmosphere are incredible, and staff are very friendly.

Adorable little spot! We came for breakfast/brunch and it was great. I got the garden benedict and definitely reccomend it! I suggest trying to get here early for parking and the wait times may get long later in the day. My group was there around 9 on a Sunday and only had a short wait, it was great. Wait staff and hostess were awesome and helpful. I will definitely be returning.

What a cute place! Worth checking out for sure. The entire ambiance is adorable. Bakery items made in house. Prices are high but everything was delicious. Boutique and bar upstairs. Not much seating inside so call ahead on weekends. They used to only do full breakfast on weekends but now they do weekdays too. Clean. Fast and friendly! Shout out to Mariah, our server!

What a GEM!! Fabulous breakfast, in the cutest setting possible, with wonderful people working! Steak & eggs were perfectly cooked. The breakfast potatoes may be the best jo-jos I have ever eaten! The grilled italian bread is baked fresh, and buttery. The bakery items are professional quality. There were cute seasonal decor items & candles for sale in the boutique. Add'l seating on the 2nd floor. As good as the food is, it's a popular place - but WORTH WAITING FOR! Stop in for the bakery items alone!!

The quaint farmhouse exterior belies the bustling bakery and restaurant within. The patio entrance has a southern exposure sure to provide sun year round. Once inside, you will be greeted by the staff and the hundreds of country-inspired decorations adorning the walls, halls, floors, and corners. Their menu is brief, and even moreso on the week days. The hot breakfast favorites are only available on Saturday and Sunday. The staff is friendly, if a little less attentive, especially when they are near capacity. They fill up fast on the weekends, so plan your visit accordingly. And, do not be discouraged if people are already parking on the street, you may still get a seat.
