Chop House Bistro

My husband and I had reservations for dinner. We were immediately seated. We got our drinks and food ordered quickly. The server was very knowledgeable and friendly. I loved the atmosphere. They did really well with the use of space in converting an old house into a restaurant. Some of the flavors were different than what we’re used to, but it was all really good. We would definitely eat here again!

This is a great place to stop, eat, and enjoy your time in Luray. Hostest was kind and attentive. She went out of her way to communicate wait time, make sure tables looked nice, and refilled our waters as the lunch went on, making sure to stop and chat with us too! Food was good. We ordered the jerk chicken wings ($9), the Chop House Burger with duck fat fries and peach ketchup ($17), and the Crispy Tofu Sandwich with a Chop House side salad ($14). The jerk seasoning was very good, sweet and spicy at the same time. The Chop House Burger was very fresh, the steak could have had more seasoning. The duck fat fries were delicious but the peach ketchup was interesting. My wife liked her tofu sandwich, and especially liked the sauce on it. She said the Chop House Salad was the "best salad she ever had". Overall everything was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was amazing. The restaurant is converted from what seems to be a colonial style house so it was so very cozy and welcoming!

Stopped by for dinner and ended up with one of the best dinning experiences I have experienced in years! I ordered the tofu sandwich, an amazing combination of flavors that was so balanced between the spice and sweet, and a side of the Mac and cheese which is a must try. And finished the meal with the homemade cinnamon roll ice cream, which was heavy on the cinnamon but in a light and refreshing way that left my very satisfied, especially after the heavier meal.

My friend got the pork belly appetizer which was so good, even though it is a fatty cut of meat it was perfectly tender and just melted in your mouth. For their main course they got one of the burgers with the fries and peach ketchup, they said it is going down in their Top 5 burgers of all time. (As someone who has traveled much of the east coast trying different burgers that is a big compliment coming from him) He finished his meal with blackberry cheesecake and again left us with no words other than just “wow”.

It has been a long time since I have had a meal that has such a perfect blend of flavors that each bite makes you excited to take the next. I feel like the balance they accomplished in a way where the flavors complement each other, rather than combining into one another, each expressing their own contribution to the dish was very impressive.

On top of that the natural lighting and layout made for a wonderful ambiance. And the service was absolutely phenomenal!!

Worth making reservations. Great staff and delicious dinners cooked perfectly. Love the horseradish sauce. The hummus is always amazing.

We sat at the bar after a drizzly day at the Luray Caverns and a stop at Bank Street Books down the street. It seems like a popular spot because all the tables were reserved. The bartender was friendly and served our drinks with a flourish. We got the hummus plate (sans yogurt), the crispy tofu sandwich (sans mayo), and the crispy tofu steak. The hummus was a real stand out! I do wish that the menu was labeled to indicate what was vegetarian or could be made vegetarian but overall we were very happy with our meal!

Our Airbnb host recommend The Chop House so my husband and I gave it a whirl while in town for our anniversary. So glad we did! We snagged a spot at the bar with Jade since reservations were booked 2 weeks out. Jade was super attentive, friendly and exuded grace under pressure. There’s a full bar, wine, and beer selection. All the other couples who sat down (8 seats total) were super friendly. We both ordered the sirloin special - best steak each of us ever had. I ordered the strawberry, blueberry and rhubarb crumble a la mode for dessert…quite possibly the best crumble I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to return! Dinner not pictured because we dug in too fast.

I randomly picked Luray, VA to spend my birthday by myself. I wanted a place that was peaceful and decided on Luray, thanks to finding a great B&B. Anyway, I googled “Dinner near Me” from where I was staying and came across several places. I had decided on one but drove a bit further to explore Main St when I came across Chop House Bistro. It was a unique building(home) for a restaurant so I wanted to check out its uniqueness. From the entrance to the exit I was impressed with service, food and all attention to detail. Bartender Jade made my experience absolutely exceptional. From the phenomenal drink he fixed to the food suggestions, I was so pleased. I hear the restaurant is pretty new. Seems like if there were any kinks, they were quickly worked out because Chop House excelled in every aspect. Thanks for adding to my Luray visit. I can’t wait to return for another dinner and getaway.
Oh, I ate Brussels sprouts as an appetizer, the fried catfish and Mac and cheese were to DIE for for dinner and the ice cream, made in house, was spectacular.

Came for dinner while on a getaway weekend. Solid dinner. Everything was delicious. We shared the cajun-crusted fried oysters to start, which had a nice crust and had a great flavor. I had the pork tenderloin which was well seasoned and juicy and my husband had the ribeye which was great. The carrot cake and apple crisp were the best desserts to finish our meal with.

Our waitress, Kristen, was friendly and service overall was excellent. Ambiance was warm and airy. Highly recommend!

We visited the Chop House Bistro located in Luray, Virginia, a couple of nights ago for the first time. I say for the first time because I will definitely be returning. The food and staff were so excellent.

I combined two entrees into one with the 6 oz filet mignon combined with the pan seared scallops. This restaurant pairs the main entrees with a housemaid selection of delicious sauces on the side. I had the house steak sauce on the side with the filet mignon and a chive and cheddar tasting sauce paired with the scallops. For the sides, I had absolutely delicious duck fat fried french fries paired with a housemaid Peach ketchup that I swear you have to try.

Considering that I paired two entrees and also paid for a friends salmon and rice bowl, the pricing of this restaurant is absolutely where it should be for this quality of food.

The atmosphere was nice in the restaurant itself. However, there were some rough local elements in there that night that weren't as friendly. The staff at this restaurant is absolutely delightful and it was overall a great experience. We will absolutely return to dine at this fantastic establishment.

Beautiful decor in a charming space. Excellent service by Sam. Good menu variety. Had perfectly prepared scallops and asparagus. Well worth a future visit if I'm in Luray.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The drinks were crafted to perfection, with a great selection of cocktails. The food was an absolute delight. Everything was bursting with flavor, and the presentation was on point. We were thoroughly impressed, we even went back again the same day! The attention to detail in the preparation and the quality of ingredients really shone through. Don’t skip past the Money sauce! All in all, this restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. It's the kind of place where you can savor a wonderful meal, enjoy great company, and leave with a smile on your face. We can't wait to return and explore more of their menu.

Jade was fantastic behind the bar. Mixing drinks, conversation, this fellow has heart and soul. Foods delicious,and our server Brielle was patient and accommodating. Wishing your visit is as memorable as ours!

We were celebrating the wife's birthday in Luray yesterday, she was hungry and in between Lunch and Dinner time (3pm), so the tables were being reset. We do not usually eat at the bar (maybe twice) but Jade made this an excellent experience. The drinks were great and the wings and burgers were excellent! But what made this trip special was Jade, what an interesting and delightful bar tender. I am thankful to Jade for turning this off chance dining experience extra special for the wife. We will be back again and maybe get a table but the bar would be fine too!

Food and staff were awesome! Stumbled across it in town looking for a place for my partner and I to have dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Look forward to visiting again while in the area or at the other location in Harrisonburg.

We used to frequent the former restaurant in this location and were anxious to see how this would stack up. They have decorated nicely but more low key and subdued. We were greeted promptly and shown to our table right away. Server was personable though seemed to still be learning but checked on us frequently and answered our questions. Food was presented nicely. We enjoyed the burgers, sirloin and pork loin for dinner. Each of us agreed it was prepared perfectly and taste met our expectations. We will be going back and look forward to trying other things from their menu.

We sat at the bar and had great service. The place was packed and booked up with reservations, so we were lucky to snag a seat at the bar. I usually don’t write reviews, but I had to come on here to say I had the best scallops and mashed potatoes ever here. I would definitely recommend. Be sure to make a reservation!!!

Delicious lunch and excellent service! The bistro burger was cooked just right! The meat was so fresh, couldn't help ordering rare! Will definitely go there again!

My wife and I seem to stumble upon these little places while on vacation often. We walked up, picked a table outside, and took in the surroundings. Our waiter John was outstanding. We both got the Steak Burger with Duck Fat fries, and it was outstanding. Our service was awesome, the atmosphere is perfect, and the surrounding views of the area are gorgeous. My wife and I both very much enjoyed our lunches. From someone who is a non-local, 10/10 would recommend!

Fresh, quality ingredients!
I ordered a rice bowl that came with pickled veggies, beans, lots of jalapeños and cilantro sauce.
Burger that my husband ordered was pretty good. Only issue we had was that an adult cannot order steak at lunch. We realized the kids menu offered the only steak dish so we had our daughter order it as well and it was great. The kids mac & cheese should be on the adult menu because it was homemade and delicious!
The Jamaican wings were ok but not the best.
We ordered 3 different desserts and they were all homemade… highly recommend!

Great pick! We stopped for lunch on the way from Richmond, VA to PA and loved it! The restaurant was clean, the staff very friendly and the food was phenomenal! Definitely on my list to visit again!

We both ordered the Chop House burger with fries. The burgers were perfectly balanced and cooked to our order. The fries were delicious and very crispy. They were served with homemade peach ketchup. SCRUMPTIOUS!!!
