Our office got take out here for the first time and everything was excellent. I got the Nashville chicken sandwich and it was good… the Mac n cheese was amazing!! I’d probably get a side of some kind of sauce next time since I like my sandwiches saucy. The others got the French dip with cheddar instead of Swiss and the chicken salad sandwich.

Was my first time, definitely not my last time. New favorite.

The Whistle Stop is such an awesome little restaurant, the atmosphere, old time memorabilia, & railroad decor are so cute.

The Staff was so friendly, the food is excellent, but the save room for the best to come, the milkshakes are out of this world.

Absolutely amazing place. Food was PHENOMENAL!!! Got the grilled cheese and was in heaven. The shake was superb as well. Definitely going to have to attempt to make the grilled cheese at home, until I visit Tennessee again…it’s THAT good.

The service is great, every body is very friendly. Place is decorated very cutely.

We wanted to find somewhere to stop for lunch on a drive from Bryson City to Nashville. This wasn't too far of a diversion, and the reviews looked great. We made the right decision!
We didn't make a reservation. Despite it being busy, we were given a table on the second floor.
We ordered a Meatloaf Sandwich and a Nashville Chicken Sandwich with a cup of Tomato Bisque for mains. All of the food was delicious.
We also ordered a chocolate milkshake - OMG - fantastic!
Service was excellent. Prices were competitive.
We definitely made the correct choice.
Highly recommended!

Great experience, great atmosphere, great food! Lunch was good and ice cream treats excellent! We had a reservation on a Saturday at 1:30 and got right in. Beware to let them know if you cannot climb stairs so they can seat you on the first floor. The upper 2 levels require quite a few stairs. Managers were very accommodating and kept wait and cook staff hopping. Servers were kind. They missed a couple details but all was good. Our dessert order was messed up but corrected quickly and delicious!

Ooltewah Whistle Stop is a fun, friendly stop for sweet treats! We all had their famous milkshakes & warm pretzels and they were all 🤌 fantastic! We didn't realize they had food so we will definitely stop in again soon for a meal. They have a lot of cool historic photos and memorabilia to check out & a fun lil rooftop deck to enjoy as well. Will definitely be back!

Went on a Sunday before the church crowd. It was delicious! We got the meatloaf sandwich and the grilled cheese with added turkey and both loved it. The salt and vinegar chips were amazing. Thought it was a pretty decent price as well. Our server was nice and very helpful. It was quite small on the inside so if you have sensory issues it could be loud had there been more people there, but we had a great meal and a great time! We had alternate plans for dessert so we didn’t get a milkshake, but we will definitely come back again when we can!

My husband and I stopped here to split a milkshake after dinner, and it was wonderful. We ordered the "Don't Be Cruel" Chocolate milkshake. The location itself is super cool, and there were two trains that passed by while we were there. Definitely will go back to try their regular menu, and split another shake.

Absolutely love the place! Amazing decorations, love the picture wall on the top floor for pictures. We went at five and saw the train pass by it was so fun. The sandwiches there are great, gluten and dairy free options, and the milkshakes are incredible!! Totally worth it!

Attention to every detail is why I love Ootewalh Whistle Stop. Excellent food, service, and decorations. Moderate pricing. Free on-site parking, outdoor seating available.

If you’re wondering at the prices, it’s because every dessert item comes with half a candy and pastry shop as a garnish. You DO get what you pay for, and I’m pretty sure they’re adding something addictive to the ice cream here. Never had a simple vanilla milkshake that was this good. I experienced a moment of loss when it was empty. Also: call in your order ahead of time if you’re bringing a group for a reservation (especially a kid’s party). They will love you for it, and they deserve it.

An absolute masterpiece of an experience.

George was a perfect server. Knowledgeable, quick, and charming.

The food was delicious, well-made, and came out absolutely perfect.

Cannot recommend this place enough.

Visited on a cold and wet winters night and they were not busy at all. My wife and I really enjoyed the decorating and unique history on the walls. We also liked that the staff mentioned we are free to wander around and walk up to the roof patio. The atmosphere was quite loud due to a group on the second floor. I'm sure this is better when the windows are open. We thought the food was good. Our cocktails came out late due to short staff but they were tasty. Honestly, alcohol being on the menu at a spot that seems more focused on really over the top shakes seems rather unusual. We ended up just having our cocktails as our dessert. We would most likely visit again when its warm out.

This is such a super cool place. We had reserved a party for upstairs and it was so wonderful. We had our own space and the sweetest lady taking care of us. They are most definitely on top of their stuff and served our big group very quickly. We had a variety of things, turkey & Swiss, pimento cheese, chicken salad, pretzels, hotdogs for the kiddos and of course MILKSHAKES!! Everyone loved it especially the kids.

One of our favorite places! Great old school diner vibe and music. Sandwiches are top notch and you absolutely have to try their amazing milkshakes truly one of a kind. If you're lucky you'll get to see Cassie and Dana they are always super sweet and give the best service. Check them out!

Great little place. Very tasty lunch offerings - meatloaf sandwich, chili dog, Nashville hot chicken. Great milkshakes (better than the food 😉). Would have given 5 stars, but all the food had an overall sweetness to it, including the pickles. Add milkshakes on top of that and it would have been nice to get some contrast and relief (dill pickles as an available option, for example). Still, highly recommended.

Such a wonderful family dining experience! The food and milkshakes are always picture perfect. The atmosphere is amazing, every bit of the restaurant is well thought out and the attention to detail is obviously. Great place to take photos!

I saw friends posting photos of the tallest and most amazing milkshakes and looked up where they were from. The restaurant is in a historic building right by the tracks where the Chattanooga Choo Choo came through (my guess on that) and they have 2 beautiful, historic and clean dining levels. The top level is rooftop. We came around 11:30 and downstairs was full with reservations for the two larger tables upstairs. We dined by the windows and noticed that the side window would scroll open on nice days. There are a few parking spots in front, and a few more paved spaces to the left of the building. There is a large gravel lot to the right. The downstairs bathrooms are by the staircase, and also on 2nd floor. Very clean and decorated well. Our table attendant was Christine, and she did a great job. There was a large party seated by us and she had to do a lot of running up and down the stairs, but did so with a smile. The milkshakes and also the alcoholic drinks look so pretty, but I try not to eat too many calories and don’t drink, so I didn’t try those. We ordered the Reuben and the Nashville hot Chicken sandwich. My husband loved the marbled rye bread and also his side of potato salad, which he said had “a little kick.” I had the tasty homemade pickles, macaroni and cheese, and a soft toasted bun on my Hot Chicken Sandwich. I got the kettle chips, which I thought would be made in house, but it was a bagged chips. We also ordered the fried green tomatoes with Smokey pimento cheese and pickles and a sauce like Thousand Island Dressing. Our food came quickly and was hot and tasty. We also got nice large thick napkins in addition to the napkins in which our silverware was rolled. We also had a soup spoon and straw in the silverware roll. I took photos of the exterior and interior, as well as menus and our meals. The historic photos and items on the walls leading up the staircase were tasteful, historic and informative. I did not climb up to the rooftop level, but there is a view of the countryside and TN hills along with a historic feel of being “back in time” at a diner by the tracks. The music was also enjoyable. It was selections from the “train era.” Big Band (In the Mood) Rat Pack, Doris Day, and some early rock & Roll “Salish Splash” & Elvis. I recommend a reservation at any time of day. This is a popular place, but the booths and bar top downstairs and tables on upper floors are spaced nicely apart so it doesn’t feel crowded. There was also a nice little waiting area downstairs by the staircase and restrooms. See photos.

This was our first time here and we will be back OFTEN!!! The girls that were working were so happy and you could tell they really worked as a team. The food was AMAZING! But the reason we came was for the milkshakes. And we were NOT disappointed! They were HUGE and fancy and DELICIOUS!!! The only hard part was figuring out which amazing sandwich and milkshake to get!!
