Chiswell Farm & Winery

This winery was beautiful! The staff was so helpful with our group. Sitting outside with the breeze was amazing. We had some tastings, glasses of wine and even grabbed a bottle for home. The property and building are so lovely!

I am sure many people are not aware of this magnificent winery close to the Nelson 151 corridor. According to the owners, before COVID hit, they were turning the picturesque property into a bed and breakfast. It turns out that since they provide several wineries in the area with grapes, they ended up with a surplus as a result of the low demand as wineries were closed or partially open.
They ended up making their own wine and the property was turned into a massive historic tasting room. At this time, you are free to actually drink your wine in any of the multiple rooms and areas throughout the 3-story house full of reminiscing art and decor. There are also multiple sitting areas all around the property were you can freely set up camp. The ambiance is extremely laidback, so if your are not into peaceful nature contact environments, this place may not be for you. The house boasts with understated elegance. The tasting room is small but the wines are quite delicious. Best Sauvignon Blanc I have had in a while. They also serve food on site. The downside is that pets are not allowed, nor kids for that matter. Spectacular views of the plantation paired very well with good wine and food.
Plenty of parking. There are bit of a walk to access the tasting room, but you will enjoy that walk underneath the trees shade. We were informed there is live music on Fridays in the evening.
I feel this winery is super underrated as it is outside of the popular beer/wine 151 corridor. But very worth the visit.

One of the best kept secrets of Charlottesville area vineyards! Don’t miss this sparkling gem of a wonderland winery. From private well furnished rooms to beautifully stunning vistas outside, there is no shortage of places to enjoy some of the finest wine around.

Amazing views, cute cottage, and delicious wine. It's almost the summer and I am still dreaming of the cider-mosas from the fall with the sparkling chardonnay. Can't wait to go back

Probably the best cheese board I've ever had with lovely fresh fruit (as should be expected of a farm winery). The live music on Friday was great and the service as always is lovely! The petit mensang is 10/10 and the estate as a whole makes for an escape from the city. Totally recommend all of the whites to anyone looking for a place to start on the menu!

Amazing winery, a hidden gem that has only been open for 5 months. If you do not visit here, you are missing out. Lived in crozet for over 3 years, this is the most beautiful winery in the area. The scenery and grounds are gorgeous. The wines are delicious and reasonable priced.

Really enjoyed a quiet afternoon at Chiswell. The Farm house provides a unique experience along the 151/west-of-Charlottesville wine trail. Wines were tasty and the views very peaceful. Gracious hosts and friendly service. Keep in mind that they close at 5p and are NOT pet friendly.

Bottle a couple of their wines from their Apple farm in Carter Mountain. And I can’t wait to visit their winery. This Sweet Albermarle Petit Manseng is amazing!! Wow this is good! Great Job on the wine. Haven’t tried the Rose yet, saving that one for Thanksgiving. But wow this is really good!

We were impressed by both the quality of wine for a new winery and for the ambiance and service. Their choice to allow guests to explore the entire house is very appreciated, since it is nicely decorated and provided a great change of pace to get to do some exploring after enjoying our drinks outside. The views are marvelous, and the rocking chairs made it feel more laid back. As for the negative reviews: nearly all wineries close around five so it’s best to visit in the early afternoon, it’s also typical for new wineries to have a smaller list of what is available to try and that changes day to day. overall I felt like for a small winery that has just opened this year that they had more than what I would have expected. If you’re looking to drink local wine into the evening, best to go to Eastwood which is open later.

This is one of the best wineries I've ever went to. We visited this weekend and the staff was so kind and informative. The set up is what won us over though. They essentially took an old farmhouse as it is and started selling wine in it. They kept all of the original furniture and the house is absolutely gorgeous. You get your wine on the first floor then you find a room. Each room has one table in it, so it feels very intimate. Absolutely loved Chiswell and will definitely be returning.

Standard wine from the Carter's Mountain/Chiles Peach Orchard family. The staff was very kind. The house is beautiful and the view even more so. This will be a frequent spot to take family when they're in town.

Excellent choice of not allowing children and dogs! For every one person who complains about this, there are 10 people, like me, who approve of your policy.
I find it unbelievable that someone would give a bad review about a policy that is clearly stated. This would seem to indicate a lack of intelligence.

We love Chiswell Winery!!! Everything from the Delicious Wines to the Outstanding Views to the Polo Matches, we fell in love with the place the minute we walked in. Then it only got better after meeting Tess, M-E and Reagan, They made us feel right at home with their warm genuine personalities and exceptional understanding of wines. We can't wait to visit Chiswell Winery again soon and even more excited to see Tess, M-E and Reagan! Thank you for everything.

What a great experience! We went for a
sundown Friday and it was lively but not
crowded. The staff was incredibly
knowledgeable and the wine was all delicious even the ones that aren't our typical favorites. Plenty of seating options indoor and out and reasonable prices. A must-do!
