Close To Home

My family and I were staying in Altamont for a few days. One day we wanted to go out for lunch. Thank the Lord we stopped at this place! The food was AMAZING! I recommend the Beersheba Burger! The waitress was the hardest working waitress I've ever seen. She was managing the 5 tables that were seated (each table had 4 or more people), cashing people out, and managing to go orders. Despite only 1 waitress the food came rather quickly and it was DELICIOUS! Just good old fashioned home cooking. If you are in this area this is a MUST to stop and eat!

They have the best all home cooked meals rather its a simple hamburger & fries with hand scoop ice cream milkshake or the delicious all homemade desserts! They also offer some amazing breakfast on Saturdays! The owners are the most sweetest people you'll meet, they have an awesome crew of employees too. If your ever in the area I highly recommend taking time and stopping in for a delicious meal or sweet treat!

Oh my goodness! I am so glad I chose this restaurant for breakfast! Hands down the absolute best biscuit sandwich I have ever had. Great grits! Highly recommend this place! Prices are great!! The sandwiches are big enough to fill you up.

This little local restaurant is exactly what we needed to warm and fill our bellies after camping at Savage. Ignore any negative reviews from posh people who don’t understand the culture that “Close to Home” serves. We got a down home and darn good southern breakfast with sweet hospitality on the side. We’ll be back…

This is really the only option available for breakfast in the area, but it turned out to be great! I enjoyed an omelette and my wife had the big breakfast. We were both fully satisfied and the service was friendly and prompt!

Fantastic people I wish I tipped more. There are burger stands in the world that charge double for bland burgers, but this amazing restaurant keeps it affordable and phenomenal.

The food is mouth watering……. The service and waitress was really nice and got right to the point jn a good way
And it actually feels closer to home ….. recomend

The absolute best biscuit in all of Tennessee. I live 12 hours away. My only regret is I will never taste a biscuit this good again

Basic home cooked food. Their breakfast biscuits are excellent. I also enjoy there BLT. So many places don't put much bacon on, theirs actually has a good amount of bacon and they butter and grill the bread. Not healthy, but really good.

Loved the cooking.. drinks were good. Cant get it like that in our state.

Maybe it was 3 days backpacking but the food here was amazing. Honestly it was probably because it was just good food. No frills very tasty burgers and grilled cheeses!

An Altamont Legend!

After a long day of hiking, there is nothing quite like dining at local food joint Close to Home. It has all the food you could want - burgers, chicken, fried pickles, and a solid patty melt.

It's become the tradition every time I find myself near the Gulf.

Great place to go! We were originally going because we saw google review photos of omelets and breakfast food - we went at about 10:30, but there wasn’t really any breakfast. But the food was so good, I definitely recommend the Philly Wrap. People I went with got curly fries, and they were super excited about that. 10/10 recommend for a post-camping food spot.

Great little place run by the nicest people. Food was prepared as requested and tasted great. The biscuits there are awesome as well. One hidden gem is the desserts on the front counter. Check out what they have on any given day and it might be something that you'll really appreciate. Looking forward to going back when I'm in the area.

We stopped in after hiking to nearby Greeter Falls. Couldn’t have asked for a friendlier staff of wonderful ladies. Food was great - we got a burger, chicken wrap, onion rings with their homemade batter, and several desserts, which they also make in-house. Definitely recommend Close to Home! Your delicious food will be served with kindness, a smile, and good conversation.

I don't eat out much. I was on the road and found myself in Altamont. Found this little gem of a restaurant. I found good foods to eat relatively healthy and it was good. Obviously fresh made and with intention. I would stop again if the opportunity avails.

First time eating there. Their breakfast burrito was really good. My husband omelet was really good as well. Check it out! I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Great local down home place. The waitress was very nice and took time to talk. Kind folks. Food was good, right off the main road. Apparently the only restaurant left in the town. Definitely go if you need to stop for a meal. --June 16, 2021
