La Carreta

Absolutely loved this place. I can’t remember his name but he was an amazing server, actually cared to talk to my fiance, my kid and I. He even talked to us about my job and Virginia while waiting on other tables in a timely manner. The drinks were amazing, i thought they were strong which was nice. The food was really good the steak fajitas were delicious. If i ever go back to Louisiana i will for sure be going back there!

Nice hot food. Friendly staff. Restaurant has a nice atmosphere. They're always seems to be a good drink special.

They consistently have excellent service, with appropriate temperatures for the foods, clean dishes and silverware, clean bathrooms, and quick seating. The food tastes great, and they are cautious about allergy issues. Will go again. Good prices.
Second visit: still cautious about allergy issues but every place has mistakes every now and then - the best way to gauge a restaurant is how they deal with mistakes. The server was surprised the kitchen had missed the allergy mention, immediately offered to have the plate redone and whisked it away upon my agreement. The kitchen staff worked swiftly and the server brought out a new plate of food as soon as it was ready. Very professional, apologetic without being overly so, and checked in several times to verify that the food was good and no further problems. Will definitely go again.

I love this place and it very unique with outside seating, inside seating, large bar area with TVs to watch the game. Plus they have large party room separate from the rest. I was told they have live music but it wasn't there when I visited.
This place has lots of personality the local are friendly and cool to hangout with.
So if you are stuck on I12 and need a place to chill during traffic back up or want to visit a new place I would highly recommend this place.
The restaurant manager makes sure my food has no cross contamination but limited on options.
I appreciate all they do for me to have a great meal

I really had a nice time on Wednesday, February 2. Our waiter was so nice. Very sweet. I just wished I had remembered his name. The appetizers were good. We made that as our meal. I now have a new favorite drink... the coconut margarita. I wanted to try something new and was glad I did. This is a great place to go to have drinks and enjoy good food.

One of the best LA Carreta's there is. Downtown Ponchatoula next to the tracks. Great food. Always friendly wait staff. Dog friendly patio seating. The place is always clean. Usually a wait on the weekends, but that's OK because bad restaurants never have a wait do they.... one of our favorites in town

I got shrimp\fish tacos. With jalapeños poppers, and tortilla soup. I absolutely loved the soup! Wow! The only thing I didn’t like were the tortilla shells. But I’m from the Midwest if that means anything. Our server was sweet! All in all great place!

I have visited the Ponchatoula location a few times and am constantly pleased. Their barbacoa tacos are delicious as are the flautas. Margaritas are good. But the stand out is their fajitas. Absolutely delicious. The only thing I would skip is the queso. It lacks depth of flavor and just tastes like melted white cheddar or american cheese. Definitely the best mexican ive found on the north shore so far

Margaritas were on point and the chimi was small, but packed full of flavor and came with so much that it was definitely more than enough! I love hitting this place up when I come to visit my sister

La Carreta has been a staple in Ponchatoula and Hammond for some time and their food is always hot and delicious. They are able to accommodate our family of 8 and their service is always excellent. I especially love when they have the live music as well!

Stopped by on a slow Monday afternoon. Food and service were both excellent! They had a spicy green sauce for the street tacos that just went perfect with a pork tamale.

I Iove this place. Yes it's a chain, but when I am sick all I want is their chicken tortilla soup. I honestly haven't had a bad meal from here, also I love their flautas!

Great place to eat authentic Mexican food. Friendly atmosphere, enjoy the indoor or outdoor environment. Bring the party coworkers, friends and relatives..

Mexican street 🌽 corn was AMAZING, as was the strawberry margarita. Hands down, the best I've ever had. My husband got the carnitas, etch were very good. I'll probably order that next time. Service was great and atmosphere was charming.

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant. I usually eat at another one in the parish. But since trying La Carreta in Ponchatoula, I will gladly drive the 45+ miles when I want Mexican food. The waiters are so polite, friendly and do their job well. The food is awesome!!! I highly recommend this restaurant. ❤

We went in with 17 people, kept our drinks and chips full. Apps came out quick. All main courses came out after about 20 min after apps. All in all we were in and out in about 90 minutes. Great food, great service, and very hospitable.

The courtesy is great. The waiters are nice and they also treat their job with professionalism and respect. I would invite anyone to visit if they haven't already.

Enjoyed our lunch there and it was a great spot to get your moneys worth in food and flavor. The service was excellent.
