This is a lovely park. It's the trail head for a hike that goes south down to the next park. It's a nice easy hike with lots of stunning views. Not into hiking..drive about 2 minutes south past the park and find the small parking area that has access to the lighthouse lookout. There is a small bench at this lookout (about 25 yards by trail from the parking area).

Fantastic park with a sandy public beach, but it is regulated by the tide. Public restrooms are available with benches for changing from street clothing to beach attire. I saw numerous picnic tables available as well as camping sites. Further up the road is a viewpoint in which you can observe the seals. However, the road was closed for maintenance when we were wishing to get to the viewpoint. We were told that the road would reopen later in the day. We will return in a day or two.

Really lovely camping spots near a great beach with tide pools. All the camping spots have hedges separating them. Most sites are large enough for 2 tents, but they are not very big. There are nature presentations on the weekends and a nice nature center for kids. We visit there every year.

Beautiful spot and very quiet. We were here in February, after the area had received a lot of rain. The paved site was still pretty muddy in a couple of spots, but it was nice and level. It was great to have hookups for the two nights we stayed. Kevin the park ranger couldn’t have been more helpful. I only wish we’d had more time to explore the area.

Great beach, super easy to get to. Bathrooms right there. Cool tide pools. Not good for shells or rocks for you beachcombers out there. Take advantage of its namesake if you can and enjoy a sunset.

There's a gated area for daytime parking at one end, but locked no access at night. The other parking lot has 24-hour access, horse shoe pits, n maybe volleyball area bbq areas...Small bridge over a very pretty stream, to take up up the trails. I saw no aggets, but there was a large amount of really Kool rocks no matter. Very nice beach, very clean park, and you can pull up n just sit in ur car watching the sun rises, or very colorful sunsets, or watch the stormy weather if thats ur thing. It's a few miles south of Coos Bay..with stores here n there on main rd. Easy on n off. Very pretty cove for sunsets. Especially if u hike the trail to the point. I would highly recommend this park if u need to hold family functions or group functions. If you wanna park n smooch with ur partner in front of the sunset..or luner events. Or just want quiet time, to breathe n chill n get recharged for ur quest for ur path in this life. You can tell this park has folks in charge who have pride in their work. Be blessed.

Great place to stay. Cost $21 for a tent site but was nice and level. Lots to do in the park.

Nice place. Great tree cover and foliage around the campground. Rangers, hosts and volunteers were all great. I wish firewood could be purchased through a wider range of hours. We could only get it 5-7pm. Verizon didn't reach anywhere but loop A for us. Nice little walk to the beach area, which of course has a nice beach and sunset, where seals can be seen at times.

A beautiful coast and campground! Book ahead as the campground usually gets pretty full. Restrooms and bathrooms were clean but dated. Plenty of berries to enjoy around the park. We had spot A22 and it was the perfect spot.

Beautiful location with an easy to walk to location. Watch out for an incoming tide or you may get stranded on the rocks

We love this state park! The campground is wonderfully staffed and maintained. The Junior Ranger Program services available at this park are fantastic! They are definitely at a higher level than other state parks in the area. They are right in the middle of all the activities! Very educational and diverse area of the Oregon Coast. The beach is great and with so many other things close by to go see and do it's a wonderful place for a little getaway.

It was great, our boys had so much fun searching for and checking out the abundant sealife which can be found in the tide pools near the beach.

Sunset Bay Park is a great place to come enjoy the fresh air with family and friends, there is way more to see than just the beach and tide pools, such as hiking trails with amazing views and a disc golf course. The best part is it doesn't cost anything exept the gas to get there and $5 to park.

A few tips:
-Be sure to go at low tide for the tide pools
-Check for high surf or sneaker wave warnings
-It takes surprising little water to knock you down then wash you into the ocean

A fantastic place to camp. Great dog friendly and clean yurts, and so many fun things to do close by. Make sure not to leave any food out because there is a hoard of racoons that will try to get into it!

Unbelievably Green, extremely clean, well appointed, quiet, and easy to locate and park. We watched a Beautiful sunset at the bay which is just a darling short walk through a tunnel and path of flowers. This marks our second stay and we will be back again.

Beautiful clean spacious park great for our last mini reunion. Beach was amazingly clean and the tide pools were so cool albeit a bit slippery and get ready to sacrifice your shoes to the mud! Campground showers were cold pretty quick but park was at full capacity so can't get too cranky. Thanks for what you do rangers

If you're in Florence you must take a stroll through Coos Bay, only 40mins south. We were disappointed with the Sea Lion Caves telling us the sea lions had migrated north, but we found this place. This was priceless!

One of the most Beautiful places on the West Coast of the USA. You go for the sunset (of course) and keep going back for all the other Fabulous things this area has to offer. And again, Finish up with a gorgeous Sunset. Rain or shine you can see it.
Mass people in the summer tho and pretty busy all year round. If you want to camp, reserve your space as soon as possible. Just driving all the way and hoping, thinking probably, there is a spot is not going to turn out well. I saw some of the buried forest. Not along the whole beach this time but a few towards the river. Very cool.
And the Sunset did not disappoint.

Nice campground with sites of a typical size for OR state campgrounds; which is 2 to 3 times the size of private camp sites. Many of the picnic tables are new in January of 2023.

From here you can walk to the Northern side of Sunset Bay and also start the trail to Cape Arago, a gorgeous day hike along the bluffs overlooking the ocean.
