La Llorona Progressive Mexican Cuisine

This is a really lovely place. Food is really tasty. Definitely go for the spicy salsa it slaps. The margaritas are fantastic especially their seasonal passion fruit one. Very nice atmosphere I’ll definitely be back!!

We've been here 5 times and loved it every time, so we decided to see if they'd cater my wife's birthday party. We had about 20 people, and the spread that La Llorona proved was fantastic! They provided everything needed to make your own tacos, and the selections of sides and toppings was amazing! More than enough for everyone, with lots of leftovers. All gluten free, and everything was delicious. I can't recommend them highly enough for catering, they went above and beyond!

The jalapeño margarita is perfection. Spicy and sweet! The sauces and salsas were full of flavor. I wanted to enjoy every bite of my whole burrito, but it was just too big to finish. Hard to find a more perfect meal from service to meal. Go now.

This is a really cute place to go for dinner. I love how the waitresses are dressed in those beautiful Mexican traditional tops. Their margaritas are to die for. The food was very delicious and flavorful. The chips were freshly made. I will definitely go back to this place! FYI, they do not take American Express credit cards.

We knew it was going to be an enjoyable meal the minute we walked in. The decor abs set up of the restaurant was gorgeous. We loved the fact we could sit outside unfortunately to our dismay our party couldn't sit together due to the fact that they can't move the outdoor table to accommodate parties over 4. Other than that everything was great. The staff was so friendly and were right there anytime we needed something. I had a Hawaiian Margherita which was well worth what I paid and the meal presentation was beautiful. All the different salsa varieties were amazing with the chips and on our food. They were very pricy but everyone is right now. All in all I can't wait to go back and would highly recommend to everyone.

Great Mexican food right in Niantic. The food is very flavorful. Love that their menu has unique dishes that sets them apart from other New England Mexican restaurants. When in CT, If you want to get a bite that is more regional to Mexico go to La Llorana. The establishment is very warm and welcoming with all the bright colors. The regional Mexico State art displays really keep your attention going. So lovely that the servers all gather together to sing 'Las Mananitas' for their patrons birthdays. (good voices).

The food was very delicious. I had the 3 meat burrito and the corn on the cob. They were very generous with the meat. My wife and daughter had the carne asada. They said that it was really good as well. The service was good considering they were very busy during our visit. I would highly recommend them if you are in the area.

This is a new hot spot in town! A great variety on the menu from appetizers to main course specials and desserts. Great beverage selection as well. Not taking reservations just yet because they just opened but there is ample seating both inside and out although they are not serving outside yet.

The Chip's were fresh, three different dippings, guacamole, mango and pineapple and salsa verde. Yum! Incredible chicken tortilla soup, rich and flavorful. The pork tenderloin quality meat, wonderful sauce... Rice & beans, spot on! And the sweet fried plantains were out of this world. But the crowning moment for me was the flan! I knew by the jiggle that this was no ordinary flan. This was the best flan I've ever had. I've had flan all over the country and overseas and never have I had one like this. Creamy and flavorful with absolutely perfect consistency. I can't wait to go back and try the tres leches!

If you're looking to try something new and different in the area, this is it!

I found this Mexican restaurant to be very reasonable priced. We used to go to another more popular one in Old saybrook but they turned around and changed the menu after they bought it a while and the food is not the same. It was terrible so we decided to try this and it was excellent. I'm going again on Wednesday

The atmosphere and food were both very good. It was so good that we ordered take out the next week. Highly recommend.

I've been here a handful of times and it never disappoints. Staff is always friendly and they have the best happy birthday song. Food is delicioussssss every time. And I am addicted to their mango margarita (it has a kick in the best way! But not for everyone).

Great place the food it is good prices are reasonable and drinks are excellent. The staff is very friendly one of the thing that catched my eyes was our server delivering our food at the table was very interesting how he carry all the plates over his arms very impressed.

Best Mexican restaurant in the local area! Slightly higher prices for Mexican food but the service, food presentation and quality and atmosphere make up for it. I highly recommend any of the margaritas! We sat outside and enjoyed flautas (chicken was a little dry) nachos (chips tasted homemade!), enchiladas and sweet fried plantatains. The beans are amazing!

Excellent food. We go often because it’s the only place I know that the food is always good. The waiters are anttent and the host always tries to find you the perfect table. Service, food, location. Excellent.

After leaving the sad Oyster club in mystic, we came here and had the most flavourful food!! They have The Best nachos around for sure! Paella, tomato bisque were fantastic! Kudos!

OMG Amazing 👏 I'm still new to the area I saw the reviews and said hey why not......best decision ever place is nice and clean the staff was super friendly and helpful definitely returning l.....the stake was so good you have to try it.

So while vacationing in Niantic, Connecticut my Father-in-law says we got a new Mexican restaurant in town! We say, sure! Because mostly they are not even close to tasting like Mexican food! More horrible fast food! But much to our surprise, it was very authentic Mexican food! This place is hopping, awesome Mexican music and great atmosphere! You would at least think you are in Texas if not very close to Mexico! We had Calamari and Elote(Mexican street corn) for appetizers, Sangria Marg and hubby had Jarritos(very Mexican soda)and for dinner I had Chicken Mole,Oaxacan-Style! Has dark chocolate in it! Was delicious and very authentic! Hubby had a chicken burrito with verde sauce! SO YOU HAVE TO TEY THIS PLACEto if you live here or visiting and want authentic Mexican food! It says Progressive Mexican Cuisine, not sure what that means, but It's definitely authentic to me! So, Two thumbs up and All the ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s! Eat Well, and Live Life!

This restaurant is incredibly good. I loved the atmosphere and the menu. Very fun menu with enough options to keep me coming back for a long time. Loved the salsa flight - what a great idea - and the pipian de puerco (may have spelled that wrong - had to use Google translate to learn that La Llorona means "The Weeping Woman"). Enjoy!

La Llorona has one of the best steaks I have ever eaten before!
I currently reside in Orange County, but I am visiting some family who recently moved here. We were recommended this place by some friends, but I did not expect such quality food and service.
I will definitely be returning again before I leave.

Highly recommended. The food was top notch and the menu has delicious classics and a good number of unique dishes.
