Love this forest in all seasons. Marked trails (for each level/degree of walking/hiking - choose your difficulty), woods, water, wildlife to see. Such a beautiful immersive forest.

Great state forest for camping, hiking, and hunting! Although I wish campsites were further apart from each other. My favorite winter and fall destination in this area.

We had a great time camping and fishing. You can't beat the price. I would recommend getting one of the campsites by the pond because they are in a more secluded area then the one we stayed on #1, but overall we enjoyed ourselves. The campsites are private and there are fire pits and port-potties. The only problem was on Friday night with some kids throwing a giant party until 2am with loud music, fireworks and they abused the porta pottie area, but the next night was quiet and peaceful.

Really nice place. Lots of trails, picnic area, camp sites, pond (fishing & non motorized boats).
Unfortunately there are lazy slobs that show up and leave their garbage all over. Ive picked up food wrappers, plastic, fishing line, bottles, cans just about everything you can think of people have left there. Had to untangle a baby goose trapped in fishing line twice now. These animals have more right to be there than people do.
I'm sure saying something to these useless scumbags won't have any effect on their conduct. If they did pick up after them selves they'd probably just throw it out their car window anyway. I bet if they got a finger cut off every time they littered they'd stop then. Or maybe their head caved in.

The greatest place on earth. Love it. It's a nice quiet place and there's no fee to camp. Just call and make reservations and pick up the camping permit or have it mailed Email or regular mail. So serene yet you can find a few things to do for fun too. The people who you meet there are usually really cool, fun and interesting people and have been going there for many years. In just the recent few years has it become more well known. My other half and I have been going since 1988 when we were just kids. So many memories. We truly love this place. Anyone who has been would agree. Also the ranger is easy to get along with, he's a good person. I recommend that everyone should experience this awesome place for camping, fishing, hiking and cross country trails in the winter. 💕💕💞

Nice quite campsites. Not allowed to swim but the sites are nice and our dogs were able to run around without us worrying. They say 8 ppl per site but you could easily fit 20 tents in most of them and still have a monster game of volleyball in the center of your site. Bring wood. Not many dead trees and its super dark at night

I really enjoyed this campsite. It was nicely forested and quiet. I called and made a reservation the wednesday before I wanted to stay on Friday. This was in early september so I was a little surprised it wasnt all booked. Check out their campsite map before calling because they let you choose. I tried to find descriptions of the campsites ahead of time and couldn't find them so here is my 2 cents. The "water front" seeming campsites are not super water front, you dont have a great view because there are many trees, additionally the sites are closer to the road so cars will drive by alot more and you have less privacy because the sites were all next to each other without much brush between them. I personally stayed in campsites 8 and 9. I really liked them because they were deeper into the forest and had more space between the campsites for privacy. Campsite 8 was MASSIVE. Thick brush between the campsites there. Alot of openings for tents. You could have 4-6 tents set up there. Campsite 9 was pretty large as well but its fire pit was a stone circle rather than a cooking pit. Most sites had a cooking pit, none of them had a picnic table. Not great visibility upwards if you wanted to see the night sky, I had a friend bring a telescope he couldn't use. I would return to this state park and this campsite. I would recommend campsites 7-9.

lovely little campground with a dozen well separated spots, lots of trails for hiking in the summer that are groomed for skiing and snowshoeing in the winter

Groomed trail for xc ski, snowshoe and fat tire off-road bikes, passed two of them. Beautiful scenic trails and if lucky may come across FROSTY volunteers offering treats at trailhead.

This place is loaded with largemouth bass and pickerel. The pickerel run on the small size but it is nothing to catch fat largemouth bass over 18 inches. If you are not catching them, you are doing something wrong. Very nice crappie in here also. Been coming here for 20+ years.

Even though we endured lots of rain (bad luck), the area was beautiful and clean and we would love to have a visit again! Shoutout to the great DEC officer who helped my family!
