Early Bird Cafe

Well after 2 years in Helena we finally got around to trying the early bird cafe. In my opinion there aren't a lot of good restaurant choices in Helena, so I was hopeful for Early Bird.

We looked online and determined that both my wife and I wanted to try the chicken fried steak, because that was supposed to be one of their best entrees, and so we were very disappointed to find that when we arrived they were totally out! At first I was going to take away a star for that but then I realized that that could happen anywhere.

Instead I got the breakfast burrito, and it was large, although not quite as large as I had imagined it would be, especially compared to wife's Spanish omelette, which with her hashbrowns and toast, completely covered her plate. It was ginormous.

My girls got a pancake each, and they were huge, only one of my girls finished their pancake. They were about 8" and very thick, so that was a good deal and filled them up too.

They were also VERY attentive, always refilling the coffees and waters, and asking how we were doing multiple times. They got more busy around 8 am though.

Overall it was a good experience, so we plan on going back for the chicken fried steak soon, and I will update this review with another when we get it.

Thnk mom and pop diner vibes. Hamburgers, skillets, french toast, hashbrowns, and more. The food was tasty. We had a Hawaiian Skillet and Green Chili Skillet. The dining area and restroom were clean. Service was fast and friendly.

I went here a couple of weeks ago and was not disappointed. The service was fast and friendly and the food was quite good. I look forward to stopping in whenever I can.

Absolutely the best Spanish Omelette I have ever had! They make their own Spanish Cheese Sauce … I’m always wanting more cheese, this recipe’ out of the world’! Visiting from Great Falls, MT they didn’t disappoint! 👏🏻

Early Bird Cafe is a place where the food is good, the wait staff are sassy, and you leave knowing you had an awesome meal! If you are in Helena, MT, eat here!!

Coming from a big city, this diner is one of the best I've ever dined at. The steaks were nice and thick, the eggs were delicious, and the staff were friendly. If I pass by Helena, I'll definitely eat breakfast here again.

Food twas amazing, service curious, workers look like they are from heaven, thus they make amazing meals. Pancakes, sprinkled with love. bacon, ripped straight from the backside of a pig. As I could only fit half a big fluffy pancake, 3 peices of bacon, and an egg as big as my hand, I did not expose myself to the full experience. Thus the meal was pleasant although I did not have everything. If thee have never been here, go here, NOW!!

Overall it was a good place to eat they were out of a few items but was very good otherwise.

I'm picky especially about breakfast. They have the best in town pretty much next to a couple others. So yes the food is amazing. Every bit as if you made it yourself ( if you happen to be a good cook).

The breakfast sandwich on a beautiful biscuit was huge and very delicious. The three egg omelet was also huge and tasty. The coffee was also very good.

Update: I've been back here a couple times recently. Whatever timing issues there had been seem to have been ironed out. The food comes out quickly and my coffee cup never ran dry. Give this spot a try

Original review: The food is pretty tasty. The service was friendly. Since it's located in an old Pizza Hut, I'm not sure the business itself is designed ideally for a breakfast joint. There just didn't seem to be the smoothest flow that morning. I would definitely like to give this place another chance on a weekday.

Great food. Delicious coffee. We dined at a high-traffic time, but the service was great & the delay was no longer than expected. Our server worked her butt off, but still was attentive to ensure we had a great meal. Kudos!

We really enjoy going here. Usually for breakfast. Large portions and reasonable prices. Sometimes we'll share an omelette. Yesterday we went after exercising. Got there at 12:35. (They close at 1 on weekdays) The place wasn't too busy.. and they didn't mind us taking our time. We enjoyed sitting by the window, soaking up the sun as we looked out over their snow covered front yard.

Prices are very reasonable. The food was good. Service was good but short handed. I will visit again

The Early Bird serves the best pancakes in town. I always get 1 on the side every time I'm here for breakfast and it's almost always the only thing I finish. I've ate here a dozen times at least and I never leave disappointed. Great food, great service.

Such a delightful Cafe with amazing quality food, we always go for there very affordable and wonderfully crafted breakfast burritos. We always do take out and the severe whom takes are order over the phone is always polite and knowledgeable of the menue and pastries. THERE VANILLA DOUGHNUTS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD INSALY DELISHOUS! A wonderful local Cafe whom respects theres customers and provides top quality food!! A+++

Very warm atmosphere and really good food! Seat yourself and they come to you. Food was super fresh and tasty! Reasonable prices and people!

It's simple, really. Consistent service, good food.
They keep the coffee coming. Gets more crowded after 8 am, but so far not a big pile of people waiting for seats.
