Tropico Gold Mine

Sometime late 1960's early 70's my grandparents lived at the mine and gave tours. My brothers and I use to stay for a week or two and help give tours but mostly we got into trouble. The mountain is honeycombed with tunnels and could very easily cave in under a mans weight. The main shaft goes down 700 ft to water then another 200 ft or so.
When the price of gold went up the mine was sold but due to insurance cost they were unable to actually mine it for the gold. Memories lol

Parents use to know the Settles who own property. Sad it's closed very unique area.

It's kind of creepy be careful with the dogs around the gate was closed.

Cool place but it's not open to the public. It's privately owned. You can park along side the road for pictures and that's it. I saw people up in there but legally, that's not allowed.
