Golden Chips

This quickly became one of our favorite places to eat in Asheville! I found out about this place through a Facebook group, and we went to try this place in the same week. We have since been twice, and have plans to continue to go. This place has chicken tender and fish, as well as french fries and other items. They make most of their sauces in-house, which is super awesome. We ordered our food, got combos, and sat down. Food was freshly prepared and out to us within ten minutes. The chicken was amazing, and you could tell that it had never been frozen. The breading of the chicken is well-seasoned, and the chicken is crispy and juicy! The french fries are also fried perfectly. I've tried the aioli, peppernaise, andalouse, honey mustard, and creolaise sauces. I personally loved the aioli, honey mustard, and peppernaise! They also have "regular" sauces such as BBQ and ranch, and bottles of ketchup on the tables. I have tried the ranch, and it was that good restaurant ranch which paired perfectly with the chicken. We also have had the yuca fries, which were also amazing. They have a certain flavor that goes with a specific sort of sauce, I found that the peppernaise and ranch worked well with them. The food is a little pricey, but it is so worth it to me. A 3 piece chicken tender combo will leave me full for half of a day. The people working are incredibly nice, as well. We definitely will be coming back again.

My wife and I tried Golden Chips for the first time today. We ordered the cod filet sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich, both with fries (chips). All of the food was delicious and we loved all of the sauces that we tried. My only gripe would be that the cod sandwich had one small filet of cod on a much larger roll, so the ratios were a bit off. We might consider paying for a second piece of fish to fill that roll next time. But we were still pleased, nonetheless, and will definitely be back.

Great service. Can watch as they cook. Large piece of cod with spices, crunchy outer layer. Small space, limited seating. Different options for sauces, plus vinegar. I had the Creolaise which was flavorful, I enjoyed it immensely. Cheddar cheese sauce is like the cheese sauce from a nacho option at a gas station. I loved it, though

Brought my daughter in for a quick bite. I didn't realize this was the Ruth's Chris's to fish and chips. Oh my God they had everything you could imagine from Chicken salad to fried Chicken to grilled chicken cod. It was amazing. Then the sauce is all homemade. Oh my God definitely a must try!

What an outstanding treasure in South Asheville. Genuine and friendly service! The chicken and fries are cooked to order and taste amazing!

Imagine getting wild caught fresh cod and Belgium fries with yummy hand-made sauce on the go - delicious! Especially like the Creole and Aioli w horseradish. I was initially worried about getting fried and fried, but everything was so fresh and well cooked. (Salads and sandwiches are offered too) This little gem is near a large chicken chain (mostly fried or reheated) but huge difference in taste and quality. Owners super friendly and customer-focused. ✔ it out for yourself

Fast fried food... Ok, they do have nice salad choices and a few non fried items too... but fot the most part fried food is the specialty. What can I say...Best fish and chips in Asheville. Cod, moist tender flakey complimented by light crispy batter fried to perfection. Swai, even the fingers are substantial enough to be moist and tender, with good flavor, not overpowering, wonderfully breaded with a light crisp cornmeal breading, and fried to perfection Fries, again perfection, thick cut, crisp outer, tender, and flavourful. A bunch of wonderful, made in house, sauce choices. it's all good, a hard choice to only pick 2. Standard house tarter and Creolaise are the bomb. All at a very reasonable price. Very impressed!

This place was so clean! It’s yuca, potato and sweet potato fries and fish and chicken tenders. Simple fast food, made well, and it’s a family run, locally owned and operated business. I’m glad we came by!

Great sauces - my first time so I had to get all of them! Loved the Samurai and Aioli best. Chicken and fries were very good as well. Definitely going back. Also the gentleman who took my order was super nice and gave me a punch card.

Delicious fresh and juicy chicken tenders and sweet potatoes fries and i had creolaise and aioli sauces, nice staff clean place, I recommend this place.

The service was excellent, friendly, fast and welcoming. The food was top notch. Fries were delicious. And the cod was among my very favorites. The season’s on both the cod and chicken tenders were phenomenal. And the homemade sauces good lord I fell in love. We will be back. We will make this our regular spot to go when we watch a movie at the theater and we highly recommend everyone try it as well.

My wife and I just moved from Florida. One thing we miss is the seafood. We tried Golden Chips to see if we could find anything here close to Florida seafood. We can honestly say there was nothing we had in Florida that tasted any better than this place. My wife said the only thing that would make it better is if they would do fish nuggets so the next time we went in, she asked them if they would do that for us and they did And it was absolutely awesome. Everything about this place is amazing and we recommend it to seafood lovers.

Not only is the food delicious, the prices are incredible! Their tenders are juicy, well seasoned, and the sauces compliment them well! Everything is always fresh, you always get good portions, and they do a great job! Highly recommend them!

Great people + great fresh food = a must have in Asheville. You will not be let down by the quality and attention to detail in everything they do. Hand breaded Chicken, Fish and coming soon SHRIMP. Hand made sauces and fries are the best. My family and I highly recommend them!! I suggest Golden Chips to everyone I meet.

Best fried fish in South Asheville! Everything is made fresh and they also have fantastic chicken fingers. Fries are great too, and try the yucca fries, they are really good. Many different dipping sauces to choose from as well.

Loved every bite! Can’t wait to go back for more. The tartar sauce was on point, and the breading was so tasty on the cod. We got the Fish and Chips and the fries were perfect and the Cod was cooked to perfection as well. Great job, and we will be back!

Seriously an absolute hidden gem!
Fish is excellent and the chicken is some of the freshest, juiciest I've EVER had. You can tell everything is hand made to order. Very nice people, family owned and operated. Keeping it simple and doing things right!

Nice people. Great food. When they say careful it's hot. They mean it. Definitely have time to enjoy the fries before diving into the strips. They're hot and juicy. Several sauces to choose from. Most of them homemade. I had the Chipotle and peppernaise. Both good. Chicken strips had a nice this breading.

Crisp perfectly cooked fish that was complemented by the stunning homemade sauces. The fries were thick, crispy and melted in our mouths. The owner was personable, friendly and remembered our order and even how many sauces we had.
The atmosphere was made even better with the perfect date. 💜

Seriously the best fries you will ever try. So crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside! House made honey mustard is chefs kiss! Also the chicken tenders and 10/10! Can’t go wrong!
