Sorry to say this was our first visit to Martinelli’s even though they’ve been open a long time. Ordered a Cuban sandwich and Hot Pastrami sandwich. Out of this world good! Similar to the paninis that I ate while living in Sicily. Grilled just right. Lots of meat. Sandwiches had just the right amount of spice with mustard, mayonnaise, and pickle. Lots of calories, but would readily do this again! I only needed a half sandwich, but ended up eating the whole sandwich. Couldn’t stop eating it! Big thumbs up from us for the sandwiches! Would not buy the raisin cookie again though. We prefer our own home recipe compared to this packaged cookie. Very clean inside the restaurant. Will definitely go again!! Thank you.

They have wonderful baked goods and sweet treats along with a full menu and lots of snacks, spices, etc for sale. They use and sell bread and baked goods from Central Illinois Bakehouse which is also used by their sister restaurant The Literary.

Best Reuben sandwich I've had anywhere close by in a long time. Perfectly grilled, freshest ingredients, lovely and polite staff. The deli is clean, modern, and has plenty of seating. Great market selections too and meat and seafood options in the freezer case!
Don't forget the pastry options, delicious and beautifully crafted. Oh and the BREAD...must grab several loaves!😊

I was so thrilled to see that there was chicken salad. It was so good! I took the raspberry limoncello cake to go and it was delicious.

Super clean, courteous staff and great selection of coffees and other items.

Came here on a Saturday for one of their tastings and the food was amazing. Located on the edge of town. With plenty of parking, not many college students but local patrons. Great selections of foods and ingredients for gifting. Brought a friend from out of town and she was also wowed by the selection of foods from croughnuts to good quality breads and cheeses. Artisainal desserts along with savory items.

Love the crusty toasted bread, tangy mustard and tender pastrami of the hot pastrami sandwich. It was big enough that I shared it with my husband and was full! Super friendly staff and lots of samples to try. Love that they carry American Spoon and Matiz products. Thank you for bringing this much needed deli experience to Champaign!

We made the opening at Martinelli‘s Market Bakery and Deli today in Champaign. The food was excellent. I had the muffaletta, and my husband had the Italian sandwich. Both were fresh, the meats and cheeses were excellent, and the breads are their specialty. Our sandwiches were definitely large enough to share, however, we ate half and took the rest home for dinner. We also had the Italian picnic pasta salad. I will definitely order that again. For dessert, we selected the chocolate pistachio cannoli. Another great choice. The cannoli shell was dipped in chocolate and had a creamy pistachio filling. We live two hours away, but we will be back. Congratulations on a successful opening day.

It’s super nice inside. Everything is fresh and made to order. It was given me New Jersey Housewives and New Jersey Shore vibes. The staff is super nice and very hip. I ordered the beef and swiss it was good. They don’t hold back on the meat. It was a big sandwich with fresh sourdough rosemary bread. They have good pastries and fresh bread. They have condiments you can purchase also. I definitely see them receiving great business here in Champaign. Definitely would recommend.

Stopped in for lunch while here for a campus tour and was blown away! The staff are super friendly and the space is bright and clean. I had the fig and goat cheese sandwich and it was absolutely scrumptious! I read other reviews complaining about price, but I live in another college town (Ann Arbor) and we pay a similar price at our favorite delicatessen (Zingermans). You are not going to get $6 sandwiches with a side and drink here because this is not a Subway. The unique options and quality ingredients are worth the cost.

I selected the Focaccia Bread, a Bagel, and a jar of Truffle Pesto.
I also, purchased ground, Mexican Chorizo from their freezer case.
The staff were very welcoming and courteous. Enjoyed great seating in a spacious dining area. Located near downtown Champaign...Ample parking is available at their onsite lot, adjacent to Martinelli's entrance.
Catering and Lots of gift giving ideas, for the holiday season, are available here! I plan to stop by again, soon!

We loved sharing the turkey Reuben and matso ball soup. I especially like that it came with slaw instead of craut. A fresh made cannoli and bw cookie were hits for dessert.

Went there for restaurant week and got fig/arugula/prosciutto on a baguette. Y-U-M. Variety of boutique and bougie pantry items available. Delicious bread and lots of pastry options. Deli had some great looking meat, though most of the space was designated for baked goods. My friend, a local reuben aficionada, got the reuben and ranked it in the top two in Chambanavoy. Do not be deterred by the price, it weighed about 1.5 lbs and each half looked like a whole sandwich.

We tried the matzo ball soup and turkey reuben sandwich...so good, and *huge*! Easily big enough to split between 2 people. And those pastries...mmm! Super delicious. 😋 Extra bonus: free parking in the adjacent lot - a rarity for downtown Champaign.

Great food (wife and I had a sandwich and burger), they were both excellent! My wife said her sandwich may be the best she's had since we moved to Illinois 9 years ago!

Loved loved LOVED the pizza! Great for grabbing a slice and look forward to getting a whole pie. The European imports are also great! Looking forward to coming back and trying more things!

As a native NY'er, I'm picky about delis and especially B&W cookies - both were hits and gave me a little taste of home - definitely check this one out.

Just had the Turkey Reuben on sourdough - a straight up 10/10! Real Turkey, a nice Swiss, coleslaw, and subbed on grilled sourdough bread. No complaints!

What a hidden gem!!! The Pastrami Rubin and Chicago dog Wow tasty. You can taste the slight smoke and the bread. We will be back.
