The best hot dogs I’ve ever had. The relish is uniquely delicious! You can taste the reason why this place has been around for a long time. The onion rings were fresh and yummy and the chili dog I took to go sealed the deal for me. So.dang.good. This place will be a must go whenever I’m in North Jersey. Thanks for the lovely hospitality as well… this place is a winner!

Ok, I see what the hype is about.

Was told to try this place out by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. Went with the ripper dog with their chili and most importantly, their relish (which by far was the best).

It was my first time and the worker game me some guidance on how to order the dog to get the best out of it.

I'm from MD but married a Jersey girl over 40 years ago.. Rutt's Hut is our go to stop off when visiting the family. Order your dogs as Wellers gives them a little more snap. Add the relish and mustard for something very special. The Onion Rings are incredible. Prices have gone up but what hasn't. Heard the Orange Duck amazing. Have taken our kids here and now the Grandchildren. Long live Rutts. Maryland has crab cakes and Thrashers but Jersey has Rutt's Hut.

You cannot go wrong at Rutt's Hut. Well, you can go wrong if you don't go.

First learned about this place in the mid 90's on a PBS special ( along with Super Duper Wienie )

Service was fantastic. Super friendly, extremely helpful and patient with obvious new customers.

I got two 'rippers'. One with chili and one plain. Added their signature relish to half of each one.

Amazing. I am saddened that it took me this long to get there.

This place is a great stop off on the way up to New England, or if you’re traveling around right outside NYC. The relish is fantastic, it really makes the dog. I recommend the chili cheese dog with relish, don’t be afraid of the color. Photos will never do justice.

Gotta put a side note that says the service is fantastic for a place that probably gets asked the same exact question a bagillion times a day.

Rutt’s Hut has the BEST hot dogs in the world. Fun Fact: Hot Dogs were actually mistakenly discovered in Ancient Rome by emperor Nero’s cook Gaius. It then traveled and evolved to the official birthplace Germany. I say that because these Rutt’s Hut hot dogs, specifically the wellers, are better than the original. Better than Nathans, better than every single brand out there. Also! Their Cheeseburgers are surprisingly phenomenal too. Go check this place out and get 3 wellers, a cheeseburger and fries and you can thank me later :)

Good spot for hotdogs. There was a line when I got there but I was able to order in just a few minutes. Menu is competitively priced with their famous fried hotdog at $5 or less (depending on the choice of toppings). FYI there are no chairs inside but there are plenty of standing tables you can use. Also they do not accept card

Exactly the experience you want from a hotdog joint. Great honest food at a reasonable price, the staff are just the nicest people and both the bar side and take-out side are perfectly what you imagine they should be. Perfect.

We got three dogs and the Frenchies with Gravy (and a high life). One dog was plain so we could add the famous relish, one was chilli-cheese, the third we had planned on sauerkraut but the guy suggested that the chilli and relish worked well together, and he was damn right! It was the perfect balance of rich from the chilli and sweet from the relish, with the crunch of the fried dog.

Worth the hype. Best hot dog and home made chili. Disco fries were good as well

Its altogether a different experience to be here, you should definitely visit once to understand why it’s favorite place for many.

Very simple people, great service, delicious food and awesome price. This place will take you back to a 85 year old setup. No frills, just awesome food.

Ripper is a must try with relish. It’s for sure different than what you have eaten anywhere else. To a contrast I even liked the ripper platter which came with one of the best coleslaw and mashed potato I ever had.

It’s has ample of parking but be sure to carry cash as it’s cash only place.

This is definitely an amazing hot dog experience. One side is fast food. The other side is restaurant style with a bar. Definitely a fun place to visit…

Great experience at Rutt’s. Food was great and atmosphere was 10/10. My husband and I did NOT need 2 sides of cheese for 2 meals but regardless, we loved it.

Anytime I am in the area I HAVE to stop by for some rippers (get it with relish). It is epecially exciting when I get to introduce new soon to be fans of this quirky old school spot with a picturesque view of the motorway!
I am not being sassy... it is great eating your dog and watching traffic go by (or stand still, as the case may be).
The unique atmosphere and delicious (and very reasonably priced) food go hand in hand to take this place to the next level of 'must try'.

The carryout is my go to, but... If you have the time... GO TO THE BAR/DINING ROOM!
You time travel 85 years back with a cold beer in a lil glass and it is WILD!

Rutt’s Hutt is a cash-only spot known for its famous ‘Ripper’ hot dogs, which are fried to perfection. It’s absolutely worth a visit for a quick bite. While you might be skeptical about it being the best hot dog in America, it’s definitely among the top contenders.

To start with I came to NJ to visit my family, I had to try this place before going back to Georgia, I literally went here beforengoing to the airport, hot dog is a fried sausage, Chilli is a bit soft but good, cheese is good too. And the relish they have is great no wonder why they have been working almost 100 years!

Definitely lives up to the hype. Delicious dog. Delicious mustard. Best relish I’ve ever had. The people working here are just as great as the food. Can not wait to come back.

Excellent dogs eh RIPPERS. chilli was great and the clam strips meal was killer.

Don’t sleep on the relish. It’s a wild color but one of the best I’ve ever had.

Awesome hot dogs. This place has been around forever. You need to go try anything on the menu there.

To get the best experience ask for your hotdogs well done. The front stand is as bare bones as you can get. No seating, just a center counter and window counters. The inside bar is a time machine into the past. You feel like you went back in time to the 30's or 40's, but the atmosphere is friendly and same great food.
