Cafe con Leche

When we travel, we like to try the local food/restaurants and this one happened to be very close to the hotel we were staying at in Des Moines so we decided to try it! Amazing food!! All fresh. The coffee shakes were great, the staff was very friendly. All in all a great little diner and great experience.

The food is phenomenal, vegetarian friendly as well. Great coffee and such fantastic employees, very cheerful and kind. We witnessed a challenging situation they handled with kindness and grace. I cannot wait to return, I have told so many people this is a great breakfast gem in Des Moines.

Eat here! The food was killer, it was really clean, and the owners were
friendly! We had iced lattes, chilaquiles verdes, and the Texas brunch- would recommend all. Wasn’t super busy when we went so the atmosphere was very relaxed

Friendly service , and Delicious food . They have Mexican/American options for breakfast and lunch . Good tacos , Cuban was Delicious, and Tres leches pancakes are amazing .

Cozy restaurant in a quiet location. Food is super great although a little pricey for the neighbourhood. Would definitely return here. If you are a fan of Tres Leches then definitely do not miss trying ‘Pancake Tres Leches’ it’s so authentic and definitely the best in Des Moines. No vegetarian options but they were kind to customize upon asking.

This place is a gem, limited menu, but they excel at what they offer. I had a Texas brunch, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the black beans and rice were great. My husband had the chili verde, and it was tangy and full of great flavor. I also had a Hibiscus lavender latte, and it was amazing! I'll stop in there for one every time I'm in the area from now on!

Always a tasty breakfast. I love the El Americano or the Crossant sandwich. My 2 favorites. Great family owned restaurant. Amazing coffee and lots of bites!!! A nice to call your home base. Very friendly wonderful owners. Support small business. This is a great stop. Opens at 7 am. Wonderful breakfast and lunch. Closes at 3 pm. You will love it.

The service and food was amazing. This will be a place that we will visit again. Kid friendly options and the drinks were good too.

It has been long over due to try Cafe con Leche. When you walk in I recommend to grab a menu and find a seat because when my husband and I arrived they had a line at the counter and all the seats were full. You are not seated by staff. A table opened up and I sat down while my husband ordered our food.
I ordered the red chilaquiles con huevo, (egg) and a hot caramel latte. The Heavenly horchata shake was so delicious it didn't last for a picture. I would definitely come back!

As soon as we walked in we got greeted by a Hispanic women! She was so welcoming made me feel at home, it brought back memories from when I would go visit my grandma. The food was delicious we had the chilaquiles with steak and let me tell you this is the best chilaquiles I’ve had. We had chocolate abuelita latte and it was also amazing! Great job !

How did I just find out about this place?!? Their street tacos are absolutely divine!!! I got the chicken tacos which are juicy, and perfectly marinated. My boyfriend got the pork tacos. These are now my favorite tacos in Des Moines! Not only are their tacos good, but their coffee offerings are pretty impressive as well. I got a matcha latté which was not over-sweetened like most places. Everything was perfect

My wife and I had breakfast at Cafe con Leche. Staff was very friendly, Americano coffee was fantastic and the food was great. Prices are similar to what you’d see at a diner or breakfast restaurant chain, but more variety here and homemade meals (chilaquiles, tortas, etc). Would definitely recommend!

Shared the mazapan latte and also got a breakfast burrito. My wife said it was the best breakfast burrito she’s ever had. We can’t wait to come back for lunch, the entire menu looks incredible!

Great little sit down restaurant to grab a quick, gourmet, coffee and homemade breakfast. The strawberry crêpes are some of the best I’ve ever had.

Delicious authentic Mexican dishes! It brings back childhood memories of a home-cooked meal. All the different combinations of flavors connect so perfectly... I could go on and on, but it does no justice. You have to try it for yourself!!

I had the horchata shake and the chilaquiles con salsa Verde (Green Sauce).

Excellent food and quick service , excellent use of the old pizza hut and papa kerns space.

Loved this cute little place. Quaint and fast service. Food was so yummy and my latte was yummy too. :) 10/10 would recommend!

Great place to get breakfast and a coffee/latte. I had the omelette and horchata latte, but there were numerous other items that looked 🔥 Service is counter service and food was ready fast. Went on a Saturday and it was busy but we didn't wait too long for our table.

Steak Street Tacos were amazing. Their house hot sauce and their refried black beans that they serve with it, as really good. The perfect breakfast, from a quaint, cozy diner-like cafe. Worth it.

The food was SOOO good, employees were very very sweet and timely. Horchata shake was so delicious and I loved the street tacos. Definitely will be coming back!!
