James Brewer Garden Design

James assisted in designing a backyard space for our new home. He is very knowledgeable about what plantings will work best for a given location and he has great ability to envision a blank space and give it life and texture. He has been very patient and willing to accept our ideas and has created a plan that we look forward to seeing as he and his crew will begin work in the fall.
***Update: James and his crew completed our hardscape plans during fall of 2023. Our patios and firepit spaces are beautiful. The work done by he and his crew is very well done and the attention to detail is evident. I can’t complement his crew enough. Hard working, friendly and professional. They take great pride in what they are building and it shows in the end result. We will see them again in the spring for final touches and the beginning of the next phase….. plantings.

We hired James to help us with our long neglected and sad looking landscape. He came up with a beautiful unique landscape design that complemented our simple 1850’s farmhouse. James was a pleasure to work with, very responsive to concerns and questions and has extensive knowledge of native plants. We were introduced to James last year and have been working with him since. We have an extensive garden and we have struggled over many years to find the right plants to survive our New Hampshire conditions. Thank you so much for our beautiful garden! We had just moved from California to New Hampshire (where the climate and plants are very different!) and had no idea what to do with our ½ acre “soccer field” yard. It had a nice perimeter, but the center was just lawn. Working with James, he transformed the yard into a lovely English-style garden filled with fragrant hydrangeas, roses, viburnum, wisteria and lavender in addition to gorgeous hornbeam trees lining the granite-scaped pathways. We now have a beautiful stone patio with a pergola plus a firepit, new Trex deck and hot tub! The planning process was a breeze as James came up with a fantastic hardscaped + plantings plan, adjusted to match our expectations and budget, and managed the project from start to finish. James was very communicative, responsive and transparent. He is a joy to work with and we are looking forward to completing phase two of our “dreamy Dover garden” next year. Well done James!

I couldn't be more pleased with the landscape designs and phase one installations that James has completed to date. He worked very carefully and invested time (and patience!) to ensure we remained within my budget.

My only regret is that I didn't engage with him last year during my new home construction process!
