This is a no frills tasting room in Los Olivos you HAVE to visit. For the sake of transparency you have to know that Chris, the owner/host, can come across incredibly blunt and somewhat condescending. That’s only because he’s been in the business for over 36 years and doesn’t believe in the overpriced hype associated with many wineries.

He only carries wines from local producers that focus on quality rather than high volume. His tastings are incredibly reasonable in terms of pricing and you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend a visit!

Excellent selection of Pinot Noirs. Owner is very knowledgeable. If your interested in tasting good wines, its a great choice , but if your out to get drunk with your bridesmaids, don't go.

This was my first stop on my first wine tasting tour in California . I must say that having been to wine tasting places in Australia , New Zealand and South Africa , I find this place completely disappointing . I found the member of staff serving , may be the manager or the owner to be rude and Lacks the mannners needed to talk to customers . In addition , I felt I have been cheated by a cleverly written sign displayed outside concerning a taste of a specific wine for $ 10 when none was available for sale . Not very nice experience .Beware this place .

It takes a while for the owner Chris to warm up to people, but he is a very nice guy. Has been in the valley for a long time, so he know much if the stories of the wineries. He also knows his wines, and carries a good selection of great value Pinot Noir. He specializes in Pinot Noir.

This place is only about the wine. Go here if you want to try amazing, under the radar wines from local producers. Truly spectacular.

If you are looking for the pomp of a typical tasting room, then this is not for you.

I walked in to buy a half bottle of pinot noir and a got a very good recommendation and a reasonable price. The owner was kind and talk about the wine production in the region. Good experience as a "buyer"...I do not know about the tasting experience.

If you are looking for good wine, this is a good place. If you want a good host, this is NOT the place. We were the only people on 9/21/21, he was friendly but came across as a "know it all".

Great wine flight with the tasting fee. No break if you buy a bottle. Grumpy proprietor.

The wines were not as interesting as the host insisted. He knows more about what you like than you do. Definitely a don't bother.

Other reviewers have called the proprietor “Grumpy”. How extraordinarily kind of them.

Personally, I think he’s a full-blown jerk.

First, let me add, that, apparently, he’s recently been having health problems. Ok, sorry to hear that, but this just adds to his “I could give a rats about any of you”, attitude that he’s had most of his life. I’d bet big money.

I told him that I was as only interested in tasting two wines. Wrath and Ken Brown Pinot Noir’s. That’s it.

He poured me a portion of Wrath that had been opened 3 days earlier, with NO Aragon or any inert gas to keep it. It was dreadful.

How am I to make an informed decision if you’re going to pour me 3 day old swill?

The Ken Brown? “I don’t have one opened”. Well, if I’m in your store to taste just two wines and I’ve ponied up the cash to taste 5 or 6, crack one open!

Whatever his passion for wine once was, it’s clearly gone.

One can only imagine how much this place will prosper, once he’s no longer involved.

I had the worst experience at this store ever for wine tasting. The older man was rude, jaded, and dismissive. He treated me and my guest like we were "bothering" him by being there. He was even rude and short with this couple right next to us. If i hadn't already agreed to his featured tastes for $10 I would have walked RIGHT OUT! The other thing that really bothered me was how severely small his pours were....like really jerko, are you making money off of how LESS YOU POUR?! DO NOT GO HERE PEOPLE!!! This place gets one star otherwise it wont let me leave a post. uugggghhh
