Hattie B's Hot Chicken - Birmingham

Just moved to Alabama and work about 10 mins from this place , food is DELICIOUS!!! I have been here 2x already. The bacon/cheese grits are so so good! The chicken sandwich is amazing with great hot flavor. We love this place already. It does get a bit packed inside and crowded , but food doesn't take long to come out. Service is great also. Definitely recommended!!!!!!

Loved the it!!! If you want hot (spice-wise) chicken, then you get hot chicken. I went through 3 cups of water on one piece of chicken 😂😂😂

Not everyone has good baked beans, but Hattie B’s does! The greens were a little spicy, but delicious!

I really tried very hard not to indulge in dessert, but I had to have that peach cobbler. It was worth the sinfully, delicious sugar rush!!!!

Food was really good! Food was fresh! Service was quick! I ordered the three wings ($13) HOT! with greens (spicy, but tasty) and pimento Mac and cheese (creamy and flavorful... a little spicy too). Wings served on a piece of bread with a dipping sauce. The HOT was spicy. There were two levels that were higher: Damn Hot!! & Shut the Cluck Up!!! Food was a pretty good size. I also liked that they had local beer on draft and bottled domestic beer.

Update: Visited again.... brought the kids. Food took 45 minutes to arrive, but the Staff was very apologetic and brought my Diabetic son ice cream when his sugar was dropping. Food was fresh and great this time as well. I ordered the same thing. My son tried the grits (creamy, cheese, and good).

My family and I had an amazing experience at Hattie B’s Chicken in Birmingham! The location is convenient with plenty of parking, but if you plan to visit on a Sunday, be sure to arrive early to beat the post-church rush. We got there right when they opened, and there were already a few people in line.

Now, let's talk about the chicken! If you're a fan of spicy food, you're in for a treat. The hot seasoning is no joke – it's the kind of spicy that makes your nose run and your sweat glands kick in. Even the mild option has a kick to it, so if you have kids who can't handle spice, you might want to go even milder.

Apart from the chicken, we loved their sides too; they were tasty and complemented the main dish perfectly. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is cozy, creating a great dining experience.

Pretty decent place to grab a bite and chill. Great atmosphere, staff is nice, and food was out quickly. My only complaint would be the other customers taking too long at the drink station, but that's not the companies fault 😅

Planned on eating at UMAMI next door for my birthday but they closed on Mondays so I went to Hattie B's instead, great food, ate at the restaurant for the 4th time, ordered my food through UberEATS and DoorDash on 4 different occasions. I ordered the usual Southern Chicken tender plate with crinkle fries and pimento Mac and cheese with iced tea. Definitely will come back again anyway...

Every time I've eaten here has been great. The service is good the atmosphere is lively and the food is high quality deliciousness. If you like great spicy chicken and high quality sides try it. There is also a nice selection of draft and can beers.

Great food, great service. If you like Spicy food, this place is for you. The collards were hot, the Mac and Chez is hot, and you better believe that the chicken is HOT. Well seasoned 😁

My husband and I stopped here and got takeout fried chicken and waffles, grilled chicken, and sides of Mac and cheese / fries! Hands down some of the best “fast food” fried chicken, and my husband is a die-hard fried chicken fan. Each piece was perfectly crunchy outside and juicy inside. Mac and cheese had an interesting flavor but was yummy!

Staff was awesome and quick, I think we waited 10 minutes at 7:30pm, not a ton of people there but definitely a small dinner rush!

Excited to come again! Restaurant is spotless, they actually keep up on tables and restocking. I have no complaints besides they don’t have BBQ sauce…my husband was a little disappointed about that but honestly the chicken is good enough on its own, BBQ wasn’t really needed!

I've tried plenty of hot chicken places but this is the best one yet and it's near me too, it is like the original take on the hotness.

When I entered in, there was already a crowd of people sitting at the tables, they have outdoor seating, the sign is big so it grabs your attention.

The service is amazing, I was given my food and when I was finished, they offered to throw it away for me, feel such at ease when the staff are so polite.

Now the most important aspect, the food, I got the 2nd hottest flavor which was the "Damn Hot" only for (Enthusiasts who love spicy), the others being Southern (No spice) and Clucking It which is the absolute hottest, now I would've gone for it but I wanted to enjoy my food and not suffer this time. 😭

I would've thought they had sliders but they had chicken sandwiches which is the same thing except a bit bigger, comes with cole slaw, pickles, your choice of spice and a sauce of your choosing. (Ranch, blue cheese, nashville sauce, etc.)

Also, mac and cheese was top notch, give it a try!

My daughters said that the service was excellent. They said that everyone was super friendly and that your order was taken right away. The chicken and waffles were delicious but the spicy chicken was a little bit too salty for one of my daughters yet still flavorful and delicious.

Manneee... food was on point. The cashier was pleasant , the outside deck was nice. And although part of an order was forgotten, the staff quickly corrected the issue. Overall it was a good experience.

The best chicken tenders EVER! Big, juicy, cooked to perfection with just a bit of heat (medium). The fries were excellent with a good seasoned-salt. Service was very polite, food received super fast. Waitress/cashier check on us 2 or 3 times. Everything was clean including the restroom. It was not busy when I was there. The music was a bit loud but not so loud that we could not hear each other at the table. Decor was nice, chairs comfortable. All around good experience.

Heard alot of great things about Hattie B's and they did not disappoint. We were greeted by a friendly and sweet cashier. It was a family meal after a big game, so large party (8). Everyone ordered their meal got our cup for drinks and the food began coming out right away. There was very little wait time everything was hot and fresh. The service was excellent. The chicken was pretty good along with the collard greens. I would have loved cornbread with my greens, but they were flavorful. I ordered dessert to-go too stuffed to eat there. I would definitely eat here again.

The chicken tenders and waffles were amazing. You can get multiple levels of hotness, and the medium level was perfect with the syrup. The service was amazing. Everyone was super friendly.

A cool spot in an updated revitalized, part of the downtown area, surrounded by a lot of breweries and a lot of good food spots.

The fried chicken sandwich was excellent! Juicy and seasoned well! We ordered it with the "shut the cluck up" sauce on the side and man was it good. It is definitely hot and not for anyone who cannot handle spicy foods. I have had hotter and there definitely is another level of spice, but this is still really really spicy! We ordered the red skin potato salad and it was like mashed potato salad. REALLY good! Also had the pimento mac & cheese and that was another REALLY good side as well.

Employees were all cool and helpful and the place was clean with TVs of sports going.

Wish I had not made plans for desert at an ice cream spot that we walked to about 4-5blocks away because I later heard that their peach cobbler is really good! NEXT TIME!

Went here for the first time yesterday. The food exceeded my expectations! The people that worked there were nice. The chicken was the real deal!!!!!! The corn grits were on par with the food from New Orleans! Only thing I wasn’t thrilled about were the greens, but it wasn’t bad enough to drop my review on this place because the chicken, grits….. OH, the peach cobbler were all so delicious!!!!! Overall I give this place a 10/10! Would highly recommend! You definitely get the best value for your dollar here!

Got the fried chicken sandwich, medium spiciness with some Mac and cheese and it was so good! Definitely one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had.

Hattie B’s, the service was quick and friendly! The potato salad was AMAZING and we were happy to see that they had crushed ice for their drinks! Will definitely be back!

I just moved here and I absolutly LOVE this place from the food to the service to atmosphere as a WHOLE ! 10 OUT OF 10 HIGHLY RECCOMEND ! Put the lemons in the sweet tea , thank me NOW
