Don't be dissuaded by the exterior! There is some legitimately good sushi inside. I've been twice now and been happy with the nigiri and rolls both times.

Really enjoyed our first trip here! We had the curry ramen, curry shrimp and rice, crazy Mary roll, and boba tea. Everything was great! We will definitely return.

I was so surprised when I walked into Nguyen's for the first time. They have completely transformed the restaurant from it's prior condition as a breakfast joint into an impeccably clean and cozy dining room with an inviting ambience. The food is amazing, and the service is friendly and fast! Not only is the presentation beautiful, but the flavor and the portions do not disappoint. Kayla takes great care of us when we come in, and the pricing is very reasonable considering the quality and portions. I'm recommending this restaurant to everyone who comes to town!

As an asian girlie, i approve.
Got 2 chicken teriyaki, 1 cali roll and a green milk tea. They didnt have tapioca(bubble) so i got brown sugar jelly. Would of been better with bubble but the drink was actually good! Overall, for asian food in the mountains, it exceded expectations! We have yet to try the pho, but will our next trip in Banner Elk!

Atmosphere and ambiance (decor) could be better or could use some work.

We enjoyed our meal. The interior is very nice and decorated with an Asian flair. The best part about this restaurant was the service. The wait staff was really on top of everything. Order was taken quickly and food was brought out in a timely manner. Bathrooms were clean. The parking lot is gravel and plenty of parking. We started with a green salad with ginger dressing. We had veggie spring rolls which we ok. The rolls were thicker pastry than ones I had in the past. We enjoyed a tempura shrimp roll. It was very good and plated nicely. We had a hibachi style veggie meal with fried rice. It was good. There was a side of carrots included that was not very good, very mushy.

I have celiac, so eating out is always stressful for me. I got the spicy miso udon noodle soup (made gluten free...pictured below) and it's amazing! They take food allergies seriously. They have many gluten free options and the food is delicious!!! Staff is friendly as well.

Great food with awesome service. Everything tasted fresh and the hibachi was seared very well. There’s a huge variety of food and it was all fantastic, which is usually very rare for a restaurant. Make sure you ask for the Vietnamese coffee that’s not on the menu!

Plenty of options and nicely prepared food. The sushi was very fresh and the dumplings were steamed perfectly. The restaurant is unassuming from the outside and is attached to a gas station, but once inside, the presentation and taste create a different feel. The service is excellent which is an added bonus.

Don't be fooled by the outside and location. I'm writing this while sitting in the parking lot after just having lunch with our entire family. Our 2nd time here in the last 10 days. Food, Staff, Atmosphere, Cleanliness all excellent!

Sure, it’s next to a gas station. Sure, you may pull in and see no one there, and you may go to pull out and go somewhere else because on the outside it doesn’t look so great.

BUT, you realize you’re there on a Sunday morning right after open and that’s why you’re the only person there, and the reviews convince you to go in and give it a shot.

The service? Phenomenal! Very personal, and you can tell the locals know it’s the best spot around because after we came in and the server took a moment to connect with us, knowing he had never seen us before, 3 straight tables came in he knew the names of.

The miso soup? Homemade and some of the better miso we’ve had!

The iced coffee concoction that was recommended? Don’t even know what it was called, but it ruled!

The entrees? You guessed it. Delicious.

After a roughhhhh experience at Luna Sushi nearby the night before, we were so happy to have enjoyed this meal!!

I called and made a reservation for dinner, and when I arrived my table was already set and ready for me. I got the pork gyoza- SO GOOD! They are a must try. I also got the angry dragon roll and dynamite roll, both were excellent! Service was very friendly and professional. I highly recommend!

Cute place. We ordered takeout. Had a good deal of trouble ordering online so called them instead. The food was good, though not extraordinary. Our onion soup was too salty to eat, sadly. The salad was fresh and the variety of veggies in my curry ramen was nice. Our group was mixed on the sweet carrot side that came with everything else. Would come here again, for sure.

We had an amazing time dining at Nguyen’s! We ordered their taki maki sushis, their fried fish dinner and veggie spring rolls as appetisers. Everything was so good and tasty! The fried fish was a melt in your mouth topped up with sautéed veggies, it was my favourite! Definitely recommend to those visiting Banner Elk for few days!

I’ve eaten at pretty much every restaurant in Banner Elk, and Nguyens remains my favorite one. You can’t beat the quality of food and service for the price. It’s nice to have an unpretentious option around here.

The curry chicken with rice, chicken and shrimp pad thai, and sushi (all) are my favorites.

I’ve never had an issue getting a seat. Saturday nights tend to be their busiest time. They do takeout (equally delicious) as well.

Omg this place is delicious! Yes, it is attached to a gas station. Ignore that. The people are very friendly and , most importantly, the food was amazing. We had Thai Tea and the most decadent boba tea, fried dumplings, hibachi steak and scallops, beef pho, and a crazy good (and dramatically displayed) giant yellowtail roll, plus some more things. We went somewhere else the next night for dinner which was only “ok” and my family told me they wished we had just gone back to Nguyens again. Thank you for a memorable meal.

Looking for a mix-up while out on vacation, I stopped into Nguyens Asian Grill in Banner Elk. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking walking into a new restaurant without much research, but luckily the menu conveniently labeled vegan options for me, which made ordering generally easier.

I started off my meal with a delightful order of Veggie Spring Rolls. Each bite had that satisfying crunch and powerful punch of flavor, which hit the spot on its own. However, my entree of Teriyaki Tofu with vegetables and white rice was nothing to scoff at either. The vegetables were both soft and potent, and the tofu was grilled to a lovely fluffy yet crisp consistency, and lended their flavors to the rice.

To wash it all down, I enjoyed a sugarcane boba tea. The tapioca was a wonderful note to end the meal on. Could definitely see myself returning in the future!

What a hidden gem, I was glad my parents took me here. Mom & I had the Miso Soup and peach Boba tea. Dad had the shrimp curry. Great food, great service and I look forward to going there again.

I’ve reviewed before - but I cannot stop RAVING about the celiac safe/gluten free environment that’s created here! I also got sushi for the first time. It’s fantastic.
