Best Western Big Country Inn

This location was an absolute save. Perfect timing as I was passing by this area heading towards San Francisco to a hotel that I had prepaid for only to get told they do not have truck parking. ( yes checked and communicated with staff two days before paying , having them assure me they had semi parking , and had the answer change to “full parking lot, cannot fit semi, last minute ) I called this location and was told they had truck parking in the rear. Plenty of space to park a tractor trailer as well as other commercial vehicles in the back, newer drivers I recommend taking it slow pulling in and you will be just fine. Keep a safe distance from the check in pavilion. Arrived very late Friday 05.03.24, late check-in, front desk was very friendly and welcoming, didn’t catch her name unfortunately. If you’re here more than a few days, there is a Walmart in Hanford, California about 30 Minutes away. Plenty of restaurants in the immediate area, Denny’s next-door, alcohol right across the street even a McDonald’s for morning breakfast. I would like to recognize Abby for her extreme level of customer service and going out of her way for me as a guest. Very cozy first floor property and no issues with the cleanliness of the rooms, Super comfortable beds, cold, refrigerators, microwave, and ice machine is located next to the pool just outside of the front office. I look forward to my next stay at this property. Best Western did a phenomenal job with the upkeep of this hotel. A true gem

I have nothing but nice things to say about my visit here. The room was very large, almost oversized. It was clean, it was quiet. The bed was very comfortable. I slept 10 uninterrupted hours after driving 800 miles yesterday. Denny's restaurant is right next door allowing me to easily get back on the road. I stopped there for dinner, and then breakfast.

The man at the counter was very nice. It appeared to me that truckers frequented this place because of how nice and convenient this stop was.

It is not a typical hot but rather a collection of small apartments grouped in separate buildings.

The room had all I needed; a fridge, microwave, hairdryer, soaps, TV, controllable thermostat, clock, room darkening curtains, iron and ironing board, and coffee maker.

I would gladly stop here again.

Starting at the front desk we were greeted with kindness. The lady was so welcoming and professional. We went in our room and it was more than we expected. Very clean and had a coffee maker! Keep up the good work and we'll be staying with you again soon!!

My family stayed here unexpectedly and we were really lucky to have got there when we did because we ended up taking their last room. The room was very nice! We were pleasantly shocked at how nice it was. It was clean, neat, and spacious. It had 3 pairs of towels instead of 4, which wasn’t a big deal. The front staff was nice and the free hot breakfast was a great plus for the price. We will definitely stay here again if we are ever passing through.

Shockingly, one of the best motels I’ve ever stayed at! We didn’t expect much checking in as we were just pulling in off the 5 without a reservation or anything because we were too tired to keep driving. Everything was very clean and nicely decorated in both the lobby and our room. Our beds were comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. They had a surprisingly comprehensive complementary breakfast in the morning and the breakfast room was clean and well organized. Walking back to our room we noticed how nice the pool area looked with comfy furniture and plenty of towels and shade. I’m not sure if the property is newly constructed or recently renovated, but either way everything feels very fresh and well maintained and all of the staff we interacted with were very nice and attentive. The only downside is the property’s proximity to the nearby cattle ranch that makes it impossible not to smell cows when you step outside. However, we couldn’t smell anything when we were indoors. I was pleasantly surprised by everything about this place, as it was so much more than I expected given it’s location.

Great super clean and updated best Western. Best hotel night stay on our drive through California on I5. Did not expect it to be as nice but was really impressed at the new beds and updated very clean rooms. Nice hot breakfast. Good staff. Good simple and nice best Western. More reasonable price than Harris Ranch inn on the other side of the highway.

The beds were so comfortable! Me and my kids love this place. Breakfast was absolutely amazing. Great military discounts. Pool is too cold to go in but it was beautiful and well kept. Staff was great.

We needed a quick place to stay overnight and were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are recently renovated and spacious. All rooms are on the first floor and ample parking is nearby. The free breakfast has standard items but it was surprisingly good - the salsa was outstanding. They make their hot food in small batches so very fresh and tasty (like the pork sausage links).

AC cooled down the room quickly. The shower amenities were nice, bed and pillows comfy. The front desk staff at both check-in and check-out were friendly and welcoming.

It's a best western how great can it be right? Well turns out actually pretty decent. The room was clean, bed was soft. But man let me talk to you about the breakfast. The gravy for the biscuits and gravy was freaking amazing. I know what you're thinking this guy must not know biscuits and gravy you can let that thought go right now. Almost stayed another day for that gravy alone. Seriously for a place where you just need a bed to sleep and a meal to get you back on road. This place will do you good.

From past experiences with other Best Westerns, I did not expect much. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The Old Country Best Western was wonderful. To start with, the front desk were courteous and helpful. I requested extra pillows and a quiet location. The room was very clean and the extra pillows were neatly on the bed. The room had plenty of space for us. The refrigerator and microwave were spotless, so I did not hesitate to put our food in them. We couldn't hear a sound from outside the room, even though, Hwy 5 and other guests were nearby. Breakfast was included. I didn't have a freshly made waffle. But they smelled good. They did have the basic hot foods, egg patties, sausage patties, and potatoes. There was good assortment of breakfast foods, something for everyone. The wonderful staff made sure there was food in the trays and spot cleaning as needed. Check out was easy. Once again the staff was very pleasant. I would stay at this Old Country Best Western again.

For a Best Western, this is a 5 star. It's in the middle of nowhere, near Coalinga off the 5 freeway. But it is the perfect hotel to stay at if you are passing through and need a place to stay for the night. I was riding through on my way south.

The hotel is clean, well kept grounds, wonderful morning breakfast. You really can't ask for anymore. It's funny, but sometimes you can tell about a hotel by their self serve breakfast cleanliness - and here is was exceptionally clean. Take a look at the waffle maker, for example. Spotless! (Ignore the burnt toast - that was me)

BTW - there is a Denny's right next door, and the food there was very good!

My car broke down on the 5, so I needed a room for the night. They were immediately accommodating and got me a room. Very clean and super comfortable renovated space with a microwave and fridge. They even have a dog area in the back, and then a new breakfast room with a hot and cold options. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed my time here. The staff is accommodating, and the breakfast is better than most. The outdoor pool area was still open and maintained in November. My room was very comfortable with a larger fridge, a desk and table to eat at. The bathroom was clean and modern. Loved all the mirrors and lighting on the vanity. The furniture was not crammed in, but placed functionally with room to walk around. There are gardens and rose bushes between the rows of rooms. I do wish they had weekly rates. Well ran hotel overall and worth the prices!

Hotel stay was great overall, the city itself has an acquired smell, so as long as you wear a mask you should be good. The room was great, smelled great, breakfast was excellent with great service. All the staff as friendly and helpful. If you have to stay in the area then Best Western is best choice.

The room was immaculate! Clerk in the evening was very friendly and efficient. The ladies in the morning, the clerk as well as those that set up breakfast, were great. Excellent breakfast buffet. Definitely would stay again. Thank you.
