The Inn at Historic Lane House is an absolute gem! The house itself is stunning, with immaculate decor and an array of tasteful antique furniture and portraits that make you feel like you've stepped back in time. The host is incredibly welcoming and thoughtful, making our stay even more enjoyable.

The breakfast was delicious and far beyond your average morning fare, served on beautifully elaborate china plates that added a special touch to the experience. The backyard, with its beautiful heated pool and garden, felt like a private oasis—a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We had such a wonderful time and will definitely be returning next year! Highly recommend!

My experience of The Inn at Historic Lane House was beyond exceptional. It was a true escape from the normal. I loved the attention to detail and how everything was themed. The Owner Sahand was so gracious. He really made me feel at home. How can I not mention that pool! I will definitely be back!

What a treasure the Lane House Inn is for central PA. In the center of the charming and historic village of Mercersburg, the Lane House is a lovingly restored and immaculately curated piece of history. It feels like being in a museum, except with comfortable amenities, a decadent heated pool, and the resident cats, Evil and Evie, who join the host in making guests and visitors feel at home. The owner has scoured estate sales and antique stores to find beautiful period pieces—including an incredible canopy bed that was once in the White House—as well as an impressive collection of resources about the Buchanan family and the house’s legacy. If you like being immersed in history with a dose of pampering and relaxation, I highly recommend a weekend at Lane House.

We stayed at Lane House recently for the weekend. Sahand has achieved an amazing feat by bringing this old historic house back to life. The house is beautifully designed and largely unaltered since it was built. Wonderful natural light, beautiful high ceilings including a lovely, vaulted ceiling in the hallway while being a very comfortable and relaxing space. Sahand is an excellent host and knows a great deal about the house and Mercersburg and their histories. Very highly recommended.

The Lane House Inn is one of the best bed and breakfast accommodations I've ever stayed at. It is beautifully decorated and impressively curated with authentic historical materials and furnishings. My room was very comfortable. Sahand, the owner, is wonderful - so kind, amazingly knowledgeable, and an excellent host all around. The breakfast he served us was fantastic. I will definitely be back!

Nestled in the charming downtown of Mercersburg, PA, previously referred to as the jewel of Franklin County, The Inn at Historic Lane House has been combed over and meticulously restored both inside and out to befit the days Ms. Lane herself would have walked the halls. Sahand is the most gracious and attentive host from beginning to end. Upon arrival, he is warm and friendly and makes his guests feel welcome. We've stayed at the inn a few times and each room has been decorated with such historic character yet modern conveniences. The beds are some of the most comfortable we've slept on away from home. The bathrooms are updated, clean and spacious with really nice soaps and soft towels. We've stayed here during different seasons with the beautiful outdoor pool and gardens open in the spring and summer, and the fireplace crackling after skiing in the winter. Coffee is provided in the morning before breakfast is ready, which Sahand makes. Breakfasts are a beautiful spread of yummy options that are never the same - chicken & waffles, French toast, frittatas, eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, fruit, juices, coffee. Something for everyone! We've also had good experiences eating in nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner that Sahand has directed us to. Stoners on the Square is more pub fare with lots of beer on tap. The James Buchanan Pub also has a great menu with a more relaxed atmosphere. (If you're there in the spring or summer, make sure to ask to sit in the biergarten!) We have enjoyed a home away from home. Sahand has become a friend and we love making trips back to unwind and rejuvenate.

This is a beautiful home with a great deal of history that is well preserved by Sahand. He knows a great deal of the history of the home and its original occupants and is eager to share his knowledge with guests.

I felt very welcome in his home and enjoyed my stay there - from the heated pool, to the spacious rooms with private bathrooms, the inviting common areas, and a wonderful and tasty breakfast.

It's a cute small town and I highly recommend an overnight stay here.

A true labor of love, The Inn at Historic Lane House is a gem well worth the drive out to Mercersburg. Not only has the property been painstakingly restored over the past two years to its former glory, but the owner is a treasure trove of the intimate historical details of times gone by. For anyone who loves 19th century Americana or has an interest in the simpler times, Mercersburg and The Lane House should be on your bucket list. Despite its historical accuracy, the heated pool and ultra-comfy beds are welcome modern touches. Thank you, Sahand, for all you’ve done to make this place a beautiful and welcoming oasis for everyone!

Words alone cannot explain how amazing the Lane House Inn is. My partner and I stayed for two nights, and it simply wasn’t long enough.

Stepping into the Inn is like stepping back in time. The house and its decor are beautiful and a haven for history enthusiasts and lovers.

Sahand goes above and beyond to make this place welcoming and rejuvenating for the soul. Both homemade breakfasts were amazing. The room we stayed in (Harriet’s Room) was one of the most comfortable rooms I’ve stayed in away from home. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, and the room decor was stunning. The massive bathtub was also a plus.

The outside space is like a nature oasis. Beautiful greenery, comfortable lounge chairs, and the heated pool - you can sit out here all day and night.

If you’re looking for a place to reset and recharge, this is the place to go. Thank you, Sahand, for creating such an amazing place - we can’t wait for future visits!

This is a fantastic hidden gem that I’m lucky I got to see before more people started hearing about it. They’ve gone to painstaking lengths to restore this property and furnishings to their original beauty while still making sure it feels comfortable. Two hours driving from DC, making it super easy to enjoy the property and the sites in the area.

Great experience and an amazing host.
Sahand has done a great job in keeping the historic feel of the house and I loved hearing the history from him. He also provided the environment to create a community and having great chat with the other guests specially with the s’mores at night and the delicious breakfast. Definitely recommended for a chill and fun weekend.

I'm not prone to hyperbole, but about the only negative thing I can say is that I can't think of anything negative to say! The property has been immaculately restored - the proprietor can give you the history of not just the building but the individual furnishings. The beds are heavenly, to the point that I - who normally springs out of bed at 5:30 - slept in. Breakfast is superb, with everything made from scratch. There's a cat that occasionally makes an appearance, looking nonplussed as cats tend to do, and he will leave you alone unless you beckon. Mercersburg itself is small - you can walk anywhere in less than 5 minutes - but well-located to a variety of outdoorsy sorts of things, which (conveniently) are exactly the sorts of things that I enjoy. A terrific place to stay, highly recommended.

One of the true treasures of Mercersburg, PA. I fell in love with this place the SECOND I walked in the door - and on the wall was a portrait of famed 19th century opera singer Jenny Lind. You feel as though you've stepped back into another age at Lane House, and being able to visit was one of my favorite travel memories. Sahand has done an incredible historian's work to restore the property and bring it into the 21st century. The place oozes 19th century charm and I highly encourage EVERYONE to visit this unique jewel in the city's crown.
