Midafternoon on a Saturday doesn’t exactly help create a great atmosphere BUT we went for the food. Actually the atmosphere was fine and we enjoyed the setting very much. The food ranged from good to great.
The chips and salsa came with a warning that the red was spicy. It was but also tasty. The green was very tasty with a hint of spicy.

Deb’s tacos were delicious as were the calabacitas that came with them. I had fish and chips in a substantial amount. The cod was breaded in flour and panko mixture that was very crispy and crunchy. I thought the fish was a little bland but the red salsa added to the tartar sauce took care of that. The chips were freshly fried and quite long.

Plenty of food, freshly prepared and good to eat. Looking forward to trying breakfast.

I had the huevos rancheros with chorizo and red chili. It was astounding. Probably the best chorizo I've had. Excellent New Mexican style red sauce all on blue corn tortillas.

Best meal we’ve had in New Mexico! Better than La Cueva in Taos and La Choza in Santa Fe in our opinion. Got the mixed meat fajitas. Highly recommend.

now that kalapenos has closed down, there are not many acceptable Mexican restaurants left in taos.
We were pleasantly surprised with Maria’s!
The manager is fantastic, professional and personable.
due to lack of staff, he does absolutely everything here, including waiting tables.
the fish and chips were hand battered, and they definitely made certain the oil was hot enough (a common mistake made by many restaurants when you go at off hours).
the restaurant is surprisingly quite large and the bathrooms are clean and spacious.
so much better than la cueva.
we will certainly be going back.

When I heard the recipe changed I was a little bummed out, then I tried my old regular, and it was actually better! Then I tried another day, better! I've been back about 5x and I gotta say the food is delicious, the service is great, and the atmosphere is also on point. I think Maria's was delicious before, but now they really stepped it up a few notches. I'm digging the new spot also. Keep up the good work.

The food here was wonderful. It wasn't super fancy, just good food cooked right. I had the chicken rolled tacos made from blue corn tortillas with salsa and calabacitas. My husband had a carne asada burrito and charro beans. We also had an order of sopapillas with honey. I told my husband it reminded me of the food I would eat with my family in Texas. Total comfort food at a great price. Highly recommend if you want regular Mexican food that is tasty and not fussy!

We enjoyed our lunch today, chicken enchiladas and cheese enchiladas. The meal was served with beans and calabacitas. It was a delicious meal!! The chips were warm and crispy the green salsa was yummy.
Our waitress was nice and meal was served promptly. We will be retuning soon.

The nachos were substantial. I expected them to have cheap ground beef like a lot of places, but they had a heaping portion of beef brisket. The young lady who helped my girlfriend and I was very nice. Also, I must mention the prices. Eating out in this town can be pretty expensive. It's nice to go to a place with reasonable pricing in Taos.
