This is my favorite place to stay in Humboldt County. Absolutely stunning location owned by a wonderful family... we have stayed here many times over the years and keep coming back. The hospitality is unmatched. The views are incredible. Sauna, hot tub, bonfire overlooking the ocean with s'more kits, wine and incredible multi-course homemade breakfast included: how can you beat that? We love The Lost Whale Inn and look forward to our next visits. Highly, highly recommend this place. It's the best!

I had the most gorgeous wedding at The Lost Whale Inn on 5/4/24. Sarah and Melanie helped me plan it for almost a year ahead of the day, and everything went perfectly. They went above and beyond to make sure our day was so special. Not to mention the food was incredibly delicious, and the view is just unbelievable. Don’t miss your chance to stay here, we will definitely be back.

Spectacular views, phenomenal staff, and great breakfast! We loved our stay here, and our hostess was outstanding. She knew all the local spots and was so friendly! Her berry crisp has my mouth watering just remembering it. The ambiance was amazing, and you couldn’t ask for a better setting. Highly highly recommend this place!

Amazing and informative staff, views are wonderful and to hear the seals off the coast was magical. The Sea Lion room was cozy with a pacific ocean view which is beautiful. Cannot emphasize the amazing breakfasts we enjoyed as well as the tasting plate in the afternoon. Very short drive to the stunning Redwood National Park. Truly a lovely Inn and one we will return to!

Absolutely fantastic stay at the Lost Whale Inn! We came up during a doozy of a storm and it was the perfect cozy retreat. Very friendly and accommodating staff, very cute rooms with great views, and really nice amenities. 24 hour jacuzzi on the nice back deck and tea/hot chocolate available all hours, free beer/wine/liquor too. Food was wonderful. Dinner was included one night of our stay and was a great meal, breakfast was every morning at 9, and we got afternoon charcuterie plates every day customized to our room. Great proximity to the parks for hiking during the breaks in the storm. Really delightful stay, great value, and we will definitely be back!

The awesome ocean views from this inn are only exceeded by the staff, food, and amenities. Breakfast is a terrific feast, every staff member is genuine and friendly, and the amenities (wood fire pit with s'mores, hot tub, great happy hour, binoculars, etc) are perfect. Also, the bed and bed linens are super comfy.

The Lost Whale Inn is our favorite local getaway!

We love the location - the views from nearly anywhere on the property are stunning. We dig all the amenities, the welcome snack board, in room champagne, views, bonfire overlooking the ocean, hot tub conveniently shielded from the cold evening breeze, and of course the amazing breakfast! Grab a breakfast cookbook from the gift shop, you won't regret it.

Also, the new massage bungalow is incredible! The small structure is perfectly decorated to give off fresh, relaxing vibes. The massage therapists (Amanda & Jessi) are fantastic. Do yourself a favor and book a massage.

I absolutely recommend staying here whether you're local or traveling through. Be ready to relax and connect with yourself and/or your travel companion.

This place is a gem. From the stunning view, to the wonderfully friendly and helpful staff, to the oceanside hottub (shared, but people were generally respectful), to the manicured gardens, to the adorable and friendly tuxedo cat Bosco, to the first vacation bed I feel like has been immediately comfortable. Did I mention breakfast too? Heck, it's like a multi course meal in itself. Shelbie, Brian, Sarah, and Michelle were all fantastic hosts with a lot of knowledge of the area and would check in during breakfast to make sure you were getting the most out of your day. If you are a couple, this place has tons of little two person spots to keep your trip feeling private. Unforgettable vacation in the redwoods and this spot is it. Highly recommend, I will be back.

My husband and I absolutely love this place! Just got back from staying there for our third time (husband's birthday). The staff and owners are absolutely amazing, and it's clear they put a lot of love into this inn. We like to go in the off season, November to mid-March, because they have amazing dinners (easily rival the top places in the area) on Thursday and Saturday nights (Temptation for two).
The outdoor hot tub overlooks the ocean and was great to unwind in at night.
We stayed in the blue whale room (usually stay in the humpback whale room, but lucky for us, we got an upgrade! We actually like both rooms, but the blue whale room is about twice the size of the humpback whale room and has a spectacular ocean view).

This was a truly magical place. The scenery was breath taking. The staff had great recommendations of what hikes to take in the area. The food was delightful. The bed was very soft but with a lot of support. I hope to visit again.

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and had the most amazing time. The location is unbeatable, with plenty to do along the ocean or hiking in the redwoods. The hosts while we were there (Shelby and Brie) were knowledgeable about things to do in the area and also kind and friendly. And the breakfasts were amazing. We will definitely be back! Very lgbtq+ friendly too!

When you think of a B&B in a romantic setting, the Lost Whale Inn is what you hope for. It's so pretty with big bedrooms, a giant great room where every morning you get the best breakfast, just made by the owners. In the evenings, they light a fire and put out wine and cheese. But the view is the most amazing part of all…the crashing Pacific, giant rocks, the fog, the sound of sea lions barking. Flower gardens, a hot tub and beautiful deck. Just idyllic and magical.

This must be one of the most stunning places to stay on the plant, with the warmest hospitality to boot! If you are looking for an awe-inspiring romantic stay you will never forget, I highly recommend booking at The Lost Whale.

The grounds and ocean views from the inn are so fantastic, we spent all afternoon and evening wandering the colorful gardens and staring at the sea with our beautiful appetizer plate and wine. We walked down to the private beach and lingered at the 2 comfortable Adirondack chairs set up on a platform there.

In the evening, we enjoyed fresh cookies and made our own S'mores (included!) at the lovely fire that was set up, overlooking the sea at sunset.

I could go on & on, but suffice it to say, the amenities are stellar, rooms are super charming and comfortable, breakfast is spectacular, and the hosts are the very best. Both times we have stayed in The Sea Lion room with a comfortable bed looking directly at the sea, private little porch overlooking the flower garden, and semi-private wing of the inn almost all to our own.

Staying here is a splurge you will not regret. We can't wait to return!

Breakfasts were exceptional, and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. During breakfast one of the staff, sometimes the owner Brian, will stop by and see what activities you are doing and give great advice and help from a local point of view on where to go out how best to get somewhere. The view is excellent and just an overall great atmosphere and friendliness. If I come back this way again, I know where I'll stay!

Two words, whimsically divine. My Midwest mom’s dream has always been to see the Redwood trees, and I was blessed enough to make her dream come true. After researching where to stay when you go to see the Redwoods, I was pleased to come across the Lost Whale Inn. This Bed and Breakfast is one for the books. When I called to ask questions, Sarah was very helpful and knowledgeable and an absolute joy, it is very clear she loves what she does. she made my decision to
book very easy, and I am so happy I did. This place is magical. Living in the Vegas nightlife, coming to stay at the Lost Whale Inn was heaven sent. It is “off the beaten path” and definitely lies on the road less traveled (be careful traveling by car on the winding roads), but it is a road worth traveling. The attention to detail was superb. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you’re accommodated to the highest level. The breakfast was SO GOOD, I have never ate as much as I have on this trip. S’mores by the ocean, warm chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven, and the most delicious charcuterie boards with wine every afternoon. My mom and I stayed in the Egret room (every room is named after a sea animal), which I believe is the only room with more than one bed. This stay is definitely geared towards couples and romantic getaways, but rest assured that anyone can appreciate the beauty of this B&B. We truly felt like we were at home. Walking around and discovering the whimsical beauty weaved throughout the grounds was something I will never forget. “Bosco”, the cat that lives on the grounds, stole my heart by the ocean on a Sunday afternoon. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience. I cannot say enough good things, but I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Thank you to the Lost Whale Inn for helping my mom and I make memories we will cherish forever.
