Phipps Garden Center

I picked up my order for local plants on May 4, 2024. I’m partially disabled and use a transport wheelchair. The staff was MORE than accommodating. It’s an old building with so much charm but little accessibility. They helped me so much and I’m looking forward to adding new native plants to my garden. I’ve been informed that they are planning renovations to make it more accessible.

Gorgeous though crowded around Christmas time. Be patient. It is worth the wait when it gets dark out and the outdoor lights are most spectacular.

We visited the Phipps Garden this March. Everyone enjoyed the trip. The Garden has a variety of themes including rain forest, desert, special Cuban exhibition, and etc. The ticket is reasonably priced and we will definitely visit Phipps Garden next time when we visit Pittsburgh.

What a neat event. I went to pickup flowers I had pre-ordered and they had other vendors there with wares and education for the season. What a great tie in with the art center next door. It could use more signage about parking. It was a bit of a mess.

Beautiful botanical conservatory. Several large rooms based on climate and environment and the plants that live there. Seasonal and other events. Beautiful bonsai trees. They have a tropical bonsai show that is incredible. If you like plants, or nature you'll love Phipps

We had our wedding in a smaller venue owned by Phipps known as the Phipps Garden Center in Shadyside last July 28. Although we were initially worried about the fact that it was a secondary site, all our initial worries turned out to be completely illusory. Katelyn, the manager, always made sure that everything was going as planned and that all of our directions were followed. The venue was decorated beautifully. Despite the fact that the room is often used for other meetings related to the garden center, it looked like a wedding venue, as it overlooked a terrace which is right next to Mellon Park. David, from catering, was also very responsible from the beginning and was in charge of the schedule minute by minute. The food (a buffet) was also very good. All our guests, most of whom came from out of state and did not know what to expect from the city, were enchanted by the location and left with a good impression of Pittsburgh. We couldn't have asked for a better crew. If you are having a relatively small wedding (up to a 100 guests), this is an ideal location, as it is very intimate without being informal. Thank you!!

Incredible displays that are ever changing. Memberships covers your cost to visit all 4 major shows and you can stop in whenever you want! I recommend it. Parking is much easier during the week too.

I am a member of the Orchid Society of Western Pennsylvania and we hold our monthly meetings here. It has a beautiful building, lovely landscaping and an amazing library.

I have been taking gardening classes there for 20 years. There us also floral design as well as botanical drawing.

I love this local garden store. Their bags of soil are perfect size and cost. They just redesigned the inside of the shop and its awesome
