The store is now closed after decades of being in business. It was a great local go to for pet food, toys, and supplies. Very sad they will be closed and I wish the owners all the best.

If you're reading this just know that Rusty's store and the woman who runs it is wonderful, she's a lovely, kind lady who I really enjoy chatting with and have had very positive interactions with.
The groomer, who works upstairs, is on the contrary - someone I'm not only displeased with but also a bit angry at. We have an 11 month old black lab/English bulldog mix - he's a wiggly, 11 month old puppy but he's also a love. He's never been away from us for grooming before but he's adaptable, friendly and A PUPPY. I dropped him off for grooming last Tuesday, the woman upstairs was friendly enough and I was only slightly put off by the person who dropped their dog off at the same time as I did, completely drugged to sleep.
I was called about 2.5 hours later to come pick our puppy up. I went up to get him and his crate was covered with towels. I asked if he had been whiny and she said "no not really". I asked if he had behaved himself and she said yes, but that he was wiggly so you had to (and I quote) "manhandle him to clip his nails" but that "he was very accepting of everything". At that, I thought maybe poor word choice and moved on to go collect him out of the crate. He got a bit excited hearing my voice and was standing at the crate door wagging his tail - this was the part that took me a day to process - she opens the door and he starts rushing out (NOTE AGAIN: 11 MONTH OLD PUPPY) and she proceeds to slam the door in his face, not once but three times while yelling "wait" at him until he COWERED in the bottom of his crate and than she let him out.
I am not only disgusted but disappointed, angry and downright displeased at this. I trusted her with his safety both mentally and physically and not only is that NEVER a way we speak to or train him but for someone whose effectively "borrowing" a dog to preform a service, it's absolutely uncalled for. Her job is not to train him, it's to clip his nails and give him a bath. I'm absolutely appalled and can only IMAGINE the way she treated him if he was wiggly in the bath or during his nails. He's completed doggy class and has an actual wait cue - which was taught by a licensed dog trainer and NOT an angry groomer.
This is a fair warning to those who may be considering her as a groomer - it's a small thing but for me it's a telling thing. If she's willing to make him cower in front of me, do you think that she isn't willing to do it behind my back?
